20:1  Now Phassur the son of Emmer, the priest, who was appointed chief in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these words.

20:1  Pašchúr, syn kněze Iméra, jenž byl vrchním dohlížitelem v Hospodinově domě, slyšel Jeremjáše prorokovat tato slova.

20:3  And when it was light the next day, Phassur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. And Jeremiah said to him: The Lord hath not called thy name Phassur, but fear on every side.

20:3  And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The Lord hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor–missabib.

20:3  And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah to him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.

20:3  It happened on the next day, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, "The Lord has not called your name 'Pashhur,' but 'Magormissabib.'

20:3  And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah to him, The LORD has not called your name Pashur, but Magormissabib.

20:4  For thus saith the Lord: Behold I will deliver thee up to fear, thee and all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thy eyes shall see it, and I will give all Juda into the hand of the king of Babylon: and he shall carry them away to Babylon, and shall strike them with the sword.

20:4  For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.

20:4  Toto praví Hospodin: „Děsu vydám tebe i všechny tvé přátele. Před tvými zraky padnou mečem svých nepřátel. Celé Judsko vydám do rukou babylónskému králi. On je přestěhuje do Babylóna a pobije mečem.

20:4  Tak praví Hospodin: Hle, vydávám tě hrůze – tebe i všechny tvé přátele, kteří před tvýma očima padnou mečem tvých nepřátel. Všechen lid Judy vydám do rukou babylonského krále, který je odvleče do Babylonu a pobije mečem.

20:4  protože toto praví Hospodin: Hle, vydám tě hrůze, tebe a všechny tvé přátele. Padnou mečem svých nepřátel a tvoje oči se na to budou dívat. ⌈Celého Judu⌉ vydám do ruky babylonského krále a odvedu je do Babylona a pobiji je mečem.

20:4  Nebo takto praví Hospodin: Aj, já pustím na tebe strach, na tebe i na všecky přátely tvé, kteříž padnou od meče nepřátel svých, načež oči tvé hleděti budou, když všecken lid Judský vydám v ruku krále Babylonského, kterýž zavede je do Babylona, a mečem je pobije.

20:5  And I will give all the substance of this city, and all its labour, and every precious thing thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Juda will I give into the hands of their enemies: and they shall pillage them, and take them away, and carry them to Babylon.

20:5  Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.

20:5  Vydám též celou klenotnici tohoto města s veškerým jeho jměním a s veškerými jeho drahocennostmi, rovněž všechny poklady judských králů vydám do rukou jejich nepřátel; uloupí je, vezmou a odnesou do Babylóna.

20:5  Všechno bohatství tohoto města vydám do rukou jejich nepřátel – všechen jeho zisk, všechny cennosti i všechny judské královské poklady. To všechno ukořistí, uloupí a odnese do Babylonu.

20:5  Vydám všechno bohatství tohoto města, všechen jeho majetek, všechny jeho drahocennosti; všechny poklady judských králů vydám do ruky jejich nepřátel. Ukořistí je, vezmou je a odnesou je do Babylona.

20:5  Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all its labors, and all its precious things, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, who shall pillage them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.

20:6  But thou Phassur, and all that dwell in thy house, shall go into captivity, and thou shalt go to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there thou shalt be buried, thou and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied a lie.

20:7  Thou hast deceived me, O Lord, and I am deceived: thou hast been stronger than I, and thou hast prevailed. I am become a laughingstock all the day, all scoff at me.

20:7  Přemlouvals mě, Hospodine, a dal jsem se přemluvit. Zdolal jsi mě a přemohl. Po celé dny jsem jen pro smích, každý se mi vysmívá.

20:7  Sváděl jsi mě, Hospodine, a já se nechal svést. Zmocnil ses mě a zdolals mě. Vysmívají se mi celé dny, každý má ze mě legraci.

20:7  ⌈Přemlouvals mě,⌉ Hospodine, a dal jsem se přemluvit. Přemáhal jsi mě a zdolal. Celý den jsem na posměch, všichni se mi posmívají.

20:7  Namlouvals mne, Hospodine, a dalť jsem se přemluviti; silnějšís byl nežli já, protož zmocnils se mne. Jsem v posměchu každý den, každý se mi posmívá.

20:7  O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

20:7  Lord, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded; you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocks me.

20:7  O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocks me.

20:7  Seduxisti me, Domine, et seductus sum : fortior me fuisti, et invaluisti : factus sum in derisum tota die ; omnes subsannant me.

20:8  For I am speaking now this long time, crying out against iniquity, and I often proclaim devastation: and the word of the Lord is made a reproach to me, and a derision all the day.

20:8  Sotvaže promluvím, upím, přivolávám násilí a zhoubu, neboť Hospodinovo slovo mi přináší jen potupu a pošklebky po celé dny.

20:8  Křičím, kdykoli promluvím, vykřikuji: „Zkáza! Násilí!“ Slovo Hospodinovo mi přináší celé dny hanbu a posměšky.

