4:1  Then Booz went up to the gate, and sat there. And when he had seen the kinsman going by, of whom he had spoken before, he said to him, calling him by his name: Turn aside for a little while, and sit down here. He turned aside, and sat down.

4:1  Bóaz vystoupil k bráně a posadil se tam. Tu šel kolem zastánce, o němž Bóaz mluvil. Vybídl ho: „Člověče, zastav se a posaď se tu.“ A on se zastavil a posadil se.

4:1  Boáz mezitím šel k městské bráně. Posadil se tam a hle – právě tudy šel onen příbuzný, o kterém předtím mluvil. Boáz mu řekl: „Pojď sem, příteli, posaď se.“ A tak přišel a posadil se.

4:3  They sat down, and he spoke to the kinsman: Noemi, who is returned from the country of Moab will sell a parcel of land that belonged to our brother Elimelech.

4:3  And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:

4:4  I would have thee to understand this, and would tell thee before all that sit here, and before the ancients of my people. If thou wilt take possession of it by the right of kindred: buy it, and possess it: but if it please thee not, tell me so, that I may know what I have to do. For there is no near kinsman besides thee, who art first, and me, who am second. But he answered: I will buy the field.

4:4  And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

4:4  Řekl jsem si, že ti to dám na vědomí a vybídnu tě, abys jej koupil v přítomnosti těch, kteří tu zasedají, před staršími mého lidu. Chceš-li použít svého práva k vykoupení, tedy jej vykup, nechceš-li, oznam mi to. Vím, že kromě tebe není bližšího zastánce. Já jsem po tobě.“ On odpověděl: „Vykoupím jej.“

4:4  Řekl jsem si, že ti to dám vědět a navrhnu ti: Pořiď si ho před těmito přísedícími, před stařešiny mého lidu. Chceš-li to pole vykoupit, vykup je. Pokud je nevykoupíš, vyjádři se, ať to vím. Jsi totiž nejbližší příbuzný a já jsem hned po tobě.“ A on řekl: „Vykoupím je.“

4:4  A tak jsem si řekl, že ⌈ti to dám na vědomí:⌉ Kup jej před těmito přísedícími a před staršími mého lidu. Jestliže vykoupíš, vykup. Ale pokud nevykoupíš, oznam mi to, ⌈ať to vím. Vždyť⌉ není, kdo ho smí vykoupit, kromě tebe a mne po tobě. On odpověděl: Já jej vykoupím.

4:4  A já jsem umínil netajiti toho před tebou, a pravímť: Ujmi pole to před přísedícími těmito a staršími lidu mého. Jestliže chceš koupiti, kup; pakli nekoupíš, oznam mi. Nebo vím, že kromě tebe není žádného, kterýž by měl právo koupiti je, a já jsem po tobě. Tedy on řekl: Já koupím.

4:4  And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy [it] before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem [it], redeem [it]: but if thou wilt not redeem [it], [then] tell me, that I may know: for [there is] none to redeem [it] besides thee; and I [am] after thee. And he said, I will redeem [it].

4:4  I thought to disclose it to you, saying, 'Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.' If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you." He said, "I will redeem it."

4:4  quod audire te volui, et tibi dicere coram cunctis sedentibus, et majoribus natu de populo meo. 4:5  And Booz said to him: When thou shalt buy the field at the woman's hand, thou must take also Ruth, the Moabitess, who was the wife of the deceased: to raise up the name of thy kinsman in his inheritance.

4:5  Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

4:5  Bóaz řekl: „V den, kdy koupíš od Noemi pole, kupuješ je i od moábské Rút, ženy po zemřelém, se závazkem zachovat jméno zemřelého v jeho dědictví.“

4:5  Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy [it] also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

4:5  Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance."

4:5  Then said Boaz, What day you buy the field of the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.

4:5  Cui dixit Booz : Quando emeris agrum de manu mulieris, Ruth quoque Moabitidem, quæ uxor defuncti fuit, debes accipere : ut suscites nomen propinqui tui in hæreditate sua.

4:6  He answered: I yield up my right of next akin: for I must not cut off the posterity of my own family. Do thou make use of my privilege, which I profess I do willingly forego.

