14:1  In the second year of Joas son of Joachaz, king of Israel, reigned Amasias son of Joas, king of Juda.

14:7  Pobil Edómce v Solném údolí, deset tisíc mužů, a v bitvě se zmocnil Sely a přejmenoval ji na Jokteel, jak je tomu dodnes.

14:7  To on porazil 10 000 Edomců v Solném údolí. V oné bitvě dobyl Selu, přejmenoval ji na Jokteel a tak se jmenuje dodnes.

14:7  Pobil deset tisíc Edómců v Solném údolí a zmocnil se v boji též Sély a pojmenoval ji Jokteel, jak je tomu dodnes.

14:7  On také porazil Idumejských v údolí solnatém deset tisíců, a dobyl Sela bojem. I nazval jméno jeho Jektehel až do tohoto dne.

14:9  And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

14:9  Jóaš, král izraelský, poslal Amasjášovi, králi judskému, odpověď: „Na Libanónu vzkázalo trní libanónskému cedru: ‚Dej svou dceru za ženu mému synovi.‘ I přešlo tudy libanónské polní zvíře a to trní rozšlapalo.

14:9  Izraelský král Jehoaš ale judskému králi Amaciášovi vzkázal: „Jeden bodlák v Libanonu vzkázal cedru v Libanonu: Dej svou dceru mému synu za ženu! Jedno zvíře v Libanonu šlo okolo a ten bodlák pošlapalo.

14:9  Izraelský král Jóaš vzkázal judskému králi Amasjášovi: Libanonské trní vzkázalo libanonskému cedru: Dej svou dceru mému synovi za ženu. Polní zvěř libanonská prošla a pošlapala to trní.

14:9  Zase poslal Joas král Izraelský k Amaziášovi králi Judskému a řekl: Bodlák, kterýž byl na Libánu, poslal k cedru Libánskému, řka: Dej dceru svou synu mému za manželku. V tom šlo tudy zvíře polní, kteréž bylo na Libánu, a pošlapalo ten bodlák.

14:9  And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that [was] in Lebanon sent to the cedar that [was] in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife: and there passed by a wild beast that [was] in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

14:10  Thou hast beaten and prevailed over Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up; be content with this glory, and sit at home; why provokest thou evil, that thou shouldst fall, and Juda with thee?

14:10  Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

14:10  Vítězně jsi pobil Edómce, proto se tvé srdce tak vypíná. Užívej si slávy, ale seď doma! Proč si zahráváš se zlem? Abys padl ty i Juda s tebou?“

14:10  Porazil jsi Edoma, srdce se ti dme. Jen se chlub, ale raději zůstaň doma. Proč si říkáš o neštěstí? Chceš padnout a strhnout s sebou i Judu?“

14:10  ⌈Protože jsi pobil Edómce,⌉ ⌈pozvedlo se tvé srdce.⌉ Oslavuj a zůstaň doma. Proč by ses měl zaplétat se zlem a padnout ty a Juda s tebou?

14:10  Že jsi mocně porazil Idumejské, protož pozdvihlo tě srdce tvé. Chlub se a seď v domě svém. I proč se máš plésti v neštěstí, abys padl ty i Juda s tebou?

14:10  Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory [of this], and tarry at home: for why shouldst thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldst fall, [even] thou, and Judah with thee?

14:10  You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?'"

14:13  Izraelský král Jehoaš zajal judského krále Amaciáše, syna Joašova, syna Achaziášova, u Bet-šemeše, odkud se vypravil na Jeruzalém. Od Efraimské brány až k Nárožní bráně proboural v jeruzalémských hradbách trhlinu na 400 loktů širokou.

14:13  Judského krále Amasjáše, syna Jóaše, syna Achazjášova, chytil izraelský král Jóaš v Bét–šemeši. Pak přitáhl do Jeruzaléma a protrhl jeruzalémské hradby od Efrajimské brány až k bráně Rohové, na čtyři sta loket.
