1:5  Když uplynuly dny hodokvasu, Jób pro ně posílal a posvěcoval Je. Za časného jitra obětoval oběti zápalné za každého z nich; říkal si totiž: „Možná, že moji synové zhřešili a zlořečili v srdci Bohu.“ Tak činil Jób po všechny dny.

1:5  A když vypořádali dny hodů, posílával Job, a posvěcoval jich, a vstávaje ráno, obětoval zápaly podlé počtu všech jich. Nebo říkával Job: Snad zhřešili synové moji, aneb zlořečili Bohu v srdci svém. Tak činíval Job po všecky ty dny.

1:8  Hospodin se satana zeptal: „Zdalipak sis všiml mého služebníka Jóba? Nemá na zemi sobě rovného. Je to muž bezúhonný a přímý, bojí se Boha a vystříhá se zlého.“

1:8  „A všiml sis mého služebníka Joba?“ řekl mu na to Hospodin. „Na zemi mu není rovného – ten muž je bezúhonný a poctivý, bohabojný a prostý všeho zla.“

1:8  Hospodin se pak Satana zeptal: Jestlipak sis všiml mého otroka Jóba? Neboť není na zemi jemu podobného, muže bezúhonného a přímého, bohabojného a odvracejícího se od zlého.

1:10  Vždyť jsi ho ze všech stran ohradil, rovněž jeho dům a všechno, co má. Dílu jeho rukou žehnáš a jeho stáda se na zemi rozmohla.

1:10  „Copak jsi kolem něj, kolem jeho domu a kolem všeho, co má, nepostavil hradbu ze všech stran? Všemu, co dělá, žehnáš a jeho stáda se množí po kraji.

1:10  Cožpak ty jsi neohradil jej, jeho dům a všechno, co má, ze všech stran? Nepožehnal jsi dílo jeho rukou a nerozhojnil se jeho statek na zemi?

1:10  Zdaž jsi ty ho neohradil i domu jeho a všeho, což má, se všech stran? Dílu rukou jeho požehnal jsi, a dobytek jeho rozmnožil se na zemi.

1:16  Ještě nedomluvil, když přišel další a řekl: „Z nebe spadl Boží oheň, zachvátil ovce a čeleď pozřel. Unikl jsem jenom já a oznamuji ti to.“

1:16  Ještě to ani nedořekl, když dorazil další: „Boží blesk udeřil z nebe, zasáhl ovce i mládence a všichni shořeli. Unikl jsem jenom já, abych ti to pověděl!“

1:16  Ještě mluvil, když přišel jiný a řekl: Boží oheň padl z nebes, zapálil ovce i služebníky a strávil je. Unikl jsem pouze já sám, abych ti to oznámil.

1:17  While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell on the camels, and have carried them away, yes, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.

1:19  Vtom se zvedl od pouště silný vítr a opřel se ze všech čtyř stran do domu. Ten se na mladé lidi zřítil a oni zahynuli. Unikl jsem jenom já a oznamuji ti to.“

1:19  když vtom se od pouště přihnal mohutný vichr a udeřil na ten dům ze všech stran, takže se na ně zřítil. Tvé děti jsou mrtvé. Unikl jsem jenom já, abych ti to pověděl!“

1:19  a hle, silný vítr se přihnal přes pustinu a opřel se do čtyř rohů domu; ten se zřítil na ty mladé a zemřeli. Unikl jsem pouze já sám, abych ti to oznámil.
