Pan wnaeth y Pharo adael i'r bobl fynd, wnaeth Duw ddim eu harwain nhw i wlad y Philistiaid, er mai dyna fyddai'r ffordd gyntaf. Doedd gan Dduw ddim eisiau i'r bobl newid eu meddyliau a mynd yn ôl i'r Aifft pan oedd y Philistiaid yn bygwth rhyfela yn eu herbyn nhw.

Als nun der Pharao das Volk hatte ziehen lassen, führte Gott sie nicht in der Richtung nach dem Lande der Philister, obgleich dies der nächste Weg gewesen wäre; denn Gott dachte: Das Volk könnte es sich gereuen lassen, wenn es Krieg in Aussicht hätte, und möchte wieder nach Ägypten zurückkehren.
