Chapter 17
Numb DRC 17:1  And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Numb KJV 17:1  And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
Numb VulgClem 17:1  Et locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
Numb DRC 17:2  Speak to the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod by their kindreds, of all the princes of the tribes, twelve rods, and write the name of every man upon his rod.
Numb KJV 17:2  Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
Numb VulgClem 17:2  Loquere ad filios Israël, et accipe ab eis virgas singulas per cognationes suas, a cunctis principibus tribuum, virgas duodecim, et uniuscujusque nomen superscribes virgæ suæ.
Numb DRC 17:3  And the name of Aaron shall be for the tribe of Levi, and one rod shall contain all their families:
Numb KJV 17:3  And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
Numb VulgClem 17:3  Nomen autem Aaron erit in tribu Levi, et una virga cunctas seorsum familias continebit :
Numb DRC 17:4  And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the covenant before the testimony, where I will speak to thee.
Numb KJV 17:4  And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
Numb VulgClem 17:4  ponesque eas in tabernaculo fœderis coram testimonio, ubi loquar ad te.
Numb DRC 17:5  Whomsoever of these I shall choose, his rod shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, wherewith they murmur against you.
Numb KJV 17:5  And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
Numb VulgClem 17:5  Quem ex his elegero, germinabit virga ejus : et cohibebo a me querimonias filiorum Israël, quibus contra vos murmurant.
Numb DRC 17:6  And Moses spoke to the children of Israel: and all the princes gave him rods one for every tribe: and there were twelve rods besides the rod of Aaron.
Numb KJV 17:6  And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
Numb VulgClem 17:6  Locutusque est Moyses ad filios Israël : et dederunt ei omnes principes virgas per singulas tribus : fueruntque virgæ duodecim absque virga Aaron.
Numb DRC 17:7  And when Moses had Laid them up before the Lord in the tabernacle of the testimony:
Numb KJV 17:7  And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.
Numb VulgClem 17:7  Quas cum posuisset Moyses coram Domino in tabernaculo testimonii,
Numb DRC 17:8  He returned on the following day, and found that the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi, was budded: and that the buds swelling it hid bloomed blossoms, which spreading the leaves, were formed into almonds.
Numb KJV 17:8  And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
Numb VulgClem 17:8  sequenti die regressus invenit germinasse virgam Aaron in domo Levi : et turgentibus gemmis eruperant flores, qui, foliis dilatatis, in amygdalas deformati sunt.
Numb DRC 17:9  Moses therefore brought out all the rods from before the Lord to all the children of Israel: and they saw, and every one received their rods.
Numb KJV 17:9  And Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
Numb VulgClem 17:9  Protulit ergo Moyses omnes virgas de conspectu Domini ad cunctos filios Israël : videruntque, et receperunt singuli virgas suas.
Numb DRC 17:10  And the Lord said to Moses: Carry back the rod of Aaron into the tabernacle of the testimony, that it may be kept there for a token of the rebellious children of Israel, and that their complaints may cease from me lest they die.
Numb KJV 17:10  And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
Numb VulgClem 17:10  Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Refer virgam Aaron in tabernaculum testimonii, ut servetur ibi in signum rebellium filiorum Israël, et quiescant querelæ eorum a me, ne moriantur.
Numb DRC 17:11  And Moses did as the Lord had commanded.
Numb KJV 17:11  And Moses did so: as the Lord commanded him, so did he.
Numb VulgClem 17:11  Fecitque Moyses sicut præceperat Dominus.
Numb DRC 17:12  And the children of Israel said to Moses: Behold we are consumed, we all perish.
Numb KJV 17:12  And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
Numb VulgClem 17:12  Dixerunt autem filii Israël ad Moysen : Ecce consumpti sumus, omnes perivimus.
Numb DRC 17:13  Whosoever approacheth to the tabernacle of the Lord, he dieth. Are we all to a man to be utterly destroyed?
Numb KJV 17:13  Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
Numb VulgClem 17:13  Quicumque accedit ad tabernaculum Domini, moritur. Num usque ad internecionem cuncti delendi sumus ?
