Chapter 48
Isai DRC 48:1  Hear ye these things, O house of Jacob, you that are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Juda, you who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in justice.
Isai KJV 48:1  Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.
Isai DRC 48:2  For they are called of the holy city, and are established upon the God of Israel: the Lord of hosts is his name.
Isai KJV 48:2  For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is his name.
Isai DRC 48:3  The former things of old, I have declared, and they went forth out of my mouth, and I have made them to be heard: I did them suddenly and they came to pass.
Isai KJV 48:3  I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
Isai DRC 48:4  For I knew that thou art stubborn, and thy neck is as an iron sinew, and thy forehead as brass.
Isai KJV 48:4  Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;
Isai DRC 48:5  I foretold thee of old, before they came to pass I told thee, lest thou shouldst say: My idols have done these things, and my graven and molten things have commanded them.
Isai VulgClem 48:5  Prædixi tibi ex tunc ; antequam venirent, indicavi tibi, ne forte diceres : Idola mea fecerunt hæc, et sculptilia mea et conflatilia mandaverunt ista.
Isai KJV 48:5  I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Isai DRC 48:6  See now all the things which thou hast heard: but have you declared them? I have shewn thee new things from that time, and things are kept which thou knowest not:
Isai VulgClem 48:6  Quæ audisti, vide omnia ; vos autem, num annuntiastis ? Audita feci tibi nova ex tunc, et conservata sunt quæ nescis.
Isai KJV 48:6  Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.
Isai DRC 48:7  They are created now, and not of old: and before the day, when thou heardest them not, lest thou shouldst say: Behold I knew them.
Isai KJV 48:7  They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
Isai DRC 48:8  Thou hast neither heard, nor known, neither was thy ear opened of old. For I know that transgressing thou wilt transgress, and I have called thee a transgressor from the womb.
Isai KJV 48:8  Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.
Isai DRC 48:9  For my name's sake I will remove my wrath far off: and for my praise I will bridle thee, lest thou shouldst perish.
Isai VulgClem 48:9  Propter nomen meum longe faciam furorem meum, et laude mea infrenabo te, ne intereas.
Isai KJV 48:9  For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
Isai DRC 48:10  Behold I have refined thee, but not as silver, I have chosen thee in the furnace of poverty.
Isai VulgClem 48:10  Ecce excoxi te, sed non quasi argentum ; elegi te in camino paupertatis.
Isai KJV 48:10  Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
Isai DRC 48:11  For my own sake, for my own sake will I do it, that I may not be blasphemed: and I will not give my glory to another.
Isai VulgClem 48:11  Propter me, propter me faciam, ut non blasphemer ; et gloriam meam alteri non dabo.
Isai KJV 48:11  For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
Isai DRC 48:12  Hearken to me, O Jacob, and thou Israel whom I call: I am he, I am the first, and I am the last.
Isai VulgClem 48:12  Audi me, Jacob, et Israël, quem ego voco : ego ipse, ego primus, et ego novissimus.
Isai KJV 48:12  Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
Isai DRC 48:13  My hand also hath founded the earth, and my right hand hath measured the heavens: I shall call them, and they shall stand together.
Isai KJV 48:13  Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
Isai DRC 48:14  Assemble yourselves together, all you, and hear: who among them hath declared these things? the Lord hath loved him, he will do his pleasure in Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
Dominus dilexit eum, faciet voluntatem suam in Babylone, et brachium suum in Chaldæis.
Isai KJV 48:14  All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
Isai DRC 48:15  I, even I have spoken and called him: I have brought him, and his way is made prosperous.
Isai KJV 48:15  I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
Isai DRC 48:16  Come ye near unto me, and hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time before it was done, I was there, and now the Lord God hath sent me, and his spirit.
Isai VulgClem 48:16  Accedite ad me et audite hoc : non a principio in abscondito locutus sum : ex tempore antequam fieret, ibi eram : et nunc Dominus Deus misit me, et spiritus ejus.
Isai KJV 48:16  Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Isai DRC 48:17  Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord thy God that teach thee profitable things, that govern thee in the way that thou walkest.
Isai VulgClem 48:17  Hæc dicit Dominus, redemptor tuus, Sanctus Israël : Ego Dominus Deus tuus, docens te utilia, gubernans te in via qua ambulas.
Isai KJV 48:17  Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
Isai DRC 48:18  O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments: thy peace had been as a river, and thy justice as the waves of the sea,
Isai VulgClem 48:18  Utinam attendisses mandata mea : facta fuisset sicut flumen pax tua, et justitia tua sicut gurgites maris :
Isai KJV 48:18  O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
Isai DRC 48:19  And thy seed had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof: his name should not have perished, nor have been destroyed from before my face.
Isai KJV 48:19  Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
Isai DRC 48:20  Come forth out of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, declare it with the voice of joy: make this to be heard, and speak it out even to the ends of the earth. Say: The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
Dicite : Redemit Dominus servum suum Jacob.
Isai KJV 48:20  Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
Isai DRC 48:21  They thirsted not in the desert, when he led them out: he brought forth water out of the rock for them, and he clove the rock, and the waters gushed out.
Isai KJV 48:21  And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.
Isai DRC 48:22  There is no peace to the wicked, saith the Lord.
Isai VulgClem 48:22  Non est pax impiis, dicit Dominus.
Isai KJV 48:22  There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
