Chapter 59
Psal DRC 59:1  Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the inscription of a title, to David himself, for doctrine,
Psal KJV 59:1  Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.

Psal DRC 59:2  When he set fire to Mesopotamia of Syria and Sobal: and Joab returned and slew of Edom, in the vale of the saltpits, twelve thousand men.
Psal KJV 59:2  Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
Psal VulgClem 59:2  cum succendit Mesopotamiam Syriæ et Sobal, et convertit Joab, et percussit Idumæam in valle Salinarum duodecim millia.
Psal DRC 59:3  O God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us.
Psal KJV 59:3  For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
Psal VulgClem 59:3  Deus, repulisti nos, et destruxisti nos ; iratus es, et misertus es nobis.
Psal DRC 59:4  Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved.
Psal KJV 59:4  They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
Psal VulgClem 59:4  Commovisti terram, et conturbasti eam ; sana contritiones ejus, quia commota est.
Psal DRC 59:5  Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us drink the wine of sorrow.
Psal KJV 59:5  Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.
Psal VulgClem 59:5  Ostendisti populo tuo dura ; potasti nos vino compunctionis.
Psal DRC 59:6  Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: that they may flee from before the bow: That thy beloved may be delivered.
Psal KJV 59:6  They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
Psal VulgClem 59:6  Dedisti metuentibus te significationem, ut fugiant a facie arcus ; ut liberentur dilecti tui.
Psal DRC 59:7  Save me with thy right hand, and hear me.
Psal KJV 59:7  Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
Psal VulgClem 59:7  Salvum fac dextera tua, et exaudi me.
Psal DRC 59:8  God hath spoken in his holy place: I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles.
Psal KJV 59:8  But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
Psal VulgClem 59:8  Deus locutus est in sancto suo : lætabor, et partibor Sichimam ; et convallem tabernaculorum metibor.
Psal DRC 59:9  Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: and Ephraim is the strength of my head. Juda is my king:
Psal KJV 59:9  Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.

Psal DRC 59:10  Moab is the pot of my hope. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: to me the foreigners are made subject.
Psal KJV 59:10  The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
Psal VulgClem 59:10  Moab olla spei meæ. In Idumæam extendam calceamentum meum : mihi alienigenæ subditi sunt.
Psal DRC 59:11  Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Psal KJV 59:11  Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

Psal DRC 59:12  Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies?
Psal KJV 59:12  For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
Psal VulgClem 59:12  nonne tu, Deus, qui repulisti nos ? et non egredieris, Deus, in virtutibus nostris ?
Psal DRC 59:13  Give us help from trouble: for vain is the salvation of man.
Psal KJV 59:13  Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

Psal DRC 59:14  Through God we shall do mightily: and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us.
Psal KJV 59:14  And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
