Chapter 22
Isai DRC 22:1  The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee also, that thou too art wholly gone up to the housetops?
Isai VulgClem 22:1  Onus vallis Visionis. Quidnam quoque tibi est, quia ascendisti et tu omnis in tecta ?
Isai KJV 22:1  The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?
Isai DRC 22:2  Full of clamour, a populous city, a joyous city: thy slain are not slain by the sword, nor dead in battle.
Isai VulgClem 22:2  Clamoris plena, urbs frequens, civitas exsultans ; interfecti tui, non interfecti gladio, nec mortui in bello.
Isai KJV 22:2  Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, a joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.
Isai DRC 22:3  All the princes are fled together, and are bound hard: all that were found, are bound together, they are fled far off.
Isai KJV 22:3  All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.
Isai DRC 22:4  Therefore have I said: Depart from me, I will weep bitterly: labour not to comfort me, for the devastation of the daughter of my people.
Isai VulgClem 22:4  Propterea dixi : Recedite a me : amare flebo ; nolite incumbere ut consolemini me super vastitate filiæ populi mei ;
Isai KJV 22:4  Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.
Isai DRC 22:5  For it is a day of slaughter and of treading down, and of weeping to the Lord the God of hosts in the valley of vision, searching the wall, and magnificent upon the mountain.
Isai KJV 22:5  For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
Isai DRC 22:6  And Elam took the quiver, the chariot of the horseman, and the shield was taken down from the wall.
Isai VulgClem 22:6  Et Ælam sumpsit pharetram, currum hominis equitis, et parietem nudavit clypeus.
Isai KJV 22:6  And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.
Isai DRC 22:7  And thy choice valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall place themselves in the gate.
Isai VulgClem 22:7  Et erunt electæ valles tuæ plenæ quadrigarum, et equites ponent sedes suas in porta.
Isai KJV 22:7  And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.
Isai DRC 22:8  And the covering of Juda shall be discovered, and thou shalt see in that day the armoury of the house of the forest.
Isai VulgClem 22:8  Et revelabitur operimentum Judæ, et videbis in die illa armamentarium domus saltus.
Isai KJV 22:8  And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.
Isai DRC 22:9  And you shall see the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and you have gathered together the waters of the lower pool,
Isai VulgClem 22:9  Et scissuras civitatis David videbitis, quia multiplicatæ sunt ; et congregastis aquas piscinæ inferioris,
Isai KJV 22:9  Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.
Isai DRC 22:10  And have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and broken down houses to fortify the wall.
Isai KJV 22:10  And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.
Isai DRC 22:11  And you made a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: and you have not looked up to the maker thereof, nor regarded him even at a distance, that wrought it long ago.
Isai KJV 22:11  Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
Isai DRC 22:12  And the Lord, the God of hosts, in that day shall call to weeping, and to mourning, to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:
Isai VulgClem 22:12  Et vocabit Dominus Deus exercituum in die illa ad fletum, et ad planctum, ad calvitium, et ad cingulum sacci ;
Isai KJV 22:12  And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:
Isai DRC 22:13  And behold joy and gladness, killing calves, and slaying rams, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.
Isai KJV 22:13  And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.
Isai DRC 22:14  And the voice of the Lord of hosts was revealed in my ears: Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you till you die, saith the Lord God of hosts.
Isai VulgClem 22:14  Et revelata est in auribus meis vox Domini exercituum : Si dimittetur iniquitas hæc vobis donec moriamini, dicit Dominus Deus exercituum.
Isai KJV 22:14  And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts.
Isai DRC 22:15  Thus saith the Lord God of hosts: Go, get thee in to him that dwelleth in the tabernacle, to Sobna who is over the temple: and thou shalt say to him:
Isai VulgClem 22:15  Hæc dicit Dominus Deus exercituum : Vade, ingredere ad eum qui habitat in tabernaculo, ad Sobnam, præpositum templi, et dices ad eum :
Isai KJV 22:15  Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
Isai DRC 22:16  What dost thou here, or as if thou wert somebody here? for thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, thou hast hewed out a monument carefully in a high place, a dwelling for thyself in a rock.
Isai VulgClem 22:16  Quid tu hic, aut quasi quis hic ? quia excidisti tibi hic sepulchrum, excidisti in excelso memoriale diligenter, in petra tabernaculum tibi.
Isai KJV 22:16  What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?
Isai DRC 22:17  Behold the Lord will cause thee to be carried away, as a cock is carried away, and he will lift thee up as a garment.
Isai VulgClem 22:17  Ecce Dominus asportari te faciet, sicut asportatur gallus gallinaceus ; et quasi amictum, sic sublevabit te.
Isai KJV 22:17  Behold, the Lord will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
Isai DRC 22:18  He will crown thee with a crown of tribulation, he will toss thee like a ball into a large and spacious country: there shalt thou die, and there shall the chariot of thy glory be, the shame of the house of thy Lord.
Isai VulgClem 22:18  Coronas coronabit te tribulatione ; quasi pilam mittet te in terram latam et spatiosam ; ibi morieris, et ibi erit currus gloriæ tuæ, ignominia domus domini tui.
Isai KJV 22:18  He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.
Isai DRC 22:19  And I will drive thee out from thy station, and depose thee from thy ministry.
Isai KJV 22:19  And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.
Isai DRC 22:20  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliacim the son of Helcias,
Isai VulgClem 22:20  Et erit in die illa : vocabo servum meum Eliacim, filium Helciæ,
Isai KJV 22:20  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:
Isai DRC 22:21  And I will clothe him with thy robe, and will strengthen him with thy girdle, and will give thy power into his hand: and he shall be as a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Juda.
Isai VulgClem 22:21  et induam illum tunica tua, et cingulo tuo confortabo eum, et potestatem tuam dabo in manu ejus ; et erit quasi pater habitantibus Jerusalem et domui Juda.
Isai KJV 22:21  And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
Isai DRC 22:22  And I will lay the key of the house of David upon his shoulder: and he shall open, and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open.
Isai KJV 22:22  And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
Isai DRC 22:23  And I will fasten him as a peg in a sure place, and he shall be for a throne of glory to the house of his father.
Isai VulgClem 22:23  Et figam illum paxillum in loco fideli, et erit in solium gloriæ domui patris ejus.
Isai KJV 22:23  And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.
Isai DRC 22:24  And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, divers kinds of vessels, every little vessel, from the vessels of cups even to every instrument of music.
Isai VulgClem 22:24  Et suspendent super eum omnem gloriam domus patris ejus ; vasorum diversa genera, omne vas parvulum, a vasis craterarum usque ad omne vas musicorum.
Isai KJV 22:24  And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
Isai DRC 22:25  In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the peg be removed, that was fastened in the sure place: and it shall be broken and shall fall: and that which hung thereon, shall perish, because the Lord hath spoken it.
Isai KJV 22:25  In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.
