Chapter 24
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:1 | "When a man has taken a wife and married her, and it comes to pass that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, then let him write her a bill of divorce and put it in her hand, and send her out of his house. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:3 | And the latter husband hates her and writes her a bill of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband dies, the one who took her to be his wife, | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:4 | Her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife after she is defiled, for that is an abomination before the LORD. And you shall not cause the land to sin which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:5 | When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any duty. He shall be free at home one year and shall cheer up his wife whom he has taken. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:6 | No man shall seize the lower or the upper millstone for payment of a pledge, for he takes a man's life to pledge. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:7 | If a man is found stealing a person of his brethren, the children of Israel, and makes a slave of him, or sells him, then that thief shall die. And you shall put evil away from among you. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:8 | Be careful regarding the plague of leprosy that you observe diligently and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you. As I commanded them, you shall observe to do. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:9 | Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam by the wayside after you had come forth out of Egypt. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:10 | When you loan a loan of any kind to your brother, you shall not go into his house to bring forth his pledge. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:11 | You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you made the loan shall bring the pledge outside to you | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:13 | You shall certainly give back to him the pledge at sundown that he may sleep in his own clothing and bless you. And it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:14 | You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, of your brethren or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:15 | On his payday you shall give him his hire; neither shall the sun go down on it, for he is poor and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it shall be sin to you. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:16 | The fathers shall not be put to death for the children; neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers. Every man shall be put to death for his own sin. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:17 | You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing as a pledge. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:18 | But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you from there. Therefore I command you to do this thing. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:19 | When you cut down your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to bring it. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:20 | When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. | |
Deut | AFV2020 | 24:21 | When you gather the grapes from your vineyard, you shall not glean afterward. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. | |
