21:1  And David came to Nobe, to Achimelech, the priest and Achimelech was astonished at David's coming. And he said to him: Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

21:2  I přišel David do Nóbu ke knězi Achímelekovi. Achímelek vyděšen vyšel Davidovi vstříc a otázal se ho: „Proč jsi sám a nikdo není s tebou?“

21:3  Now therefore if thou have any thing at hand, though it were but five loaves, give me, or whatsoever thou canst find.

21:5  And David answered the priest, and said to him: Truly, as to what concerneth women, we have refrained ourselves from yesterday and the day before, when we came out, and the vessels of the young men were holy. Now this way is defiled, but it shall also be sanctified this day in the vessels.

21:5  And David answered the priest, and said to him, Of a truth women [have been] kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and [the bread is] in a manner common, yes, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

21:6  The priest therefore gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there, but only the loaves of proposition, which had been taken away from before the face of the Lord, that hot loaves might be set up.

21:6  David odpověděl knězi ujištěním: „Jistě. Žen jsme se nedotkli už předtím. Když jsem odcházel, byla těla členů družiny svatá. Cesta ovšem svatá nebyla, ale dnes bude tímto způsobem posvěcena.“

21:6  David mu odpověděl: „Žen jsme se opravdu ani nedotkli – jako obvykle, když jsem na válečné výpravě. Těla mládenců jsou svatá i při běžné výpravě, tím spíše tedy dnes.“

21:6  A tak dal jemu kněz chleby svaté; nebo nebylo tam chleba, jediné chlebové předložení, kteříž odloženi byli od tváři Hospodinovy, aby položeni byli chlebové teplí toho dne, když ti vzati byli.

21:7  Kněz mu tedy dal svatý chléb, protože tam jiný nebyl, totiž jenom chléb předkladný, který byl od Hospodinovy tváře odložen, aby tam byl položen čerstvý chléb v den, kdy se starý odebíral.

21:7  A tak mu kněz dal svatý chléb, protože tam jiný nebyl, pouze chleby předložení odebrané z Hospodinovy přítomnosti, aby byly téhož dne nahrazeny chlebem teplým.

21:7  Kněz mu tedy dal posvátný chléb, protože tam nebyl jiný chléb nežli předkladný, který byl vzat od Hospodina, aby byl položen horký chléb tehdy, když se bral starý.

21:7  (Byl pak tu jeden z služebníků Saulových v týž den, kterýž se tam pozadržel před Hospodinem, jehož jméno bylo Doeg Idumejský, nejpřednější mezi pastýři Saulovými.)

21:8  And David said to Achimelech: Hast thou here at hand a spear, or a sword? for I brought not my own sword, nor my own weapons with me, for the king's business required haste.

21:8  V onen den tam však byl jeden ze Saulových služebníků v uzavření před Hospodinem, jménem Dóeg Edómský, nejpřednější ze Saulových pastýřů.

21:8  (Byl tam ale i jeden ze Saulových služebníků, který toho dne zůstával před Hospodinem. Jmenoval se Doeg Edomský a byl to Saulův zmocněnec nad jeho pastýři.)

21:8  V ten den tam byl zadržován před Hospodinem jeden ze Saulových otroků jménem Dóeg Edómský, předák Saulových pastýřů.

21:8  I řekl David Achimelechovi: Nemáš-liž zde kopí aneb meče? Nebo ani meče svého ani braně své nevzal jsem v ruku svou, proto že rozkaz královský dotíral.

21:9  And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

21:9  David se ještě otázal Achímeleka: „Nemáš zde po ruce nějaké kopí nebo meč? Nevzal jsem s sebou svůj meč ani svou zbroj, protože králova záležitost byla neodkladná.“

21:9  „A nemáš tu po ruce nějaké kopí nebo meč?“ zeptal se ještě David Achimelecha. „Nevzal jsem si totiž s sebou meč ani jinou zbraň, protože králův rozkaz spěchal.“

21:9  Jemuž řekl kněz: Meč Goliáše Filistinského, kteréhož jsi zabil v údolí Elah, aj, ten jest zde obvinutý v roucho za efodem. Jestliže jej chceš sobě vzíti, vezmi, nebo zde jiného není kromě toho. I řekl David: Neníť přes ten, dejž mi jej.

21:9  And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it [is here] wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take [it]: for [there is] no other save that here. And David said, [There is] none like that; give it to me.

21:10  Kněz odpověděl: „Je tu meč Filištína Goliáše, kterého jsi zabil v údolí Ela. Je zabalen v plášti za efodem. Jestli chceš, vezmi si ho. Žádný jiný tu nemám.“ Na to David řekl: „Ten je nejlepší, dej mi ho.“

21:10  Kněz odpověděl: Meč Pelištejce Goliáše, kterého jsi zabil v údolí Éla, je zde, zabalený do pláště za efódem. Jestli si ho chceš vzít, vezmi si ho, protože kromě tohoto zde jiný není. David nato řekl: Není ⌈mu podobného.⌉ Dej mi ho.

21:13  Tato slova utkvěla Davidovi v mysli a velice se bál Akíše, krále Gatu.
