5:5  Vtom se přímo před svícnem objevily prsty lidské ruky a začaly psát na omítku královského paláce. Když král spatřil tu píšící ruku,

5:5  V té chvíli se objevily prsty lidské ruky a psaly před svícnem na omítce stěny královského paláce. Král jen hleděl na hřbet jakési ruky, jak píše.

5:5  V touž hodinu vyšli prstové ruky lidské, a psali naproti svícnu na stěně paláce královského, a král hleděl na částky ruky, kteráž psala.

5:6  Tu se barva králova obličeje změnila a myšlenky ho naplnily hrůzou, poklesl v kyčlích a kolena mu tloukla o sebe.

5:6  zbledl hrůzou. Kolena se mu roztřásla, že se sotva držel na nohou.

5:6  A tu se králi úplně změnil výraz, z hloubi duše byl zděšen, sotva se držel na nohou a kolena mu klepala o sebe.

5:6  Tedy jasnost královská změnila se, a myšlení jeho zkormoutila ho, a pasové bedr jeho rozpásali se, i kolena jeho jedno o druhé se tlouklo.

5:7  Král mocně zvolal, aby přivedli zaklínače, hvězdopravce a planetáře. Babylónským mudrcům král řekl: „Kdokoli přečte toto písmo a sdělí mi výklad, bude oblečen do purpuru, na krk mu bude dán zlatý řetěz a bude mít v království moc jako třetí po mně.“

5:7  Vykřikl, ať přivedou kouzelníky, mágy a jasnovidce. Potom těm babylonským mudrcům řekl: „Kdokoli ten nápis přečte a vyloží mi ho, bude oblečen purpurem, na krk dostane zlatý řetěz a stane se třetím nejmocnějším v království!“

5:7  Potom se král hlasitě rozkřičel, aby přivedli věštce a chaldejce a drobopravce. Král k babylonským mudrcům promluvil a řekl jim: Každý, kdo přečte tento nápis a přednese mi jeho výklad, šarlat oblékne a zlatý řetěz okolo krku obdrží a bude vládnout jako třetí v království.

5:7  A zkřikl král ze vší síly, aby přivedeni byli hvězdáři, Kaldejští a hadači. I mluvil král a řekl mudrcům Babylonským: Kdokoli přečte psání toto, a výklad jeho mi oznámí, šarlatem odín bude, a řetěz zlatý na hrdlo jeho, a třetím v království po mně bude.

5:10  Po slovech krále a hodnostářů vešla do domu, kde hodovali, královna a řekla: „Králi, navěky buď živ! Nechť tě tvé myšlenky neplní hrůzou a barva tvého obličeje ať se nemění.

5:11  Je v tvém království muž, v němž je duch svatých bohů. Za dnů tvého otce bylo shledáno, že je osvícený a zběhlý v moudrosti, která je jako moudrost bohů. Král Nebúkadnesar, tvůj otec, ho ustanovil nejvyšším z věštců, zaklínačů, hvězdopravců a planetářů, ano, tvůj otec, králi,

5:11  Máš ve svém království muže, v němž přebývá duch svatých bohů. Ten za dnů tvého otce prokázal jasnozřivost, důvtip a moudrost, jakou mívají bohové. Král Nabukadnezar, tvůj otec, jej proto ustanovil nejvyšším z věštců, kouzelníků, mágů a jasnovidců.

5:11  Ve tvém království je muž, ve kterém dlí duch svatých bohů a v němž se za dnů tvého otce nalezlo osvícení a jasnozřivost ⌈i moudrost, jakou mívají bohové.⌉ A král Nebúkadnesar, tvůj otec, jej ustanovil představeným kouzelníků, věštců, chaldejců, drobopravců… ⌈Tvůj otec, králi,⌉

5:12  Because a greater spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, and interpretation of dreams, and shewing of secrets, and resolving of difficult things, were found in him, that is, in Daniel: whom the king named Baltassar. Now, therefore, let Daniel be called for, and he will tell the interpretation.

5:12  Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

5:12  neboť bylo shledáno, že Daniel, jemuž král dal jméno Beltšasar, má mimořádného ducha a poznání a že je zběhlý ve vykládání snů, řešení záhad a vysvětlování věcí nesnadných. Nechť je Daniel nyní zavolán a sdělí výklad.“

5:12  Daniel, jemuž král dal jméno Baltazar, totiž prokázal vzácného ducha, rozumnost a důvtip ve vykládání snů, odhalování tajemství a řešení záhad. Nech proto zavolat Daniela – on ti ten nápis vyloží.“

5:12  jelikož neobyčejný duch a poznání i jasnozřivost vykládající sny a záhadné výroky a rozplétající obtíže se nalezla v Danielovi, jemuž dal král jméno Beltšasar. Nyní tedy budiž zavolán Daniel a on přednese výklad.

5:12  Proto že duch znamenitý, i umění a rozumnost vykládání snů a oznámení pohádek, i rozvázání věcí nesnadných nalezeno při Danielovi, jemuž král jméno dal Baltazar. Nechať nyní zavolán jest Daniel, a oznámíť výklad ten.
