Godbey - Hebrews - 3

3:1  Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our profession;

3:2  being faithful to him who appointed him, as indeed Moses in all his house.

3:3  For he is esteemed worthy of more honor than Moses, inasmuch as the One having built it, has more honor than the house.

3:4  For every house is built by some one; and the one having built all things is God.

3:5  And Moses was indeed faithful in all his house as a servant, unto the testimony of those things which shall be spoken;

3:6  but Christ was as a son, over his own house; whose house we are, if we hold fast the boldness and rejoicing of hope firm unto the end.

3:7  Therefore as the Holy Spirit says, This day if you hear his voice,

3:8  harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness,

3:9  whom our fathers tempted in proving me, and saw my works forty years.

3:10  Therefore I was provoked with this generation, and I said, They do always err in their heart: and they have not known my way,

3:11  as I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.

3:12  See, brethren, lest at some time there shall be in some one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in turning away from the living God:

3:13  but exhort one another each day, while it is called to-day; in order that no one of you may be hardened with the deceitfulness of sin:

3:14  for we have been made partakers of Christ, if indeed we may hold fast the beginning of confidence firm unto the end.

3:15  In that it is said, This day if you hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation:

3:16  for who were those, having heard, who were hardened? yea, were they not all those having come out of Egypt under Moses?

3:17  And with whom was he provoked forty years? was it not with those that sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

3:18  And to whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who believed not?

3:19  And we see that they were not able to enter in on account of their unbelief.
