17:1  And this lot fell to the tribe of Manasses for he is the firstborn of Joseph to Machir the firstborn of Manasses the father of Galaad, who was a warlike man, and had for possession Galaad and Basan.

17:1  Tento los připadl pokolení Manasesovu; to byl Josefův prvorozený. Makírovi, Manasesovu prvorozenému, otci Gileádovu, za to, že byl válečník, připadly Gileád a Bášan.

17:1  Toto je díl, který losem připadl pokolení Josefova prvorozeného, Manasese. (Gileád a Bášan už připadly Machirovi, Manasesovu prvorozenému a otci Gileáda, protože to byl takový bojovník.)

17:1  Padl i los pro Manasesovo pokolení, neboť je Josefův prvorozený: Pro Makíra, Manasesova prvorozeného, Gileádova otce, on byl totiž bojovník. Připadl mu Gileád a Bášan.

17:1  A tento byl los Manassesův (nebo on jest prvorozený Jozefův): Machirovi prvorozenému Manassesovu, otci Gálad, proto že byl muž bojovný, dostal se Galád a Bázan.

17:2  Také ostatním Manasesovcům připadly podíly pro jejich čeledi: Abíezerovcům, Chelekovcům, Asríelovcům, Šekemovcům, Cheferovcům a Šemídáovcům. To byli potomci Josefova syna Manasesa, mužské potomstvo podle svých čeledí.

17:2  Dostalo se i na zbývající Manasesovy syny pro jejich rody, totiž pro pro syny Abiezerovy, Chelekovy, Asrielovy, Šechemovy, Cheferovy a Šemidovy. To jsou ostatní mužští potomci Manasese, syna Josefova, podle svých rodů.

17:2  Dostalo se i na zbývající Manasesovy syny a na jejich čeledi: Na syny Abíezerovy, syny Chelekovy, syny Asríelovy, syny Šekemovy, syny Cheferovy a syny Šemídaovy. Toto jsou potomci Manasesa, syna Josefova, mužského pohlaví, podle svých čeledí.

17:2  Dostalo se také jiným synům Manassesovým po čeledech jejich, synům Abiezer, a synům Helek, a synům Asriel, i synům Sechem, a synům Hefer, a synům Semida. (Nebo ti jsou synové Manassesovi, syna Jozefova, muži po rodech svých.

17:4  And they came in the presence of Eleazar the priest and of Joshua the son of Nun, and of the princes, saying: The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, that a possession should be given us in the midst of our brethren. And he gave them according to the commandment of the Lord a possession amongst the brethren of their father.

17:4  And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the Lord he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

17:4  Ty přistoupily před kněze Eleazara, před Jozua, syna Núnova, a před předáky se slovy: Hospodin Mojžíšovi přikázal, aby nám dal dědictví mezi našimi bratry. Dal jim tedy podle Hospodinova příkazu dědictví mezi bratry jejich otce.

17:4  Kteréžto přistoupivše před Eleazara kněze, a před Jozue, syna Nun, i před knížata, řekly: Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi, aby nám dal dědictví u prostřed bratří našich. I dal jim Jozue podlé rozkázaní Hospodinova dědictví u prostřed bratří otce jejich.)

17:5  And there fell ten portions to Manasses, beside the land of Galaad and Basan beyond the Jordan.

17:6  For the daughters of Manasses possessed inheritance in the midst of his sons. And the land of Galaad fell to the lot of the rest of the children of Manasses.

17:8  For the lot of Manasses took in the land of Taphua, which is on the borders of Manasses, and belongs to the children of Ephraim.

17:9  And the border goeth down to the valley of the reeds, to the south of the torrent of the cities of Ephraim, which are in the midst of the cities of Manasses: the border of Manasses is on the north side of the torrent, and the outgoings of it are at the sea:

17:9  And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

17:9  Hranice pak sestupuje k potoku Káně. Na jih od potoka mezi městy Manasesovými jsou města patřící Efrajimovi. Hranice Manasesova se táhne severně podél potoka a vybíhá k moři.

17:9  And the border descended to the river Kanah, southward of the river. These cities of Ephraim [are] among the cities of Manasseh: the border of Manasseh also [was] on the north side of the river, and the limits of it were at the sea:

17:9  The border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook. These cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook, and ended at the sea.

