Chapter 5
Jame DRC 5:1  Go to now, ye rich men: weep and howl in your miseries, which shall come upon you.
Jame KJV 5:1  Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
Jame VulgClem 5:1  Agite nunc divites, plorate ululantes in miseriis vestris, quæ advenient vobis.
Jame DRC 5:2  Your riches are corrupted: and your garments are motheaten.
Jame KJV 5:2  Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
Jame DRC 5:3  Your gold and silver is cankered: and the rust of them shall be for a testimony against you and shall eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up to yourselves wrath against the last days.
Jame KJV 5:3  Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
Jame VulgClem 5:3  Aurum et argentum vestrum æruginavit : et ærugo eorum in testimonium vobis erit, et manducabit carnes vestras sicut ignis. Thesaurizastis vobis iram in novissimis diebus.
Jame DRC 5:4  Behold the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which by fraud has been kept back by you, crieth: and the cry of them hath entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
Jame KJV 5:4  Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
Jame VulgClem 5:4  Ecce merces operariorum, qui messuerunt regiones vestras, quæ fraudata est a vobis, clamat : et clamor eorum in aures Domini sabbaoth introivit.
Jame DRC 5:5  You have feasted upon earth: and in riotousness you have nourished your hearts, in the day of slaughter.
Jame KJV 5:5  Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
Jame VulgClem 5:5  Epulati estis super terram, et in luxuriis enutristis corda vestra in die occisionis.
Jame DRC 5:6  You have condemned and put to death the Just One: and he resisted you not.
Jame KJV 5:6  Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
Jame DRC 5:7  Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth: patiently bearing till he receive the early and latter rain.
Jame KJV 5:7  Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Jame VulgClem 5:7  Patientes igitur estote, fratres, usque ad adventum Domini. Ecce agricola exspectat pretiosum fructum terræ, patienter ferens donec accipiat temporaneum et serotinum.
Jame DRC 5:8  Be you therefore also patient and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Jame KJV 5:8  Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
Jame VulgClem 5:8  Patientes igitur estote et vos, et confirmate corda vestra : quoniam adventus Domini appropinquavit.
Jame DRC 5:9  Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.
Jame KJV 5:9  Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
Jame DRC 5:10  Take, my brethren, for example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Jame KJV 5:10  Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
Jame DRC 5:11  Behold, we account them blessed who have endured. You have heard of the patience of Job and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
Jame KJV 5:11  Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Jame DRC 5:12  But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your speech be: Yea, Yea: No, No: that you fall not under judgment.
Jame KJV 5:12  But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
Jame DRC 5:13  Is any of you sad? Let him pray: Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing.
Jame KJV 5:13  Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
Jame VulgClem 5:13  Tristatur aliquis vestrum ? oret. Æquo animo est ? psallat.
Jame DRC 5:14  Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Jame KJV 5:14  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
Jame VulgClem 5:14  Infirmatur quis in vobis ? inducat presbyteros ecclesiæ, et orent super eum, ungentes eum oleo in nomine Domini :
Jame DRC 5:15  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man. And the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Jame KJV 5:15  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Jame DRC 5:16  Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.
Jame KJV 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Jame DRC 5:17  Elias was a man passible like unto us: and with prayer he prayed that it might not rain upon the earth. And it rained not for three years and six months.
Jame KJV 5:17  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
Jame DRC 5:18  And he prayed again. And the heaven gave rain: and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Jame KJV 5:18  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Jame VulgClem 5:18  Et rursum oravit : et cælum dedit pluviam, et terra dedit fructum suum.
Jame DRC 5:19  My brethren, if any of you err from the truth and one convert him:
Jame KJV 5:19  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jame DRC 5:20  He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way shall save his soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.
Jame KJV 5:20  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Jame VulgClem 5:20  scire debet quoniam qui converti fecerit peccatorem ab errore viæ suæ, salvabit animam ejus a morte, et operiet multitudinem peccatorum.
