6:1  It seemed good to Darius, and he appointed over the kingdom a hundred and twenty governors, to be over his whole kingdom.

6:4  Tento Daniel ovšem nad vezíry i satrapy vynikal, protože v něm byl neobyčejný duch, a král byl nakloněn ustanovit jej nad celým královstvím.

6:4  Tedy hejtmané a úředníci hledali příčiny proti Danielovi s strany království, a však žádné příčiny ani vady nemohli najíti; nebo věrný byl, aniž jaký omyl neb vada nalézala se při něm.

6:5  Tu se říšští vládcové a satrapové snažili nalézt proti Danielovi záminku ohledně jeho správy království, ale žádnou záminku ani zlé jednání nalézt nemohli, neboť byl věrný. Žádnou nedbalost ani zlé jednání na něm neshledali.

6:5  Vezíři a satrapové se proto snažili najít na Danielově vládní službě nějakou chybu. Nemohli ale žádnou chybu ani nedbalost najít, protože byl spolehlivý a žádného pochybení ani nedbalosti se nedopustil.

6:5  Tehdy se vezíři a satrapové snažili proti Danielovi nalézt něco ohledně království, ale nemohli nalézt vůbec nic ani žádnou závadu, neboť byl spolehlivý ⌈a žádná nedbalost ani závada se u něho nenalézala.⌉

6:5  Protož muži ti řekli: Nenajdeme proti Danielovi tomuto žádné příčiny, jediné leč bychom našli něco proti němu s strany zákona Boha jeho.

6:7  Uradili se všickni hejtmané království, vývodové, úředníci, správcové a vůdcové, abys ustanovil nařízení královské, a utvrdil zápověd: Kdož by koli vložil žádost na kteréhokoli boha neb člověka do třidcíti dnů, kromě na tebe, králi, aby uvržen byl do jámy lvové.

6:8  Všichni královští vezíři, hejtmani, satrapové, rádci a místodržící se usnesli, že by se mělo vydat královské nařízení potvrzující tento výnos: Každý, kdo by se v příštích třiceti dnech modlil k jakémukoli bohu nebo člověku kromě tebe, králi, bude hozen do lví jámy.

6:8  Všichni královští vezíři, prefekti a satrapové, rádci a místodržitelé se shodli, aby král vystavil dekret a vyšel zákaz, aby každý, kdo by nějakou prosbou po třicet dnů prosil u jakéhokoliv boha nebo u člověka jiného než u tebe králi, byl uvržen do lvího doupěte.

6:8  Nyní tedy, ó králi, potvrď zápovědi této, a vydej mandát, kterýž by nemohl změněn býti podlé práva Médského a Perského, kteréž jest neproměnitelné.

Odpověděv král, řekl: Pravéť jest slovo to, podlé práva Médského a Perského, kteréž jest neproměnitelné.

6:12  Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask [a petition] of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? 6:13  Hned šli ke králi a dovolávali se královského zákazu: „Zdali jsi nepodepsal zákaz, že každý člověk, který by se v údobí třiceti dnů modlil ke kterémukoli bohu nebo člověku kromě k tobě, králi, bude vhozen do lví jámy?“ Král odpověděl: „To slovo platí podle nezrušitelného zákona Médů a Peršanů.“

6:13  Šli tedy za králem a připomněli mu onen královský edikt: „Nepodepsal jsi snad výnos, že každý, kdo by se v příštích třiceti dnech modlil k jakémukoli bohu nebo člověku kromě tebe, králi, bude hozen do lví jámy?“ „To slovo platí,“ přisvědčil král, „podle nepomíjivého zákona Médů a Peršanů.“

6:13  Předstoupili tedy před krále a hovořili o královském zákazu: Nevydal jsi snad zákaz, aby každý člověk, který bude po třicet dnů prosit u jakéhokoliv boha nebo u člověka jiného než tebe, králi, bude uvržen do lvího doupěte? Král promluvil a řekl: Tak to platí podle nepomíjivého zákona Médů a Peršanů.

6:13  Tedy odpovídajíce, řekli králi: Daniel ten, kterýž jest z zajatých synů Judských, nechtěl dbáti na tvé, ó králi, nařízení, ani na mandát tvůj, kterýž jsi vydal, ale třikrát za den modlívá se modlitbou svou.

6:13  Then they answered and said before the king, That Daniel, who [is] of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

6:14  Now when the king had heard these words, he was very much grieved, and in behalf of Daniel he set his heart to deliver him, and even till sunset he laboured to save him.

6:14  Na to králi řekli: „Daniel z judských přesídlenců, králi, na tebe a zákaz, který si podepsal nedbá. Třikrát za den se modlí svou modlitbu.“

6:14  Na to králi řekli: „Daniel, ten židovský vyhnanec, si z tebe, králi, ani z ediktu, který jsi podepsal, nic nedělá. Třikrát denně se modlí ty své modlitby!“

6:14  Nato před králem promluvili takto: Daniel ze synů judských vysídlenců na tebe, králi, nebere zřetel, ani na zákaz, který jsi vydal, a svou prosbu přednáší třikrát denně!

6:14  Tedy král, jakž uslyšel tu řeč, velmi se zarmoutil nad tím, a uložil král v mysli své vysvoboditi Daniele, a až do západu slunce usiloval ho vytrhnouti.

6:14  Then the king, when he heard [these] words, was much displeased with himself, and set [his] heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he labored till the setting of the sun to deliver him.

6:15  But those men perceiving the king's design, said to him: Know thou, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, that no decree which the king hath made, may be altered.

6:15  Když král slyšel takovou řeč, byl velmi znechucen. Usilovně přemýšlel, jak by Daniela vysvobodil. Namáhal se až do západu slunce, jak by ho vyprostil.

6:15  Když to král uslyšel, velice se zarmoutil. Rozhodně chtěl Daniela zachránit, a usiloval o jeho záchranu až do západu slunce.

6:15  Then these men assembled to the king, and said to the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.
