Chapter 19
Deut DRC 19:1  When the Lord thy God hath destroyed the nations, whose land he will deliver to thee, and thou shalt possess it, and shalt dwell in the cities and houses thereof:
Deut KJV 19:1  When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
Deut VulgClem 19:1  Cum disperdiderit Dominus Deus tuus gentes, quarum tibi traditurus est terram, et possederis eam, habitaverisque in urbibus ejus et in ædibus :
Deut DRC 19:2  Thou shalt separate to thee three cities in the midst of the land, which the Lord will give thee in possession,
Deut KJV 19:2  Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
Deut VulgClem 19:2  tres civitates separabis tibi in medio terræ, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi in possessionem,
Deut DRC 19:3  Paving diligently the way: and thou shalt divide the whole province of thy land equally into three parts: that he who is forced to flee for manslaughter, may have near at hand whither to escape.
Deut KJV 19:3  Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
Deut VulgClem 19:3  sternens diligenter viam : et in tres æqualiter partes totam terræ tuæ provinciam divides : ut habeat e vicino qui propter homicidium profugus est, quo possit evadere.
Deut DRC 19:4  This shall be the law of the slayer that fleeth, whose life is to be saved: He that killeth his neighbor ignorantly, and who is proved to have had no hatred against him yesterday and the day before:
Deut KJV 19:4  And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;
Deut DRC 19:5  But to have gone with him to the wood to hew wood, and in cutting down the tree the axe slipped out of his hand, and the iron slipping from the handle struck his friend, and killed him: he shall flee to one of the cities aforesaid, and live:
Deut KJV 19:5  As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
Deut VulgClem 19:5  sed abiisse cum eo simpliciter in silvam ad ligna cædenda, et in succisione lignorum securis fugerit manu, ferrumque lapsum de manubrio amicum ejus percusserit, et occiderit : hic ad unam supradictarum urbium confugiet, et vivet :
Deut DRC 19:6  Lest perhaps the next kinsman of him whose blood was shed, pushed on by his grief should pursue, and apprehend him, if the way be too long, and take away the life of him who is not guilty of death, because he is proved to have had no hatred before against him that was slain.
Deut KJV 19:6  Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
Deut DRC 19:7  Therefore I command thee, that thou separate three cities at equal distance one from another.
Deut KJV 19:7  Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
Deut DRC 19:8  And when the Lord thy God shall have enlarged thy borders, as he swore to the fathers, and shall give thee all the land that he promised them,
Deut KJV 19:8  And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
Deut DRC 19:9  (Yet so, if thou keep his commandments, and do the things which I command thee this day, that thou love the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways at all times) thou shalt add to thee other three cities, and shalt double the number of the three cities aforesaid:
Deut KJV 19:9  If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
Deut VulgClem 19:9  (si tamen custodieris mandata ejus, et feceris, quæ hodie præcipio tibi, ut diligas Dominum Deum tuum, et ambules in viis ejus omni tempore), addes tibi tres alias civitates, et supradictarum trium urbium numerum duplicabis :
Deut DRC 19:10  That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, lest thou be guilty of blood.
Deut KJV 19:10  That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
Deut VulgClem 19:10  ut non effundatur sanguis innoxius in medio terræ, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi possidendam, ne sis sanguinis reus.
Deut DRC 19:11  But if any man hating his neighbour, lie in wait for his life, and rise and strike him, and he die, and he flee to one of the cities aforesaid,
Deut KJV 19:11  But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:
Deut VulgClem 19:11  Si quis autem, odio habens proximum suum, insidiatus fuerit vitæ ejus, surgensque percusserit illum, et mortuus fuerit, fugeritque ad unam de supradictis urbibus,
Deut DRC 19:12  The ancients of his city shall send, and take him out of the place of refuge, and shall deliver him into the hand of the kinsman of him whose blood was shed, and he shall die.
Deut KJV 19:12  Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
Deut DRC 19:13  Thou shalt not pity him, and thou shalt take away the guilt of innocent blood out of Israel, that it may be well with thee.
Deut KJV 19:13  Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
Deut DRC 19:14  Thou shalt not take nor remove thy neighbour's landmark, which thy predecessors have set in thy possession, which the Lord thy God will give thee in the land that thou shalt receive to possess.
Deut KJV 19:14  Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
Deut VulgClem 19:14  Non assumes, et transferes terminos proximi tui, quos fixerunt priores in possessione tua, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi in terra quam acceperis possidendam.
Deut DRC 19:15  One witness shall not rise up against any man, whatsoever the sin or wickedness be: but in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall stand.
Deut KJV 19:15  One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
Deut VulgClem 19:15  Non stabit testis unus contra aliquem, quidquid illud peccati, et facinoris fuerit : sed in ore duorum aut trium testium stabit omne verbum.
Deut DRC 19:16  If a lying witness stand against a man, accusing him of transgression,
Deut KJV 19:16  If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
Deut VulgClem 19:16  Si steterit testis mendax contra hominem, accusans eum prævaricationis,
Deut DRC 19:17  Both of them, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord in the sight of the priests and the judges that shall be in those days.
Deut KJV 19:17  Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
Deut VulgClem 19:17  stabunt ambo, quorum causa est, ante Dominum in conspectu sacerdotum et judicum qui fuerint in diebus illis.
Deut DRC 19:18  And when after most diligent inquisition, they shall find that the false witness hath told a lie against his brother:
Deut KJV 19:18  And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
Deut VulgClem 19:18  Cumque diligentissime perscrutantes, invenerint falsum testem dixisse contra fratrem suum mendacium,
Deut DRC 19:19  They shall render to him as he meant to do to his brother, and thou shalt take away the evil out of the midst of thee:
Deut KJV 19:19  Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
Deut VulgClem 19:19  reddent ei sicut fratri suo facere cogitavit, et auferes malum de medio tui :
Deut DRC 19:20  That others hearing may fear, and may not dare to do such things.
Deut KJV 19:20  And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
Deut DRC 19:21  Thou shalt not pity him, but shalt require life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
Deut KJV 19:21  And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
