Chapter 52
Isai DRC 52:1  Arise, arise, put on thy strength, O Sion, put on the garments of thy glory, O Jerusalem, the city of the Holy One: for henceforth the uncircumcised, and unclean shall no more pass through thee.
Isai KJV 52:1  Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
Isai DRC 52:2  Shake thyself from the dust, arise, sit up, O Jerusalem: loose the bonds from off thy neck, O captive daughter of Sion.
Isai VulgClem 52:2  Excutere de pulvere, consurge ; sede, Jerusalem ! solve vincula colli tui, captiva filia Sion.
Isai KJV 52:2  Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
Isai DRC 52:3  For thus saith the Lord: You were sold gratis, and you shall be redeemed, without money.
Isai VulgClem 52:3  Quia hæc dicit Dominus : Gratis venundati estis, et sine argento redimemini.
Isai KJV 52:3  For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
Isai DRC 52:4  For thus saith the Lord God: My people went down into Egypt at the beginning to sojourn there: and the Assyrian hath oppressed them without any cause at all.
Isai VulgClem 52:4  Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus : In Ægyptum descendit populus meus in principio, ut colonus esset ibi, et Assur absque ulla causa calumniatus est eum.
Isai KJV 52:4  For thus saith the Lord God, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
Isai DRC 52:5  And now what have I here, saith the Lord: for my people is taken away gratis. They that rule over them treat them unjustly, saith the Lord, and my name is continually blasphemed all the day long.
Isai VulgClem 52:5  Et nunc quid mihi est hic, dicit Dominus, quoniam ablatus est populus meus gratis ? Dominatores ejus inique agunt, dicit Dominus, et jugiter tota die nomen meum blasphematur.
Isai KJV 52:5  Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
Isai DRC 52:6  Therefore my people shall know my name in that day: for I myself that spoke, behold I am here.
Isai VulgClem 52:6  Propter hoc sciet populus meus nomen meum in die illa : quia ego ipse qui loquebar, ecce adsum.
Isai KJV 52:6  Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
Isai DRC 52:7  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, and that preacheth peace: of him that sheweth forth good, that preacheth salvation, that saith to Sion: Thy God shall reign!
Isai VulgClem 52:7  Quam pulchri super montes pedes annuntiantis et prædicantis pacem ; annuntiantis bonum, prædicantis salutem, dicentis Sion : Regnabit Deus tuus !
Isai KJV 52:7  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
Isai DRC 52:8  The voice of thy watchmen: they have lifted up their voice, they shall praise together: for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall convert Sion.
Isai VulgClem 52:8  Vox speculatorum tuorum : levaverunt vocem, simul laudabunt, quia oculo ad oculum videbunt cum converterit Dominus Sion.
Isai KJV 52:8  Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion.
Isai DRC 52:9  Rejoice, and give praise together, O ye deserts of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people: he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
Isai VulgClem 52:9  Gaudete, et laudate simul, deserta Jerusalem, quia consolatus est Dominus populum suum ; redemit Jerusalem.
Isai KJV 52:9  Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
Isai DRC 52:10  The Lord hath prepared his holy arm in the sight of all the Gentiles: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Isai VulgClem 52:10  Paravit Dominus brachium sanctum suum in oculis omnium gentium ; et videbunt omnes fines terræ salutare Dei nostri.
Isai KJV 52:10  The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Isai DRC 52:11  Depart, depart, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing: go out of the midst of her, be ye clean, you that carry the vessels of the Lord.
Isai VulgClem 52:11  Recedite, recedite ; exite inde, pollutum nolite tangere ; exite de medio ejus ; mundamini, qui fertis vasa Domini.
Isai KJV 52:11  Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.
Isai DRC 52:12  For you shall not go out in a tumult, neither shall you make haste by flight: for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will gather you together.
Isai VulgClem 52:12  Quoniam non in tumultu exibitis, nec in fuga properabitis ; præcedet enim vos Dominus, et congregabit vos Deus Israël.
Isai KJV 52:12  For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.
Isai DRC 52:13  Behold my servant shall understand, he shall be exalted, and extolled, and shall be exceeding high.
Isai VulgClem 52:13  Ecce intelliget servus meus, exaltabitur et elevabitur, et sublimis erit valde.
Isai KJV 52:13  Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
Isai DRC 52:14  As many have been astonished at thee, so shall his visage be inglorious among men, and his form among the sons of men.
Isai VulgClem 52:14  Sicut obstupuerunt super te multi, sic inglorius erit inter viros aspectus ejus, et forma ejus inter filios hominum.
Isai KJV 52:14  As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Isai DRC 52:15  He shall sprinkle many nations, kings shall shut their mouth at him: for they to whom it was not told of him, have seen: and they that heard not, have beheld.
Isai VulgClem 52:15  Iste asperget gentes multas ; super ipsum continebunt reges os suum : quia quibus non est narratum de eo viderunt, et qui non audierunt contemplati sunt.
Isai KJV 52:15  So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
