14:5  V Judsku stavěl opevněná města, neboť země žila v míru. Žádná válka se v těch letech proti němu nevedla. Hospodin mu dopřál klidu.

14:5  Země žila v míru, a tak mohl Asa v Judsku budovat opevněná města. Nikdo proti němu v těch letech neválčil, neboť mu Hospodin dopřál odpočinutí.

14:5  Postavil v Judsku opevněná města, protože země měla klid. V těch letech proti němu nevypukla válka, neboť Hospodin mu dal odpočinek.

14:5  Zkazil, pravím, po všech městech Judských výsosti a slunečné obrazy, a bylo v pokoji království za času jeho.

14:6  Ása řekl Judovi: „Vystavějme tato města, obežeňme je hradbami s věžemi, vraty a závorami, dokud je naše země v klidu. Dotazovali jsme se Hospodina, našeho Boha, dotazovali jsme se ho a on nám dopřál klid na všech stranách.“ Stavěli tedy a dařilo se jim to.

14:6  „Vybudujme ta města!“ vybídl Asa Judu. „Opevněme je hradbami s věžemi, branami a závorami. Země zůstala nám, protože jsme hledali Hospodina, svého Boha. Hledali jsme ho a on nám dopřál odpočinutí ze všech stran!“ Stavěli tedy a dařilo se jim.

14:6  Řekl Judejcům: Stavme tato města a obežeňme je hradbami s věžemi, vraty a závorami. Země je dosud naše, neboť jsme hledali Hospodina, svého Boha. Hledali jsme jej a dal nám odpočinek ⌈od okolních nepřátel.⌉ Stavěli a dařilo se jim.

14:6  Zatím vzdělal města hrazená v Judstvu, proto že v pokoji byla země, aniž jaká proti němu válka povstala těch let; nebo Hospodin dal jemu odpočinutí.

14:7  And he said to Juda: Let us build these cities, and compass them with walls, and fortify them with towers, and gates, and bars, while all is quiet from wars, because we have sought the Lord the God of our fathers, and he hath given us peace round about. So they built, and there was no hinderance in building.

14:7  Ása měl vojsko, tři sta tisíc mužů z Judy, nosících pavézy a oštěpy, dvě stě osmdesát tisíc z Benjamína, kteří nosili štíty a stříleli z luku. Všichni byli udatní bohatýři.

14:7  Asovo vojsko čítalo 300 000 judských mužů s pavézami a oštěpy a 280 000 Benjamínců vládnoucích štítem a lukem, samé statečné bojovníky.

14:7  Ása měl vojsko: Z Judska tři sta tisíc těch, kteří nosili velký ⌈štít a oštěp,⌉ a z Benjamína dvě stě osmdesát tisíc těch, kteří nosili malý štít a napínali luk. Ti všichni byli udatní hrdinové.

14:7  I řekl lidu Judskému: Vzdělejme ta města, a ohraďme je zdmi a věžemi, branami i závorami, dokudž země jest v moci naší. Aj, že jsme hledali Hospodina Boha svého, hledali jsme ho, a dal nám odpočinutí odevšad. A tak stavěli a šťastně se jim zvedlo.

14:7  Therefore he said to Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about [them] walls, and towers, gates, and bars, [while] the land [is] yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought [him], and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built, and prospered.

14:8  Měl pak Aza vojsko těch, kteříž nosili štíty a kopí, z pokolení Judova třikrát sto tisíců, a z Beniaminova pavézníků a střelců dvě stě a osmdesáte tisíců. Všickni ti byli muži udatní.

14:8  And Asa had an army [of men] that bore targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and eighty thousand: all these [were] mighty men of valor.

14:9  And Zara the Ethiopian came out against them with his army of ten hundred thousand men, and with three hundred chariots: and he came as far as Maresa.

14:9  Ása vytáhl proti němu. Seřadili se k bitvě v údolí Sefaty u Maréši.

14:9  I vytáhl proti nim Zerach Mouřenín, maje v vojště desetkrát sto tisíců, a vozů tři sta, a přitáhl až k Maresa.

14:10  Ása volal k Hospodinu, svému Bohu. Řekl: „Hospodine, jen ty jsi s to pomoci, postaví-li se mocný proti bezmocnému. Pomoz nám, Hospodine, náš Bože, neboť ty jsi naše opora. V tvém jménu jsme přitáhli proti tomuto davu. Hospodine, ty jsi náš Bůh, proti tobě člověk nic nezmůže!“

14:10  Asa volal k Hospodinu, svému Bohu: „Hospodine, nikdo jiný nemůže pomoci slabému proti takové přesile. Pomoz nám, Hospodine, Bože náš! Na tebe spoléháme a ve tvém jménu čelíme této přesile. Hospodine, ty jsi náš Bůh; přece proti tobě neobstojí smrtelník!“

14:10  Nato volal Ása k Hospodinu, svému Bohu, a řekl: Hospodine, mimo tebe není pomoci pro boj mezi mocným a bezmocným. Pomoz nám, Hospodine, náš Bože, vždyť spoléháme na tebe a ve tvém jménu jsme vytáhli proti tomuto davu. Hospodine, ty jsi náš Bůh. Ať ⌈tě člověk nepřemůže.⌉

14:10  Vytáhl též i Aza proti němu. I sšikovali vojska v údolí Sefata u Maresa.

14:11  I porazil Hospodin Kúšijce před Ásou a před Judou. Kúšijci se dali na útěk.

14:11  And Asa cried to the LORD his God, and said, LORD, [it is] nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou [art] our God; let not man prevail against thee.

14:11  Asa cried to the Lord his God, and said, "Lord, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Lord our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Lord, you are our God. Do not let man prevail against you."

14:12  Ása se svým lidem je pronásledoval až ke Geraru. Kúšijci padli, žádný z nich nevyvázl živ; byli rozdrceni před Hospodinem a před jeho táborem. Judejci odnesli velké množství kořisti.

14:12  Asa je se svým vojskem pronásledoval až ke Geraru. Habešanů padlo tolik, že se už nevzchopili, protože je stihla drtivá porážka před Hospodinem a jeho táborem. Judští si pak odnesli velikou spoustu kořisti.

14:12  Ása a lid, který byl s ním, je však pronásledovali až ke Geraru. ⌈Kúšijci padali a⌉ nikdo z nich nezůstal naživu, protože byli od Hospodina a jeho vojska rozdrceni. Judejci odnesli velmi mnoho kořisti.

14:13  Vybili všechna města v okolí Geraru, na něž dolehl strach z Hospodina. Vyloupili všechna města a bylo v nich velké množství lupu.

14:13  Na všechna města v okolí Geraru padla hrůza z Hospodina. Zaútočili na ně a všechna ta města vyplenili; bylo v nich opravdu nesmírné množství kořisti.

14:13  Vybili všechna města kolem Geraru, neboť na ně padl ⌈strach z Hospodina.⌉ Vyplenili všechna města, protože v nich bylo mnoho kořisti.

14:13  A honil je Aza i lid, kterýž byl s ním, až do Gerar. I padli Mouřenínové, že se nijakž otaviti nemohli; nebo potříni jsou před Hospodinem a před vojskem jeho. I odnesli onino kořistí velmi mnoho.

14:13  And Asa and the people that [were] with him pursued them to Gerar: and the Cushites were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.

14:14  And they smote all the cities about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they plundered all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
