Chapter 8
II C DRC 8:1  Now we make known unto you, brethren, the grace of God that hath been given in the churches of Macedonia.
II C KJV 8:1  Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
II C VulgClem 8:1  Notam autem facimus vobis, fratres, gratiam Dei, quæ data est in ecclesiis Macedoniæ :
II C DRC 8:2  That in much experience of tribulation, they have had abundance of joy and their very deep poverty hath abounded unto the riches of their simplicity.
II C KJV 8:2  How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
II C VulgClem 8:2  quod in multo experimento tribulationis abundantia gaudii ipsorum fuit, et altissima paupertas eorum, abundavit in divitias simplicitatis eorum :
II C DRC 8:3  For according to their power (I bear them witness) and beyond their power, they were willing:
II C KJV 8:3  For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
II C VulgClem 8:3  quia secundum virtutem testimonium illis reddo, et supra virtutem voluntarii fuerunt,
II C DRC 8:4  With much entreaty begging of us the grace and communication of the ministry that is done toward the saints.
II C KJV 8:4  Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
II C DRC 8:5  And not as we hoped: but they gave their own selves, first to the Lord, then to us by the will of God;
II C KJV 8:5  And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
II C DRC 8:6  Insomuch, that we desired Titus, that, as he had begun, so also he would finish among you this same grace.
II C KJV 8:6  Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
II C DRC 8:7  That as in all things you abound in faith and word and knowledge and all carefulness, moreover also in your charity towards us: so in this grace also you may abound.
II C KJV 8:7  Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
II C DRC 8:8  I speak not as commanding: but by the carefulness of others, approving also the good disposition of your charity.
II C KJV 8:8  I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
II C DRC 8:9  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that being rich he became poor for your sakes: that through his poverty you might be rich.
II C KJV 8:9  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
II C DRC 8:10  And herein I give my advice: for this is profitable for you who have begun not only to do but also to be willing, a year ago.
II C KJV 8:10  And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
II C DRC 8:11  Now therefore perform ye it also in deed: that as your mind is forward to be willing, so it may be also to perform, out of that which you have.
II C KJV 8:11  Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
II C DRC 8:12  For if the will be forward, it is accepted according to that which a man hath: not according to that which he hath not.
II C KJV 8:12  For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
II C DRC 8:13  For I mean not that others should be eased and you burdened, but by an equality.
II C KJV 8:13  For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
II C DRC 8:14  In this present time let your abundance supply their want, that their abundance also may supply your want: that there may be an equality,
II C KJV 8:14  But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
II C DRC 8:15  As it is written: He that had much had nothing over; and he that had little had no want.
II C KJV 8:15  As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
II C DRC 8:16  And thanks be to God, who hath given the same carefulness for you in the heart of Titus.
II C KJV 8:16  But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
II C DRC 8:17  For indeed he accepted the exhortation: but, being more careful, of his own will he went unto you.
II C KJV 8:17  For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.
II C DRC 8:18  We have sent also with him the brother whose praise is in the gospel through all the churches.
II C KJV 8:18  And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;
II C DRC 8:19  And not that only: but he was also ordained by the churches companion of our travels, for this grace, which is administered by us, to the glory of the Lord and our determined will:
II C KJV 8:19  And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
II C DRC 8:20  Avoiding this, lest any man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us.
II C KJV 8:20  Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:
II C VulgClem 8:20  devitantes hoc, ne quis nos vituperet in hac plenitudine, quæ ministratur a nobis.
II C DRC 8:21  For we forecast what may be good, not only before God but also before men.
II C KJV 8:21  Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
II C DRC 8:22  And we have sent with them our brother also, whom we have often proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent: with much confidence in you,
II C KJV 8:22  And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.
II C DRC 8:23  Either for Titus, who is my companion and fellow labourer towards you, or our brethren, the apostles of the churches, the glory of Christ.
II C KJV 8:23  Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.
II C DRC 8:24  Wherefore shew ye to them, in the sight of the churches, the evidence of your charity and of our boasting on your behalf.
II C KJV 8:24  Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
