V záchvatu hněvu dostal nápad, že by si na Židech mohl zahojit potupu své porážky. Rozkázal tedy vozatajovi, ať žene bez zastávky až do cíle cesty. To už se ale nad ním vznášel trest Nebes. Ve své zpupnosti totiž prohlásil: „Až přijedu do Jeruzaléma, udělám z něj židovský hromadný hrob!“
