JOHN
Chapter 21
John | AFV2020 | 21:1 | After these things, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. And this is how He revealed Himself:
John | AFV2020 | 21:2 | Simon Peter, and Thomas (called Didymus), and Nathanael from Cana of Galilee were there together, and the sons of Zebedee and two of His other disciples.
John | AFV2020 | 21:3 | Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We also will come with you." They left immediately and got into the ship, but during that night they took nothing.
John | AFV2020 | 21:4 | And when morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore. However, none of the disciples realized that it was Jesus.
John | AFV2020 | 21:5 | Then Jesus said to them, "Children, do you have any food?" They answered Him, "No."
John | AFV2020 | 21:6 | And He said to them, "Cast the net to the right side of the ship, and you shall find some." Then they cast the net, but they did not have the strength to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
John | AFV2020 | 21:7 | Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." And after hearing that it was the Lord, Peter put on his outer garment, because he was naked, and threw himself into the sea.
John | AFV2020 | 21:8 | But the other disciples came in a small ship, dragging the net full of fish; for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits away.
John | AFV2020 | 21:9 | Now then, when they came up to the land, they saw a fire of coals spread, and fish lying on it, and bread.
John | AFV2020 | 21:11 | Simon Peter went up to the shore and drew the net to the land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
John | AFV2020 | 21:12 | Jesus said to them, "Come and dine." But none of the disciples dared to ask Him, "Who are You?" For they knew that it was the Lord.
John | AFV2020 | 21:14 | This was now the third time that Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples after being raised from the dead.
John | AFV2020 | 21:15 | Therefore, when they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me more than these?" And he said to Him, "Yes, Lord. You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."
John | AFV2020 | 21:16 | He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Yes, Lord. You know that I love You." He said to him, "Shepherd My sheep."
John | AFV2020 | 21:17 | He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things. You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
John | AFV2020 | 21:18 | Truly, truly I say to you, since you were young, you have dressed yourself and walked wherever you have desired; but when you are old, you shall stretch out your hands, and another shall dress you and bring you where you do not desire to go."
John | AFV2020 | 21:19 | Now He said this to signify by what death he would glorify God. And after saying this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
John | AFV2020 | 21:20 | But when Peter turned, he saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had sat at the supper and leaned on His chest, and had said, "Lord, who is it that is betraying You?"
John | AFV2020 | 21:22 | Jesus said to him, "If I desire that he remain alive until I come, what is it to you? You follow Me."
John | AFV2020 | 21:23 | Then this saying went out among the brethren, that that disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say to him that he would not die; but, "If I desire that he remain alive until I come, what is it to you?"
John | AFV2020 | 21:24 | This is the disciple who testifies concerning these things and who wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
