Chapter 8
I Co DRC 8:1  Now concerning those things that are sacrificed to idols: we know we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up: but charity edifieth.
I Co VulgClem 8:1  De iis autem quæ idolis sacrificantur, scimus quia omnes scientiam habemus. Scientia inflat, caritas vero ædificat.
I Co KJV 8:1  Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
I Co DRC 8:2  And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he hath not yet known as he ought to know.
I Co VulgClem 8:2  Si quis autem se existimat scire aliquid, nondum cognovit quemadmodum oporteat eum scire.
I Co KJV 8:2  And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
I Co DRC 8:3  But if any man love God, the same is known by him.
I Co KJV 8:3  But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
I Co DRC 8:4  But as for the meats that are sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is no God but one.
I Co KJV 8:4  As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
I Co DRC 8:5  For although there be that are called gods, either in heaven or on earth (for there be gods many and lords many):
I Co VulgClem 8:5  Nam etsi sunt qui dicantur dii sive in cælo, sive in terra (siquidem sunt dii multi, et domini multi) :
I Co KJV 8:5  For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
I Co DRC 8:6  Yet to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him: and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
I Co KJV 8:6  But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
I Co DRC 8:7  But there is not knowledge in every one. For some until this present, with conscience of the idol, eat as a thing sacrificed to an idol: and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
I Co KJV 8:7  Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
I Co DRC 8:8  But meat doth not commend us to God. For neither, if we eat, shall we have the more: nor, if we eat not, shall we have the less.
I Co KJV 8:8  But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
I Co DRC 8:9  But take heed lest perhaps this your liberty become a stumblingblock to the weak.
I Co VulgClem 8:9  Videte autem ne forte hæc licentia vestra offendiculum fiat infirmis.
I Co KJV 8:9  But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
I Co DRC 8:10  For if a man see him that hath knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not his conscience, being weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols?
I Co KJV 8:10  For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
I Co DRC 8:11  And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ hath died?
I Co VulgClem 8:11  Et peribit infirmus in tua scientia, frater, propter quem Christus mortuus est ?
I Co KJV 8:11  And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
I Co DRC 8:12  Now when you sin thus against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
I Co VulgClem 8:12  Sic autem peccantes in fratres, et percutientes conscientiam eorum infirmam, in Christum peccatis.
I Co KJV 8:12  But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
I Co DRC 8:13  Wherefore, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat flesh, lest I should scandalize my brother.
I Co VulgClem 8:13  Quapropter si esca scandalizat fratrem meum, non manducabo carnem in æternum, ne fratrem meum scandalizem.
I Co KJV 8:13  Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
