17:1  And Achitophel said to Absalom: I will choose me twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night.

17:1  Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

17:2  Dostihnu ho, až bude zemdlený a skleslý, a překvapím ho. Všechen lid, který je s ním, uteče a já osamoceného krále zabiji.

17:3  And I will bring back all the people, as if they were but one man: for thou seekest but one man: and all the people shall be in peace.

17:3  Všechen lid obrátím k tobě; vrátí se všichni, až na muže, kterého hledáš. Všechen lid bude mít pokoj.“

17:3  Tak přivedu všechen lid k tobě, jako se přivádí nevěsta k ženichovi. Jde ti přece o život jediného muže – všechen lid může zůstat v pokoji.“

17:3  A všechen lid přivedu zpět k tobě. ⌈Ten, kterého usiluješ zabít, je jako návrat všech mužů.⌉ Všechen lid bude mít pokoj.

17:6  And when Chusai was come to Absalom, Absalom said to him: Achitophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do it or not? what counsel dost thou give?

17:6  And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

17:7  And Chusai said to Absalom: The counsel that Achitophel hath given this time is not good.

17:7  And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

17:8  And again Chusai said: Thou knowest thy father, and the men that are with him, that they are very valiant, and bitter in their mind, as a bear raging in the wood when her whelps are taken away: and thy father is a warrior, and will not lodge with the people.

17:8  For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

17:8  A Chúšaj pokračoval: „Ty znáš svého otce i jeho muže, že to jsou bohatýři a že jsou rozhořčeni jak osiřelá medvědice v poli. Tvůj otec je bojovník, ten nebude nocovat s lidem.

17:8  Znáš přece svého otce i jeho muže, jak jsou udatní,“ pokračoval Chušaj. „Jsou rozzuření jako medvědice, která v divočině přišla o mladé. A tvůj otec je zkušený válečník; ten nebude nocovat s vojskem.

17:8  Chúšaj dále řekl: Ty znáš svého otce i jeho muže, že jsou to hrdinové. ⌈Jsou rozhořčení⌉ jako medvědice na poli připravená o mláďata. Tvůj otec je bojovník, nebude nocovat s lidem.

17:8  Dále mluvil Chusai: Ty víš o otci svém i mužích jeho, že jsou udatní, k tomu zjitření na mysli, jako nedvědice osiřelá v poli. Nadto otec tvůj jest muž válečný, kterýž nebude nocovati s lidem.

17:8  For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they [are] mighty men, and they [are] chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father [is] a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

17:8  Hushai said moreover, "You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

17:8  For, said Hushai, you know your father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

17:8  Et rursum intulit Chusai : Tu nosti patrem tuum, et viros qui cum eo sunt, esse fortissimos et amaro animo, veluti si ursa raptis catulis in saltu sæviat : sed et pater tuus vir bellator est, nec morabitur cum populo.

17:9  Perhaps he now lieth hid in pits, or in some other place where he liest: and when any one shall fall at the first, every one that heareth it shall say: There is a slaughter among the people that followed Absalom.

17:9  Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

17:9  Jistě je už ukryt v nějaké strži nebo na jiném místě. Když někteří z tvých hned na začátku padnou, někdo to uslyší a roznese se: ‚Lid, který jde za Abšalómem, byl poražen!‘

17:9  Určitě se už schoval v nějaké jeskyni nebo někde jinde. Kdyby hned napoprvé někteří z našich padli, kdekdo se to doslechne a řekne: ‚Abšalomovo vojsko je poraženo!‘

17:9  Hle, skrývá se teď ⌈v nějaké roklině⌉ či ⌈na nějakém jiném místě.⌉ ⌈Kdyby se stalo, že by někdo z nich padl na počátku,⌉ ⌈ten, kdo to uslyší, si řekne:⌉ ⌈Lid, který jde za Abšalómem, utrpěl porážku.⌉

17:9  Nýbrž nyní spíše v záloze stojí v nějaké jeskyni, aneb v některém jiném místě. I stalo by se, jestliže by kteří padli z těch tvých při začátku, že každý, kdož by o tom uslyšel, řekl by: Stala se porážka v lidu, kterýž postoupil po Absolonovi.

17:9  Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some [other] place: and it will come to pass, when some of them [are] overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

17:9  Behold, he is now hidden in some pit, or in some other place. It will happen, when some of them have fallen at the first, that whoever hears it will say, 'There is a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom!'

17:9  Forsitan nunc latitat in foveis, aut in uno, quo voluerit, loco : et cum ceciderit unus quilibet in principio, audiet quicumque audierit, et dicet : Facta est plaga in populo qui sequebatur Absalom.

