Chapter 140
Psal DRC 140:1  I have cried to thee, O Lord, hear me: hearken to my voice, when I cry to thee.
Psal VulgClem 140:1  Psalmus David. Domine, clamavi ad te : exaudi me ; intende voci meæ, cum clamavero ad te.
Psal KJV 140:1  Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Psal DRC 140:2  Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice.
Psal VulgClem 140:2  Dirigatur oratio mea sicut incensum in conspectu tuo ; elevatio manuum mearum sacrificium vespertinum.
Psal KJV 140:2  Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.
Psal DRC 140:3  Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: and a door round about my lips.
Psal VulgClem 140:3  Pone, Domine, custodiam ori meo, et ostium circumstantiæ labiis meis.
Psal KJV 140:3  They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.
Psal DRC 140:4  Incline not my heart to evil words; to make excuses in sins. With men that work iniquity: and I will not communicate with the choicest of them.
Psal VulgClem 140:4  Non declines cor meum in verba malitiæ, ad excusandas excusationes in peccatis ; cum hominibus operantibus iniquitatem, et non communicabo cum electis eorum.
Psal KJV 140:4  Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
Psal DRC 140:5  The just man shall correct me in mercy, and shall reprove me: but let not the oil of the sinner fatten my head. For my prayer shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased:
Psal VulgClem 140:5  Corripiet me justus in misericordia, et increpabit me : oleum autem peccatoris non impinguet caput meum. Quoniam adhuc et oratio mea in beneplacitis eorum :
Psal KJV 140:5  The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.
Psal DRC 140:6  Their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up. They shall hear my words, for they have prevailed:
Psal VulgClem 140:6  absorpti sunt juncti petræ judices eorum. Audient verba mea, quoniam potuerunt.
Psal KJV 140:6  I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.
Psal DRC 140:7  As when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground: Our bones are scattered by the side of hell.
Psal VulgClem 140:7  Sicut crassitudo terræ erupta est super terram, dissipata sunt ossa nostra secus infernum.
Psal KJV 140:7  O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Psal DRC 140:8  But to thee, O Lord, Lord, are my eyes: in thee have I put my trust, take not away my soul.
Psal VulgClem 140:8  Quia ad te, Domine, Domine, oculi mei ; in te speravi, non auferas animam meam.
Psal KJV 140:8  Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
Psal DRC 140:9  Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me, and from the stumblingblocks of them that work iniquity.
Psal VulgClem 140:9  Custodi me a laqueo quem statuerunt mihi, et a scandalis operantium iniquitatem.
Psal KJV 140:9  As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
Psal DRC 140:10  The wicked shall fall in his net: I am alone until I pass.
Psal VulgClem 140:10  Cadent in retiaculo ejus peccatores : singulariter sum ego, donec transeam.
Psal KJV 140:10  Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
