Zeph | KJV | 2:2 | Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord’s anger come upon you.
Zeph | DRC | 2:3 | Seek the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, you that have wrought his judgment: seek the just, seek the meek: if by any means you may be hid in the day of the Lord's indignation.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:3 | Quærite Dominum, omnes mansueti terræ, qui judicium ejus estis operati ; quærite justum, quærite mansuetum, si quomodo abscondamini in die furoris Domini.
Zeph | KJV | 2:3 | Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.

Zeph | VulgClem | 2:4 | Quia Gaza destructa erit, et Ascalon in desertum : Azotum in meridie ejicient, et Accaron eradicabitur.
Zeph | KJV | 2:4 | For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
Zeph | DRC | 2:5 | Woe to you that inhabit the sea coast, O nation of reprobates: the word of the Lord upon you, O Chanaan, the land of the Philistines, and I will destroy thee, so that there shall not be an inhabitant.
Zeph | KJV | 2:5 | Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Zeph | DRC | 2:6 | And the sea coast shall be the resting place of shepherds, and folds for cattle:
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:6 | Et erit funiculus maris requies pastorum, et caulæ pecorum ;
Zeph | KJV | 2:6 | And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
Zeph | DRC | 2:7 | And it shall be the portion of him that shall remain of the house of Juda, there they shall feed: in the houses of Ascalon they shall rest in the evening: because the Lord their God will visit them, and bring back their captivity.

Zeph | DRC | 2:8 | I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the blasphemies of the children of Ammon, with which they reproached my people, and have magnified themselves upon their borders.
Zeph | KJV | 2:8 | I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.
Zeph | DRC | 2:9 | Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrha, the dryness of thorns, and heaps of salt, and a desert even for ever: the remnant of my people shall make a spoil of them, and the residue of my nation shall possess them.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:9 | Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël, quia Moab ut Sodoma erit, et filii Ammon quasi Gomorrha : siccitas spinarum, et acervi salis, et desertum usque in æternum : reliquiæ populi mei diripient eos, et residui gentis meæ possidebunt illos.
Zeph | KJV | 2:9 | Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
Zeph | DRC | 2:10 | This shall befall them for their pride: because they have blasphemed, and have been magnified against the people of the Lord of hosts.
Zeph | KJV | 2:10 | This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.
Zeph | DRC | 2:11 | The Lord shall be terrible upon them, and shall consume all the gods of the earth: and they shall adore him every man from his own place, all the islands of the Gentiles.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:11 | Horribilis Dominus super eos, et attenuabit omnes deos terræ : et adorabunt eum viri de loco suo, omnes insulæ gentium.
Zeph | KJV | 2:11 | The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
Zeph | DRC | 2:12 | You Ethiopians, also shall be slain with my sword.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:12 | Sed et vos, Æthiopes, interfecti gladio meo eritis.
Zeph | KJV | 2:12 | Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.
Zeph | DRC | 2:13 | And he will stretch out his hand upon the north, and will destroy Assyria: and he will make the beautiful city a wilderness, and as a place not passable, and as a desert.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:13 | Et extendet manum suam super aquilonem, et perdet Assur, et ponet speciosam in solitudinem, et in invium, et quasi desertum.
Zeph | KJV | 2:13 | And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
Zeph | DRC | 2:14 | And flocks shall lie down in the midst thereof, all the beasts of the nations: and the bittern and the urchin shall lodge in the threshold thereof: the voice of the singing bird in the window, the raven on the upper post, for I will consume her strength.
Zeph | VulgClem | 2:14 | Et accubabunt in medio ejus greges, omnes bestiæ gentium ; et onocrotalus et ericius in liminibus ejus morabuntur : vox cantantis in fenestra, corvus in superliminari, quoniam attenuabo robur ejus.
Zeph | KJV | 2:14 | And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
Zeph | DRC | 2:15 | This is the glorious city that dwelt in security: that said in her heart: I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desert, a place for beasts to lie down in? every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
Zeph | KJV | 2:15 | This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