17:9  And the coast descended to the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

17:10  So that the possession of Ephraim is on the south, and on the north that of Manasses, and the sea is the border of both, and they are joined together in the tribe of Aser on the north, and in the tribe of Issachar on the east.

17:11  And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth–shean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

17:11  Manasesovi připadly v území Isacharově a Ašerově: Bét-šeán s vesnicemi, Jibleám s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Dóru s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Én-dóru s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Taanaku s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Megida s vesnicemi a tři návrší.

17:11  Na Isacharově a Ašerově území připadlo Manasesovi toto: Bet-šean a Jibleam s jejich vesnicemi, obyvatelé Doru, En-doru a Taanachu s jejich vesnicemi a obyvatelé Megida s jeho vesnicemi. (Třetí ve výčtu je Náfot.)

17:11  And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Tanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, [even] three countries.

17:12  Neither could the children of Manasses overthrow these cities, but the Chanaanite began to dwell in his land.

17:12  Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

17:13  Postquam autem convaluerunt filii Israël, subjecerunt Chananæos, et fecerunt sibi tributarios, nec interfecerunt eos.

17:14  And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, and said: Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to possess, whereas I am of so great a multitude, and the Lord hath blessed me?

17:14  And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the Lord hath blessed me hitherto?

17:14  I vytýkali Josefovci Jozuovi: „Proč jsi nám dal za dědictví jeden los a jednu oblast? Jsme lid početný, protože Hospodin nám tak mnoho požehnal.“

17:14  Synové Josefovi řekli Jozuovi: „Proč jsi nám dal za dědictví jen jeden los a jediný příděl? Jsme početný lid, neboť nám Hospodin až doposud žehnal.“

17:14  Synové Josefovi pak promluvili k Jozuovi: Proč jsi nám dal za dědictví jeden los a jeden díl, když jsme početný lid? Až doposud nám Hospodin takto žehnal.

17:14  Tedy mluvili synové Jozefovi k Jozue, řkouce: Proč jsi nám dal dědictví toliko los jeden a provazec jeden, poněvadž jsme lid mnohý; nebo až dosavad žehnal nám Hospodin.

17:14  And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me [but] one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I [am] a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath hitherto blessed me?

17:14  The children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, "Why have you given me just one lot and one part for an inheritance, since I am a great people, because the Lord has blessed me so far?"

17:14  And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why have you given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, for as much as the LORD has blessed me till now?

17:14  Locutique sunt filii Joseph ad Josue, et dixerunt : Quare dedisti mihi possessionem sortis et funiculi unius, cum sim tantæ multitudinis, et benedixerit mihi Dominus ?

17:15  And Joshua said to them: If thou be a great people, go up into the woodland, and cut down room for thyself in the land of the Pherezite and the Raphaims: because the possession of mount Ephraim is too narrow for thee.

17:15  And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

17:15  Jozue jim řekl: „Jste-li lid početný, vytáhněte do lesů, tam na území Perizejců a Refájců, a vykácejte je, když je pro vás Efrajimské pohoří těsné.“

17:15  „Když jste tak početný lid,“ řekl jim na to Jozue, „jděte do lesů. Vykácejte si místo tam, v zemi Perizejců a Refajců, když je vám tak těsno v Efraimských horách.“

17:15  Jozue jim však odpověděl: Pokud jste početný lid, vytáhněte do lesa a vykácíte si ho pro sebe, tam v zemi Perizejců a Refájců, když je pro vás efrajimské pohoří těsné.

17:15  I řekl jim Jozue: Poněvadž jsi lid tak mnohý, vejdi do lesa, a vyplaň sobě tam v zemi Ferezejské a Refaimské, jestližeť jest malá hora Efraim.

17:15  And Joshua answered them, If thou [art] a great people, [then] go up to the wood, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim is too narrow for thee.

17:15  Joshua said to them, "If you are a great people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you."

17:15  And Joshua answered them, If you be a great people, then get you up to the wood country, and cut down for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for you.

17:15  Ad quos Josue ait : Si populus multus es, ascende in silvam, et succide tibi spatia in terra Pherezæi et Raphaim : quia angusta est tibi possessio montis Ephraim.

17:16  And the children of Joseph answered him: We cannot go up to the mountains, for the Chanaanites that dwell in the low lands, wherein are situate Bethsan with its towns, and Jezrael in the midst of the valley, have chariots of iron.

