17:1  And Elias the Thesbite, of the inhabitants of Galaad, said to Achab: As the Lord liveth, the God of Israel, in whose sight I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to the words of my mouth.

17:12  Na to mu odpověděla: „Jakože je živ Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, nemám ani kousek. Mouky je ve džbánu jen tak na dlaň a v láhvi jen troška oleje. Nasbírám teď trochu dříví a půjdu to připravit sobě a synovi. Sníme to a umřeme.“

17:12  Řekla: Jakože živ je Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, nemám ani koláček, jenom hrst mouky ve džbánu a trochu oleje ve džbánku. Podívej, sbírám pár kousků dříví, abych to šla udělat pro sebe a svého syna, sníme to a zemřeme.

17:12  And she said, [As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and behold, I [am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

17:18  And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with you, O you man of God? are you come to me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

17:19  And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

17:20  Pak volal k Hospodinu: „Hospodine, můj Bože, cožpak i té vdově, u které jsem hostem, způsobíš zlo a přivodíš jejímu synu smrt?“

17:20  Pak volal k Hospodinu: „Hospodine, Bože můj, to budeš i s tou vdovou, u které bydlím, nakládat tak zle? To jí chceš zabít syna?“

17:21  And he stretched, and measured himself upon the child three times, and cried to the Lord, and said: O Lord, my God, let the soul of this child, I beseech thee, return into his body.

17:21  Třikrát se nad dítětem sklonil a volal k Hospodinu: „Hospodine, můj Bože, ať se prosím vrátí do tohoto dítěte život!“