17:10  And the most valiant man whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall melt for fear: for all the people of Israel know thy father to be a valiant man, and that all who are with him are valiant.

17:10  And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

17:10  Nakonec ztratí odvahu i ten nejstatečnější muž lvího srdce. Celý Izrael přece ví, že tvůj otec je bohatýr a že ti, kteří jsou s ním, jsou muži stateční.

17:10  Každý bojovník, i kdyby měl srdce jako lev, pak ztratí odvahu. Celý Izrael přece ví, jaký je tvůj otec hrdina a jak jsou jeho muži udatní.

17:10  Pak i takový bojovník, který ⌈je odvážný jako lev,⌉ jistě ochabne. Vždyť celý Izrael ví, že tvůj otec je hrdina a ⌈jsou s ním bojovníci.⌉

17:10  A tak by i silných reků srdce, kteréž jest jako srdce lva, škodlivě osláblo; nebo ví všecken Izrael, že jest zmužilý otec tvůj, a silní ti, kteříž jsou s ním.

17:10  And he also [that is] valiant, whose heart [is] as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father [is] a mighty man, and [they] who [are] with him [are] valiant men.

17:10  Even he who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt; for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men.

17:11  But this seemeth to me to be good counsel: Let all Israel be gathered to thee, from Dan to Bersabee, as the sand of the sea which cannot be numbered: and thou shalt be in the midst of them.

17:11  Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beer–sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

17:12  Přitrhneme na jedno z těch míst, kde se on zdržuje, a padneme na něho jako rosa na roli. Nezbude z něho a ze všech mužů, kteří jsou s ním, ani jeden.

17:12  So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that [are] with him there shall not be left so much as one.

17:13  And if he shall enter into any city, all Israel shall cast ropes round about that city, and we will draw it into the river, so that there shall not be found so much as one small stone thereof.

17:13  Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

17:13  Stáhne-li se do města, snesou všichni Izraelci k tomu městu provazy. Budeme vláčet jeho znamení až do úvalu, že se z něho nenajde ani oblázek.“

17:13  Jestli se stáhne někam do města, celý Izrael k tomu městu nanosí provazy a strhneme je do údolí, takže z něj nezůstane ani kamínek!“

17:13  Když se stáhne do města, všichni Izraelci přinesou k tomu městu provazy a odvlečou ho do údolí, ⌈až tam nebude⌉ ani kamínek.

17:13  Jestliže by se pak shrnul do města, snesou všecken lid Izraelský k tomu městu provazy, a vtrhneme je až do potoka, tak aby tam ani kaménka nebylo lze najíti.

17:13  Moreover, if he shall have entered into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there is not one small stone found there.

17:14  And Absalom, and all the men of Israel said: The counsel of Chusai the Arachite is better than the counsel of Achitophel: and by the will of the Lord the profitable counsel of Achitophel was defeated, that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom.

17:14  And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the Lord had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom.

17:14  Abšalóm a všichni izraelští muži prohlásili: „Rada Chúšaje Arkijského je lepší než rada Achítofelova.“ To Hospodin přikázal překazit dobrou radu Achítofelovu, aby na Abšalóma uvedl zkázu.

17:14  Nato Abšalom se všemi izraelskými muži prohlásil: „Rada Chušaje Arkijského je lepší než rada Achitofelova.“ (Hospodin se totiž rozhodl zmařit Achitofelovu dobrou radu, aby na Abšaloma přivedl neštěstí.)

17:14  Abšalóm a všichni izraelští muži řekli: Rada Chúšaje Arkijského je lepší nežli rada Achítofelova. Tak Hospodin přikázal zmařit dobrou Achítofelovu radu, aby Hospodin přivedl na Abšalóma zlo.

17:14  I řekl Absolon a všickni muži Izraelští: Lepšíť jest rada Chusai Architského, než rada Achitofelova. Hospodin zajisté to způsobil, aby zrušena byla rada Achitofelova, kteráž sic dobrá byla, aby tak uvedl Hospodin na Absolona zlé věci.

17:14  And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite [is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

17:14  Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel." For the Lord had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring evil on Absalom.

17:14  And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Absalom.

17:15  And Chusai said to Sadoc and Abiathar the priests: Thus and thus did Achitophel counsel Absalom, and the ancients of Israel: and thus and thus did I counsel them.

17:15  Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.

17:15  Oznámil pak to Chusai Sádochovi a Abiatarovi kněžím: Tak a tak radil Achitofel Absolonovi a starším Izraelským, ale já takto a takto jsem radil.

17:15  Then said Hushai to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counseled.

17:15  Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, "Ahithophel counseled Absalom and the elders of Israel that way; and I have counseled this way.

17:15  Then said Hushai to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counceled.
