"Lily pulled the quilt over her and rolled to one side so that her back was to him. Now that her passion had been appeased, her pride was back in force, and it was painfully bruised. She heard the clank of metal against metal, then felt a cold rush of air as Caleb opened the back door and went out. She knew he'd gone to the pump for more water. Lily didn't move until much later, when he crossed the room to swat her lightly on her quilt-covered bottom. "Your bath water is hot again," he said quietly. "Lock the door when I go."
