Chapter 13
Roma DRC 13:1  Let every soul be subject to higher powers. For there is no power but from God: and those that are ordained of God.
Roma KJV 13:1  Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Roma VulgClem 13:1  Omnis anima potestatibus sublimioribus subdita sit : non est enim potestas nisi a Deo : quæ autem sunt, a Deo ordinatæ sunt.
Roma DRC 13:2  Therefore, he that resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist purchase to themselves damnation.
Roma KJV 13:2  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Roma VulgClem 13:2  Itaque qui resistit potestati, Dei ordinationi resistit. Qui autem resistunt, ipsi sibi damnationem acquirunt :
Roma DRC 13:3  For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same.
Roma KJV 13:3  For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
Roma VulgClem 13:3  nam principes non sunt timori boni operis, sed mali. Vis autem non timere potestatem ? Bonum fac : et habebis laudem ex illa :
Roma DRC 13:4  For he is God's minister to thee, for good. But if thou do that which is evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword in vain. For he is God's minister: an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil.
Roma KJV 13:4  For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Roma DRC 13:5  Wherefore be subject of necessity: not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake.
Roma KJV 13:5  Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
Roma DRC 13:6  For therefore also you pay tribute. For they are the ministers of God, serving unto this purpose.
Roma KJV 13:6  For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Roma DRC 13:7  Render therefore to all men their dues. Tribute, to whom tribute is due: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom fear: honour, to whom honour.
Roma KJV 13:7  Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Roma VulgClem 13:7  Reddite ergo omnibus debita : cui tributum, tributum : cui vectigal, vectigal : cui timorem, timorem : cui honorem, honorem.
Roma DRC 13:8  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another. For he that loveth his neighbour hath fulfilled the law.
Roma KJV 13:8  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Roma DRC 13:9  For: Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Thou shalt not covet. And if there be any other commandment, it is comprised in this word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Roma KJV 13:9  For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Roma DRC 13:10  The love of our neighbour worketh no evil. Love therefore is the fulfilling of the law.
Roma KJV 13:10  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Roma VulgClem 13:10  Dilectio proximi malum non operatur. Plenitudo ergo legis est dilectio.
Roma DRC 13:11  And that, knowing the season, that it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep. For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed.
Roma KJV 13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Roma DRC 13:12  The night is passed And the day is at hand. Let us, therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light.
Roma KJV 13:12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Roma VulgClem 13:12  Nox præcessit, dies autem appropinquavit. Abjiciamus ergo opera tenebrarum, et induamur arma lucis.
Roma DRC 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day: not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and impurities, not in contention and envy.
Roma KJV 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Roma DRC 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ: and make not provision for the flesh in its concupiscences.
Roma KJV 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Roma VulgClem 13:14  sed induimini Dominum Jesum Christum, et carnis curam ne feceritis in desideriis.