20:8  Protože pokaždé, když promluvím, křičím a vyhlašuji: Násilí a zkáza. Ano, Hospodinovo slovo se mi stalo zdrojem potupy a pošklebků po celý den.

20:8  Nebo jakž jsem začal mluviti, úpím, pro ukrutenství a zhoubu křičím; slovo zajisté Hospodinovo jest mi ku potupě a ku posměchu každého dne.

20:8  For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach to me, and a derision, daily.

20:9  Řekl jsem: „Nebudu je připomínat, už nebudu v jeho jménu mluvit“, avšak je v mém srdci jak hořící oheň, je uzavřeno v mých kostech, jsem vyčerpán tím, co musím snášet, dál už nemohu.

20:9  Et dixi : Non recordabor ejus, neque loquar ultra in nomine illius : et factus est in corde meo quasi ignis exæstuans, claususque in ossibus meis, et defeci, ferre non sustinens.

20:10  For I heard the reproaches of many, and terror on every side: Persecute him, and let us persecute him: from all the men that were my familiars, and continued at my side: if by any means he may be deceived, and we may prevail against him, and be revenged on him.

20:10  For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

20:10  Z mnoha stran pomluvy slyším. Kolkolem děs! „Udejte ho!“ „Udáme ho!“ Kdekdo z těch, s nimiž jsem pokojně žil, čeká, až se zhroutím. „Snad se dá nachytat, pak ho přemůžeme, zajmeme ho a pomstíme se mu.“

20:10  Od tolika lidí slyším nařčení: „Hrůza všude kolem, Magor-misaviv! Udejte ho! Pojďme ho nahlásit!“ Všichni mí přátelé čekají na můj pád: „Třeba se nechá nachytat – pak se ho zmocníme, pak se mu pomstíme!“

20:10  Vždyť slyším šeptání ⌈mnohých: Všude kolem⌉ hrůza. Udejte ho, udáme ho. ⌈Všichni moji důvěrní přátelé⌉ čekají na můj pád: Možná se dá svést, pak ho zdoláme a pomstíme se mu.

20:10  Ačkoli slýchám utrhání mnohých, i Magor missabiba, říkajících: Povězte něco na něj, a oznámíme to králi. Všickni, kteříž by měli býti přátelé moji, číhají na poklesnutí mé, říkajíce: Snad někde podveden bude, a zmocníme se ho, a pomstíme se nad ním.

20:10  For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, [say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, [saying], Perhaps he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

20:10  For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. "Denounce, and we will denounce him," say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall; "perhaps he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him."

20:10  Audivi enim contumelias multorum, et terrorem in circuitu : Persequimini, et persequamur eum, ab omnibus viris qui erant pacifici mei, et custodientes latus meum : si quomodo decipiatur, et prævaleamus adversus eum, et consequamur ultionem ex eo.

20:11  But the Lord is with me as a strong warrior: therefore they that persecute me shall fall, and shall be weak: they shall be greatly confounded, because they have not understood the everlasting reproach, which never shall be effaced.

20:11  But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

20:11  Ale Hospodin je se mnou jako přesilný bohatýr, proto moji pronásledovatelé upadnou a dál nebudou moci, velice se budou stydět, že nebudou mít úspěch, jejich věčná hanba nebude zapomenuta.

20:11  Hospodin je ale se mnou, ten udatný bojovník, a tak ti, kteří mě pronásledují, padnou a nic nezmohou. Pro jejich neúspěch je stihne hanba, věčná nezapomenutelná potupa.

20:11  Ale Hospodin je se mnou jako udatný hrdina, proto se ti, kdo mě pronásledují, zapotácejí a nepřemohou mne. Budou se velmi stydět, protože jednali nerozumně, jejich věčná ostuda nebude zapomenuta.

20:11  Ale Hospodin jest se mnou jakožto rek udatný, protož ti, kteříž mne stihají, zurážejí se, a neodolají; styděti se budou náramně, nebo se jim šťastně nezvede, aniž potupa věčná v zapomenutí dána bude.

20:11  But the LORD [is] with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: [their] everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

20:11  But the Lord is with me as an awesome mighty one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be utterly disappointed, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which shall never be forgotten.

20:12  And thou, O Lord of hosts, prover of the just, who seest the reins and the heart: let me see, I beseech thee, thy vengeance on them: for to thee I have laid open my cause.

20:12  But, O Lord of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.

20:12  Hospodine zástupů, který zkoumáš spravedlivého, ty vidíš do ledví i do srdce, kéž spatřím tvou pomstu nad nimi. Vždyť tobě jsem předložil svůj spor.

20:12  Protož ó Hospodine zástupů, kterýž zkušuješ spravedlivého, kterýž spatřuješ ledví a srdce, nechť se podívám na pomstu tvou nad nimi, tobě zajisté zjevil jsem při svou.

20:12  But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, [and] seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for to thee have I opened my cause.

20:13  Sing ye to the Lord, praise the Lord: because he hath delivered the soul of the poor out of the hand of the wicked.
