Chapter 10
I Ch DRC 10:1  Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down wounded in mount Gelboe.
I Ch VulgClem 10:1  Philisthiim autem pugnabant contra Israël, fugeruntque viri Israël Palæsthinos, et ceciderunt vulnerati in monte Gelboë.
I Ch KJV 10:1  Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
I Ch DRC 10:2  And the Philistines drew near pursuing after Saul, and his sons, and they killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchisua the sons of Saul.
I Ch VulgClem 10:2  Cumque appropinquassent Philisthæi, persequentes Saul et filios ejus, percusserunt Jonathan, et Abinadab, et Melchisua filios Saul.
I Ch KJV 10:2  And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi–shua, the sons of Saul.
I Ch DRC 10:3  And the battle grew hard against Saul and the archers reached him, and wounded him with arrows.
I Ch VulgClem 10:3  Et aggravatum est prælium contra Saul, inveneruntque eum sagittarii, et vulneraverunt jaculis.
I Ch KJV 10:3  And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
I Ch DRC 10:4  And Saul said to his armourbearer: Draw thy sword, and kill me: lest these uncircumcised come, and mock me. But his armourbearer would not, for he was struck with fear: so Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
I Ch KJV 10:4  Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
I Ch DRC 10:5  And when his armourbearer saw it, to wit, that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword and died.
I Ch KJV 10:5  And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.
I Ch DRC 10:6  So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house fell together.
I Ch VulgClem 10:6  Interiit ergo Saul : et tres filii ejus, et omnis domus illius pariter concidit.
I Ch KJV 10:6  So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.
I Ch DRC 10:7  And when the men of Israel, that dwelt in the plains, saw this, they fled: and Saul and his sons being dead, they forsook their cities, and were scattered up and down: and the Philistines came, and dwelt in them.
I Ch KJV 10:7  And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
I Ch DRC 10:8  And the next day the Philistines taking away the spoils of them that were slain, found Saul and his sons lying on mount Gelboe.
I Ch VulgClem 10:8  Die igitur altero detrahentes Philisthiim spolia cæsorum, invenerunt Saul et filios ejus jacentes in monte Gelboë.
I Ch KJV 10:8  And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
I Ch DRC 10:9  And when they had stripped him, and out off his head, and taken away his armour, they sent it into their land, to be carried about, and shewn in the temples of the idols and to the people.
I Ch KJV 10:9  And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
I Ch DRC 10:10  And his armour they dedicated in the temple of their god, and his head they fastened up in the temple of Dagon.
I Ch VulgClem 10:10  arma autem ejus consecraverunt in fano dei sui, et caput affixerunt in templo Dagon.
I Ch KJV 10:10  And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.
I Ch DRC 10:11  And when the men of Jabes Galaad had heard this, to wit, all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
I Ch VulgClem 10:11  Hoc cum audissent viri Jabes Galaad, omnia scilicet quæ Philisthiim fecerant super Saul,
I Ch KJV 10:11  And when all Jabesh–gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
I Ch DRC 10:12  All the valiant men of them arose, and took the bodies of Saul and of his sons, and brought them to Jabes, and buried their bones under the oak that was in Jabes, and they fasted seven days.
I Ch VulgClem 10:12  consurrexerunt singuli virorum fortium, et tulerunt cadavera Saul et filiorum ejus : attuleruntque ea in Jabes, et sepelierunt ossa eorum subter quercum, quæ erat in Jabes, et jejunaverunt septem diebus.
I Ch KJV 10:12  They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
I Ch DRC 10:13  So Saul died for his iniquities, because he transgressed the commandment of the Lord, which he had commanded, and kept it not: and moreover consulted also a witch,
I Ch KJV 10:13  So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
I Ch DRC 10:14  And trusted not in the Lord: therefore he slew him, and transferred his kingdom to David the son of Isai.
I Ch KJV 10:14  And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
