Chapter 1
I Pe DRC 1:1  Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers dispersed through Pontus, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, elect,
I Pe VulgClem 1:1  Petrus Apostolus Jesu Christi, electis advenis dispersionis Ponti, Galatiæ, Cappadociæ, Asiæ, et Bithyniæ,
I Pe KJV 1:1  Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
I Pe DRC 1:2  According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, unto the sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. Grace unto you and peace be multiplied.
I Pe VulgClem 1:2  secundum præscientiam Dei Patris, in sanctificationem Spiritus, in obedientiam, et aspersionem sanguinis Jesu Christi. Gratia vobis, et pax multiplicetur.
I Pe KJV 1:2  Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
I Pe DRC 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy hath regenerated us unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead:
I Pe VulgClem 1:3  Benedictus Deus et Pater Domini nostri Jesu Christi, qui secundum misericordiam suam magnam regeneravit nos in spem vivam, per resurrectionem Jesu Christi ex mortuis,
I Pe KJV 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
I Pe DRC 1:4  Unto an inheritance, incorruptible, and undefiled and that cannot fade, reserved in heaven for you,
I Pe VulgClem 1:4  in hæreditatem incorruptibilem, et incontaminatam, et immarcescibilem, conservatam in cælis in vobis,
I Pe KJV 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
I Pe DRC 1:5  Who, by the power of God, are kept by faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.
I Pe VulgClem 1:5  qui in virtute Dei custodimini per fidem in salutem, paratam revelari in tempore novissimo.
I Pe KJV 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
I Pe DRC 1:6  Wherein you shalt greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations:
I Pe VulgClem 1:6  In quo exsultabis, modicum nunc si oportet contristari in variis tentationibus :
I Pe KJV 1:6  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
I Pe DRC 1:7  That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
I Pe KJV 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
I Pe DRC 1:8  Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now though you see him not, you believe and, believing, shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;
I Pe KJV 1:8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
I Pe DRC 1:9  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
I Pe VulgClem 1:9  reportantes finem fidei vestræ, salutem animarum.
I Pe KJV 1:9  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
I Pe DRC 1:10  Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and diligently searched, who prophesied of the grace to come in you.
I Pe KJV 1:10  Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
I Pe DRC 1:11  Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did signify, when it foretold those sufferings that are in Christ and the glories that should follow.
I Pe KJV 1:11  Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
I Pe DRC 1:12  To whom it was revealed that, not to themselves but to you, they ministered those things which are now declared to you by them that have preached the gospel to you: the Holy Ghost being sent down from heaven, on whom the angels desire to look.
I Pe KJV 1:12  Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
I Pe DRC 1:13  Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ.
I Pe VulgClem 1:13  Propter quod succincti lumbos mentis vestræ, sobrii, perfecte sperate in eam, quæ offertur vobis, gratiam, in revelationem Jesu Christi :
I Pe KJV 1:13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
I Pe DRC 1:14  As children of obedience, not fashioned according to the former desires of your ignorance,
I Pe VulgClem 1:14  quasi filii obedientiæ, non configurati prioribus ignorantiæ vestræ desideriis :
I Pe KJV 1:14  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
I Pe DRC 1:15  But according to him that hath called you, who is holy, be you also in all manner of conversation holy:
I Pe VulgClem 1:15  sed secundum eum qui vocavit vos, Sanctum : et ipsi in omni conversatione sancti sitis :
I Pe KJV 1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
I Pe DRC 1:16  Because it is written: You shall be holy, for I am holy.
I Pe VulgClem 1:16  quoniam scriptum est : Sancti eritis, quoniam ego sanctus sum.
I Pe KJV 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I Pe DRC 1:17  And if you invoke as Father him who, without respect of persons, judgeth according to every one's work: converse in fear during the time of your sojourning here.
I Pe VulgClem 1:17  Et si patrem invocatis eum, qui sine acceptione personarum judicat secundum uniuscujusque opus, in timore incolatus vestri tempore conversamini.
I Pe KJV 1:17  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
I Pe DRC 1:18  Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers:
I Pe VulgClem 1:18  Scientes quod non corruptibilibus, auro vel argento, redempti estis de vana vestra conversatione paternæ traditionis :
I Pe KJV 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
I Pe DRC 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unspotted and undefiled
I Pe VulgClem 1:19  sed pretioso sanguine quasi agni immaculati Christi, et incontaminati :
I Pe KJV 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
I Pe DRC 1:20  Foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in the last times for you:
I Pe VulgClem 1:20  præcogniti quidem ante mundi constitutionem, manifestati autem novissimis temporibus propter vos,
I Pe KJV 1:20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
I Pe DRC 1:21  Who through him are faithful in God who raised him up from the dead and hath given him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
I Pe VulgClem 1:21  qui per ipsum fideles estis in Deo, qui suscitavit eum a mortuis, et dedit ei gloriam, ut fides vestra et spes esset in Deo :
I Pe KJV 1:21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
I Pe DRC 1:22  Purifying your souls in the obedience of charity, with a brotherly love, from a sincere heart love one another earnestly:
I Pe VulgClem 1:22  animas vestras castificantes in obedientia caritatis, in fraternitatis amore, simplici ex corde invicem diligite attentius :
I Pe KJV 1:22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
I Pe DRC 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God who liveth and remaineth for ever.
I Pe KJV 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
I Pe DRC 1:24  For all flesh is as grass and all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass is withered and the flower thereof is fallen away.
I Pe VulgClem 1:24  quia omnis caro ut fœnum : et omnis gloria ejus tamquam flos fœni : exaruit fœnum, et flos ejus decidit.
I Pe KJV 1:24  For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
I Pe DRC 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel hath been preached unto you.
I Pe KJV 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
