21:1  And there was a famine in the days of David for three years successively: and David consulted the oracle of the Lord. And the Lord said: It is for Saul, and his bloody house, because he slow the Gabaonites.

21:1  Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

21:1  Za dnů Davidových byl hlad po tři roky za sebou. David tedy vyhledal Hospodinovu tvář. Hospodin řekl: „Na Saulovi a jeho domu lpí krev, protože dal povraždit Gibeóňany.“

21:1  Za Davidových dnů byl po tři roky za sebou hlad, a tak David hledal Hospodinovu tvář. Hospodin řekl: „Na Saulovi a jeho rodině lpí krev, protože dal zabíjet Gibeonce.“

21:1  Za dnů Davidových byl po tři roky hlad, rok co rok. Proto David hledal Hospodinovu přítomnost. Hospodin řekl: ⌈Je to kvůli Saulovi a jeho krvelačnému domu,⌉ protože usmrtil Gibeóňany.

21:2  And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

21:2  Král předvolal Gibeóňany a promluvil k nim. Gibeóňané nejsou z Izraelců, nýbrž ze zbytku Emorejců, jimž se Izraelci zavázali přísahou, ale Saul je usiloval vybít ve svém zanícení pro Izraelce a Judu.

21:2  Král si je tedy zavolal a promluvil s nimi. (Gibeonci nepocházejí ze synů Izraele, ale ze zbytku Emorejců. Synové Izraele se jim zavázali přísahou, ale Saul se je ve své horlivosti pro Izrael a Judu snažil vybít.)

21:2  Král zavolal Gibeóňany a mluvil k nim. (Gibeóňané nejsou ze synů izraelských, nýbrž ze zbytku Emorejců. Synové izraelští jim přísahali, že je nepobijí, Saul je však chtěl pobít, když vzplál horlivostí pro syny izraelské a judské.)

21:2  Tedy povolav král Gabaonitských, mluvil k nim. (Gabaonitští pak nebyli z synů Izraelských, ale z ostatků Amorejských, jimž ačkoli byli synové Izraelští přísahou se zavázali, však Saul usiloval je vypléniti, v horlivosti své pro syny Izraelské a Judské.)

21:2  And the king called the Gibeonites, and said to them; (now the Gibeonites [were] not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them: and Saul sought to slay them, in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

21:3  David se Gibeóňanů zeptal: Co mám pro vás udělat a čím si vás mohu usmířit, abyste žehnali Hospodinovu dědictví?

21:3  A řekl David Gabaonitským: Což vám učiním a čím vás spokojím, abyste dobrořečili dědictví Hospodinovu?

21:3  Wherefore David said to the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and with what shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

21:4  And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

21:4  Gibeóňané mu odvětili: „Co se týče Saula a jeho domu, nejde nám o stříbro a zlato, ani nám nejde o to, aby byl usmrcen kdokoli z Izraele.“ Pravil: „Co řeknete, to pro vás udělám.“

21:4  And the Gibeonites said to him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, [that] will I do for you.

21:4  The Gibeonites said to him, "It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul, or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel." He said, "Whatever you say, that will I do for you."

21:5  And they said to the king: The man that crushed us and oppressed us unjustly, we must destroy in such manner that there be not so much as one left of his stock in all the coasts of Israel.

21:6  Let seven men of his children be delivered unto us, that we may crucify them to the Lord in Gabaa of Saul, once the chosen of the Lord. And the king said: I will give them.

21:6  nechť je nám vydáno sedm mužů z jeho synů a my jim zpřerážíme údy v Gibeji Saula, někdejšího Hospodinova vyvoleného, kvůli Hospodinu.“ Král prohlásil: „Vydám je.“

21:7  And the king spared Miphiboseth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord, that had been between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

21:7  Král však ušetřil Mefíbóšeta, syna Jónatana, syna Saulova, pro přísahu ve jménu Hospodinově, která byla mezi nimi, totiž mezi Davidem a Jónatanem, synem Saulovým.

21:7  Král ovšem ušetřil Mefibošeta, syna Jonatana, syna Saulova, a to kvůli přísaze, kterou spolu kdysi David a Saulův syn Jonatan uzavřeli v Hospodinově jménu.

21:8  So the king took the two sons of Respha the daughter of Aia, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni, and Miphiboseth: and the five sons of Michol the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Hadriel the son of Berzellai, that was of Molathi:

21:8  But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:

21:8  Král vzal dva syny Rispy, dcery Ajovy, jež porodila Saulovi, Armóna a Mefíbóšeta, a pět synů Saulovy dcery, Míkaliny sestry, které porodila Adríelovi, synu Barzilaje Mechólatského,

21:9  And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

21:9  a vydal je Gibeóňanům do rukou. Ti jim zpřeráželi údy na hoře před Hospodinem. Tak jich najednou padlo sedm. Byli usmrcení v prvních dnech žně, když se začal žít ječmen.

21:10  And Respha the daughter of Aia took haircloth, and spread it under her upon the rock from the beginning of the harvest, till water dropped upon them out of heaven: and suffered neither the birds to tear them by day, nor the beasts by night.

21:10  And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

21:12  And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh–gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth–shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

21:12  David šel a vzal kosti Saulovy i kosti jeho syna Jónatana od občanů Jábeše v Gileádu, kteří je potají odnesli z bétšanského prostranství, kde je pověsili Pelištejci v den, kdy porazili Saula v pohoří Gilbóa.