17:16  And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth–shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

17:16  Josefovci namítali: „Pohoří nám nepostačí. A všichni Kenaanci, kteří sídlí v dolině, mají železné vozy, jak v Bét-šeánu s jeho vesnicemi, tak v dolině Jizreelu.“

17:16  „Hory nám nestačí,“ odpověděli Josefovi synové. „A navíc, všichni Kanaánci z nížiny, jak z Bet-šeanu a okolí, tak z údolí Jizreel, mají železné vozy!“

17:16  Synové Josefovi nato řekli: To pohoří pro nás nebude stačit a v celém kenaanském osídlení v údolní zemi mají železné vozy, ti, kdo jsou v Bét–šeánu a jeho vesnicích, i ti, kdo jsou v údolí Jizreelu.

17:16  Jemuž odpověděli synové Jozefovi: I tak nám nepostačí ta hora; přes to vozy železné mají všickni Kananejští, kteříž bydlejí v luzích těch, i ti, kteříž jsou v Betsan a v městečkách jeho, i ti, kteříž jsou v údolí Jezreel.

17:16  And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, [both they] who [are] of Beth-shean and its towns, and [they] who [are] of the valley of Jezreel.

17:16  The children of Joseph said, "The hill country is not enough for us. All the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth Shean and its towns, and those who are in the valley of Jezreel."

17:16  And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

17:16  Cui responderunt filii Joseph : Non poterimus ad montana conscendere, cum ferreis curribus utantur Chananæi, qui habitant in terra campestri, in qua sitæ sunt Bethsan cum viculis suis, et Jezraël mediam possidens vallem.

17:17  And Joshua said to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasses: Thou art a great people, and of great strength, thou shalt not have one lot only:

17:17  And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

17:17  Jozue odpověděl domu Josefovu, Efrajimovi a Manasesovi: „Jste početný lid a máte velkou sílu. Nebudete mít jeden los.

17:17  Jozue na to Efraimovi a Manasesovi z Josefova domu řekl: „Jste početný lid a máte velkou sílu. Nezůstane vám jeden los.

17:17  Jozue odpověděl domu Josefovu, Efrajimovi a Manasesovi: Jsi početný lid a máš velkou sílu; nedostane se ti pouze jeden los.

17:17  I řekl Jozue domu Jozefovu, Efraimovu a Manassesovu, řka: Lid mnohý a silný jsi, nebudeš míti toliko dílu jednoho,

17:17  And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, [even] to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou [art] a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot [only]:

17:17  Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, "You are a great people, and have great power. You shall not have one lot only;

17:17  And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, You are a great people, and have great power: you shall not have one lot only:

17:17  Dixitque Josue ad domum Joseph, Ephraim et Manasse : Populus multus es, et magnæ fortitudinis : non habebis sortem unam,

17:18  But thou shalt pass to the mountain, and shalt cut down the wood, and make thyself room to dwell in: and mayst proceed farther, when thou hast destroyed the Chanaanites, who as thou sayest have iron chariots, and are very strong.

17:18  But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

17:18  Bude vám patřit pohoří. Protože je zalesněné, vykácíte je, a kam až vybíhá, bude vám patřit. Podrobíte si Kenaance, třebaže mají železné vozy a jsou silní.“

17:18  Hory jsou vaše. Že je tam les? Vykácíte ho, a kam až sahá, to bude vaše. Ty Kanaánce přece vyženete. Co na tom, že mají železné vozy a že jsou silní?“

17:18  Vždyť ti bude patřit pohoří. Protože je zalesněné, vykácíš ho a jeho končiny se stanou tvým vlastnictvím, neboť si Kenaance podrobíš, ačkoliv mají železné vozy a i když jsou silní.

17:18  Ale horu budeš míti. Jestližeť překáží les, tedy vysekáš jej, a obdržíš končiny její; nebo vyhladíš Kananejského, ačkoli má vozy železné a jest silný.

17:18  But the mountain shall be thine; for it [is] a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the limits of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, [and] though they [are] strong.

17:18  but the hill country shall be yours. Although it is a forest, you shall cut it down, and it's farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong."

17:18  But the mountain shall be yours; for it is a wood, and you shall cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be yours: for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

17:18  sed transibis ad montem, et succides tibi, atque purgabis ad habitandum spatia : et poteris ultra procedere cum subverteris Chananæum, quem dicis ferreos habere currus, et esse fortissimum.
