Chapter 64
Isai DRC 64:1  O that thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence.
Isai VulgClem 64:1  Utinam dirumperes cælos, et descenderes ; a facie tua montes defluerent ;
Isai KJV 64:1  Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
Isai DRC 64:2  They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence.
Isai VulgClem 64:2  sicut exustio ignis tabescerent, aquæ arderent igni : ut notum fieret nomen tuum inimicis tuis ; a facie tua gentes turbarentur.
Isai KJV 64:2  As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
Isai DRC 64:3  When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away.
Isai VulgClem 64:3  Cum feceris mirabilia, non sustinebimus ; descendisti, et a facie tua montes defluxerunt.
Isai KJV 64:3  When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
Isai DRC 64:4  From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee.
Isai VulgClem 64:4  A sæculo non audierunt, neque auribus perceperunt ; oculus non vidit, Deus, absque te, quæ præparasti exspectantibus te.
Isai KJV 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
Isai DRC 64:5  Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved.
Isai VulgClem 64:5  Occurristi lætanti, et facienti justitiam ; in viis tuis recordabuntur tui. Ecce tu iratus es, et peccavimus ; in ipsis fuimus semper, et salvabimur.
Isai KJV 64:5  Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
Isai DRC 64:6  And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isai VulgClem 64:6  Et facti sumus ut immundus omnes nos, et quasi pannus menstruatæ universæ justitiæ nostræ ; et cecidimus quasi folium universi, et iniquitates nostræ quasi ventus abstulerunt nos.
Isai KJV 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isai DRC 64:7  There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity.
Isai VulgClem 64:7  Non est qui invocet nomen tuum ; qui consurgat, et teneat te. Abscondisti faciem tuam a nobis, et allisisti nos in manu iniquitatis nostræ.
Isai KJV 64:7  And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
Isai DRC 64:8  And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands.
Isai VulgClem 64:8  Et nunc, Domine, pater noster es tu, nos vero lutum ; et fictor noster tu, et opera manuum tuarum omnes nos.
Isai KJV 64:8  But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Isai DRC 64:9  Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people.
Isai VulgClem 64:9  Ne irascaris, Domine, satis, et ne ultra memineris iniquitatis nostræ ; ecce, respice, populus tuus omnes nos.
Isai KJV 64:9  Be not wroth very sore, O Lord, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
Isai DRC 64:10  The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate.
Isai VulgClem 64:10  Civitas Sancti tui facta est deserta, Sion deserta facta est, Jerusalem desolata est.
Isai KJV 64:10  Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
Isai DRC 64:11  The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins.
Isai VulgClem 64:11  Domus sanctificationis nostræ et gloriæ nostræ, ubi laudaverunt te patres nostri, facta est in exustionem ignis, et omnia desiderabilia nostra versa sunt in ruinas.
Isai KJV 64:11  Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
Isai DRC 64:12  Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently?
Isai VulgClem 64:12  Numquid super his continebis te, Domine ; tacebis, et affliges nos vehementer ?
Isai KJV 64:12  Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Lord? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