4:6  And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

4:6  Tu řekl zastánce: „Nemohu je vykoupit pro sebe, aniž bych zničil vlastní dědictví. Použij pro sebe mého výkupního práva; já vykoupit nemohu.“

4:6  Ten vykupitel odpověděl: Nemohu to pro sebe vykoupit, jinak uvrhnu do zkázy vlastní dědictví. ⌈Nárokuj pro sebe mé výkupní právo⌉ ty, protože já vykoupit nemohu.

4:6  Odpověděl příbuzný ten: Nemohuť koupiti, abych snad nezahladil dědictví svého. Uživ ty práva příbuznosti mé, nebo já ho nemohu užiti.

4:6  And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem [it] for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem [it].

4:6  The near kinsman said, "I can't redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can't redeem it."

4:6  And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance: redeem you my right to yourself; for I cannot redeem it.

4:6  Qui respondit : Cedo juri propinquitatis : neque enim posteritatem familiæ meæ delere debeo : tu meo utere privilegio, quo me libenter carere profiteor.

4:7  Now this in former times was the manner in Israel between kinsmen, that if at any time one yielded his right to another: that the grant might be sure, the man put off his shoe and gave it to his neighbour; this was a testimony of cession of right in Israel.

4:7  Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

4:7  V Izraeli tomu bývalo odedávna při vykupování nebo při výměnném obchodu takto: Každé jednání se stvrzovalo tím, že si jeden vyzul střevíc a dal jej druhému. To byl v Izraeli způsob stvrzování.

4:7  (Za starodávna byl v Izraeli při výkupu a směně tento obyčej: Ke stvrzení každého jednání si člověk zul sandál a podal ho druhému. Tak se v Izraeli dávalo svědectví.)

4:7  Dříve se dělalo v Izraeli při vykupování a při směně toto: Na potvrzení každého jednání zul jeden svůj sandál a dal ho druhému. Toto bývalo osvědčení v Izraeli.

4:7  (Byl pak ten obyčej od starodávna v Izraeli při koupi a směnách, ku potvrzení všelijakého jednání, že szul jeden obuv svou, a dal ji druhému. A to bylo na svědectví té věci v Izraeli.)

4:7  Now this [was the manner] in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for confirming all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave [it] to his neighbor: and this [was] a testimony in Israel.

4:7  Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of attestation in Israel.

4:8  So Booz said to his kinsman: Put off thy shoe. And immediately he took it off from his foot.

4:8  Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

4:9  Bóaz pak řekl starším a všemu lidu: „Dnes jste svědky, že jsem koupil od Noemi všechno, co patřilo Elímelekovi, i vše, co patřilo Kiljónovi a Machlónovi.

4:9  Boáz tehdy před stařešiny a vším lidem prohlásil: „Dnes jste svědkové, že jsem od Noemi získal všechno, co patřilo Elimelechovi, i všechno, co patřilo Kiljonovi a Machlonovi.

4:10  And have taken to wife Ruth, the Moabitess, the wife of Mahalon, to raise up the name of the deceased in his inheritance lest his name be cut off, from among his family and his brethren and his people. You, I say, are witnesses of this thing.

4:11  Then all the people that were in the gate, and the ancients, answered: We are witnesses: The Lord make this woman who cometh into thy house, like Rachel, and Lia, who built up the house of Israel: that she may be an example of virtue in Ephrata, and may have a famous name in Bethlehem:

4:11  And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth–lehem:

4:11  And all the people that [were] in the gate, and the elders said, [We are] witnesses. The LORD make the woman that hath come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:

4:11  Respondit omnis populus, qui erat in porta, et majores natu : Nos testes sumus : faciat Dominus hanc mulierem, quæ ingreditur domum tuam, sicut Rachel et Liam, quæ ædificaverunt domum Israël : ut sit exemplum virtutis in Ephratha, et habeat celebre nomen in Bethlehem :

4:12  And that the house may be, as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore unto Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman.

4:12  And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman.

4:12  Nechť je tvůj dům skrze potomstvo, které ti dá Hospodin z této dívky, jako dům Peresa, jehož Támar porodila Judovi.“

4:13  Booz therefore took Ruth, and married her: and went in unto her, and the Lord gave her to conceive, and to bear a son.

4:13  So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.
