14:3  And his father and mother said to him: Is there no woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou wilt take a wife of the Philistines, who are uncircumcised? And Samson said to his father: Take this woman for me; for she hath pleased my eyes.

14:3  Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

14:3  Ale otec s matkou mu bránili: „Což není žádná mezi dcerami tvých bratří a všeho mého lidu, že si jdeš pro ženu mezi pelištejské neobřezance?“ Samson však svému otci odpověděl: „Vezmi pro mne tuto, protože to je v mých očích ta pravá!“

14:3  Otec a matka mu ale řekli: „Copak se nenajde žena ve tvém příbuzenstvu ani v celém našem lidu? Proč by ses chodil ženit k těm neobřezaným Filištínům?“ „Tuhle chci,“ odpověděl Samson otci, „tahle se mi líbí!“

14:3  Jeho otec a matka mu však řekli: Cožpak se nenajde žena mezi dcerami tvých bratrů a v celém mém lidu, že si jdeš vzít ženu z neobřezaných Pelištejců? Ale Samson svému otci odpověděl: Tu pro mě vezmi, protože ona je v mých očích ta pravá.

14:3  I řekl mu otec jeho a matka jeho: Zdali není mezi dcerami bratří tvých a ve všem lidu mém ženy, že sobě vzíti chceš manželku z Filistinských neobřezaných? Odpověděl Samson otci svému: Tuto vezměte mi, nebť mi se líbí.

14:3  Then his father and his mother said to him, [Is there] not a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said to his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

14:4  Now his parents knew not that the thing was done by the Lord, and that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

14:4  Otec s matkou netušili, že je to od Hospodina, že hledá záminku proti Pelištejcům; toho času totiž vládli nad Izraelem Pelištejci.

14:4  (Jeho otec a matka ovšem nevěděli, že to bylo od Hospodina – že hledá proti Filištínům záminku. Filištíni totiž v té době ovládali Izrael.)

14:4  Jeho otec ani matka nevěděli, že je od Hospodina, protože on hledá u Pelištejců příležitost. V oné době Pelištejci vládli nad Izraelci.

14:4  Otec pak jeho a matka jeho nevěděli, by to od Hospodina bylo, a že příčiny hledá od Filistinských; nebo toho času panovali Filistinští nad Izraelem.

14:9  And when he had taken it in his hands, he went on eating: and coming to his father and mother, he gave them of it, and they ate: but he would not tell them that he had taken the honey from the body of the lion.

14:14  And he said to them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

14:15  And when the seventh day came, they said to the wife of Samson: Sooth thy husband, and persuade him to tell thee what the riddle meaneth. But if thou wilt not do it, we will burn thee, and thy father's house. Have you called us to the wedding on purpose to strip us?

14:15  And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?

14:15  Po tři dny nebyli s to hádanku rozluštit. Sedmého dne navedli Samsonovu ženu: „Přemluv svého muže, ať nám hádanku prozradí! Jinak tě i s domem tvého otce upálíme. To jste nás sem pozvali, abyste nás obrali?“

14:15  Čtvrtého dne požádali Samsonovu ženu: „Vytáhni ze svého muže řešení té hádanky. Jinak tě i s domem tvého otce upálíme. To jste nás sem pozvali, abyste nás obrali?“

14:15  Když nastal sedmý den, řekli Samsonově ženě: Přemluv svého muže, ať nám sdělí řešení té hádanky, jinak spálíme tebe i dům tvého otce ohněm. Copak jste nás svolali kvůli našemu ožebračení? ⌈To snad ne?⌉

14:15  Stalo se pak dne sedmého, (nebo byli řekli ženě Samsonově: Namluv muže svého, ať nám vyloží tu pohádku, ať nespálíme tě i domu otce tvého ohněm. Proto-liž, abyste našeho statku dostali, pozvali jste nás? Či co?

14:15  And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take what we possess? [is it] not [so]?

14:15  And it happened on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, "Entice your husband, that he may tell us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Is it not so?"

14:15  And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: have you called us to take that we have? is it not so?

14:15  Cumque adesset dies septimus, dixerunt ad uxorem Samson : Blandire viro tuo et suade ei ut indicet tibi quid significet problema : quod si facere nolueris, incendemus te, et domum patris tui : an idcirco vocastis nos ad nuptias ut spoliaretis ?

14:16  So she wept before Samson and complained, saying: Thou hatest me, and dost not love me: therefore thou wilt not expound to me the riddle, which thou hast proposed to the sons of my people. But he answered: I would not tell it to my father and mother: and how can I tell it to thee?

14:16  And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?

14:16  I vyčítala ta žena s pláčem Samsonovi: „Chováš vůči mně jenom nenávist, nemáš mě rád! Dals hádanku synům mého lidu a neprozradil jsi mi ji.“ Odpověděl jí: „Ani svému otci a své matce jsem ji neprozradil, a tobě bych ji měl prozradit?“

14:16  Samsonova žena tedy na něj s pláčem dotírala: „Ty mě vůbec nemáš rád! Ty mě nemiluješ. Dal jsi mým lidem hádanku, a mně jsi ji neprozradil.“ „Neprozradil jsem ji ani svému otci a matce,“ řekl jí na to, „a tobě ji mám prozradit?“
