17:1  Then all the multitude of the children of Israel setting forward from the desert of Sin, by their mansions, according to the word of the Lord, encamped in Raphidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

17:1  And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the Lord, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

17:1  Celá pospolitost synů Izraele táhla z pouště Sínu od stanoviště ke stanovišti podle Hospodinova rozkazu. Utábořili se v Refídimu, ale lid neměl vodu k pití.

17:1  Celá izraelská obec potom podle Hospodinova rozkazu vytáhla z pouště Sin na další cestu. Když se však utábořili v Refidimu, nebyla tam voda, aby lid mohl pít.

17:2  Tu se lid dostal do sváru s Mojžíšem a naléhali: „Dejte nám vodu, chceme pít!“ Mojžíš se jich zeptal: „Proč se se mnou přete? Proč pokoušíte Hospodina?“

17:2  Protož domlouval se lid na Mojžíše, pravě: Dejte nám vody, abychom pili. Jimž odpověděl Mojžíš: Proč se na mne domlouváte? Proč pokoušíte Hospodina?

17:2  Wherefore the people contended with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why chide you with me? why do ye tempt the LORD?

17:2  Therefore the people quarreled with Moses, and said, "Give us water to drink." Moses said to them, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?"

17:2  Why the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why chide you with me? why do you tempt the LORD?

17:2  Qui jurgatus contra Moysen, ait : Da nobis aquam, ut bibamus. Quibus respondit Moyses : Quid jurgamini contra me ? cur tentatis Dominum ?

17:3  So the people were thirsty there for want of water, and murmured against Moses, saying: Why didst thou make us go forth out of Egypt, to kill us and our children, and our beasts with thirst?

17:3  And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

17:3  Lid tam žíznil po vodě a reptal proti Mojžíšovi. Vyčítali: „Proto jsi nás vyvedl z Egypta, abys nás, naše syny a stáda umořil žízní?“

17:3  A tak tam lid žíznil po vodě a reptal proti Mojžíšovi. „Proč jsi nás vyvedl z Egypta?“ vyčítali mu. „Abys nás i s našimi syny a dobytkem umořil žízní?!“

17:3  Ale lid tam žíznil po vodě a reptal proti Mojžíšovi. Říkali: Proč jsi nás vyvedl z Egypta? Abys nás, naše syny i náš dobytek nechal zemřít žízní?

17:3  I žíznil tu lid pro nedostatek vod, a reptal na Mojžíše a mluvil: Proč jsi vyvedl nás z Egypta, abys mne s syny i dobytky mými žízní zmořil?

17:3  And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Why [is] this [that] thou hast brought us out of Egypt to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

17:3  The people were thirsty for water there; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?"

17:3  And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Why is this that you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

17:3  Sitivit ergo ibi populus præ aquæ penuria, et murmuravit contra Moysen, dicens : Cur fecisti nos exire de Ægypto, ut occideres nos, et liberos nostros, ac jumenta siti ?

17:4  And Moses cried to the Lord, saying: What shall I do to this people? Yet a little more and they will stone me.

17:4  And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

17:4  Mojžíš úpěl k Hospodinu: „Jak se mám vůči tomuto lidu zachovat? Taktak že mě neukamenují.“

17:4  And Moses cried to the LORD, saying, What shall I do to this people? they are almost ready to stone me.

17:5  And the Lord said to Moses: Go before the people, and take with thee of the ancients of Israel: and take in thy hand the rod wherewith thou didst strike the river, and go.

17:5  And the Lord said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.

17:5  Hospodin Mojžíšovi řekl: „Vyjdi před lid. Vezmi s sebou některé z izraelských starších. Také hůl, kterou jsi udeřil do Nilu, si vezmi do ruky a jdi.

17:5  Hospodin Mojžíšovi řekl: „Vyjdi před lid a vezmi s sebou některé z izraelských stařešinů. Vezmi s sebou i svou hůl, kterou jsi udeřil do Nilu, a jdi.

17:5  Hospodin Mojžíšovi odpověděl: Předstup před lid a vezmi s sebou některé z izraelských starších. Také svou hůl, s níž jsi udeřil Nil, si vezmi do ruky a jdi.

17:5  I řekl Hospodin Mojžíšovi: Jdiž před lidem, pojma s sebou některé z starších Izraelských; hůl také svou, kterouž jsi udeřil v vodu, vezmi do ruky své a jdi.

17:5  And the LORD said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel: and thy rod, with which thou smotest the river, take in thy hand, and go.

17:5  The Lord said to Moses, "Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go.

17:5  And the LORD said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel; and your rod, with which you smote the river, take in your hand, and go.

17:5  Et ait Dominus ad Moysen : Antecede populum, et sume tecum de senioribus Israël : et virgam qua percussisti fluvium, tolle in manu tua, et vade.

17:6  Behold I will stand there before thee, upon the rock Horeb, and thou shalt strike the rock, and water shall come out of it that the people may drink. Moses did so before the ancients of Israel:

17:6  Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

17:6  Já tam budu stát před tebou na skále na Chorébu. Udeříš do skály a vyjde z ní voda, aby lid mohl pít.“ Mojžíš to udělal před očima izraelských starších.

17:6  Pohleď, já budu stát před tebou tam na té skále, na Orébu. Udeř do skály a vyjde z ní voda, aby lid měl co pít.“ A Mojžíš to před očima izraelských stařešinů učinil.

17:6  Hle, budu tam stát před tebou na skále na Chorébu. Udeříš do skály a vyjde z ní voda, aby lid mohl pít. Mojžíš to učinil před očima izraelských starších.

17:6  Aj, já státi budu před tebou tam na skále, na Orébě; i udeříš v skálu, a vyjdou z ní vody, kteréž bude píti lid. I učinil tak Mojžíš před očima starších Izraelských.

17:6  Behold, I will stand before thee there on the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and water shall come out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

17:7  And he called the name of that place Temptation, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and for that they tempted the Lord, saying: Is the Lord amongst us or not?

17:7  And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not?

17:7  To místo pojmenoval Massa a Meriba (to je Pokušení a Svár) podle sváru Izraelců a proto, že pokoušeli Hospodina pochybováním: „Je mezi námi Hospodin nebo není?“

17:7  And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

17:7  He called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because the children of Israel quarreled, and because they tested the Lord, saying, "Is the Lord among us, or not?"

17:8  And Amalec came, and fought against Israel in Raphidim.

17:9  Mojžíš rozkázal Jozuovi: „Vyber nám muže a vyjdi do boje proti Amálekovi. Já se zítra postavím na vrchol pahorku s Hospodinovou holí v ruce.“

17:9  Mojžíš tenkrát řekl Jozuovi: „Vyber si muže a vytáhni s nimi do boje proti Amalekovi. Já se zítra postavím na vrchol pahorku a budu mít v ruce Boží hůl.“

17:9  Mojžíš řekl Jozuovi: Vyber nám muže a jdi bojovat s Amálekem. Zítra budu stát na vrcholu kopce s Boží holí v ruce.

17:9  I řekl Mojžíš k Jozue: Vybeř nám některé muže, a vytáhna, bojuj s Amalechem; já zítra státi budu na vrchu hory, a hůl Boží v ruce své míti budu.

17:9  And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to-morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

17:9  Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us, and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God's rod in my hand."

17:10  Josue did as Moses had spoken, and he fought against Amalec; but Moses, and Aaron, and Hur, went up upon the top of the hill.

17:14  And the LORD said to Moses, Write this [for] a memorial in a book, and rehearse [it] in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

17:14  The Lord said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky."
