Chapter 17
Jere DRC 17:1  The sin of Juda is written with a pen of iron, with the point of a diamond, it is graven upon the table of their heart, upon the horns of their altars.
Jere VulgClem 17:1  Peccatum Juda scriptum est stylo ferreo in ungue adamantino, exaratum super latitudinem cordis eorum, et in cornibus ararum eorum.
Jere KJV 17:1  The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;
Jere DRC 17:2  When their children shall remember their altars, and their groves, and their green trees upon the high mountains,
Jere VulgClem 17:2  Cum recordati fuerint filii eorum ararum suarum, et lucorum suorum, lignorumque frondentium, in montibus excelsis,
Jere KJV 17:2  Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills.
Jere DRC 17:3  Sacrificing in the field: I will give thy strength, and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin in all thy borders.
Jere VulgClem 17:3  sacrificantes in agro : fortitudinem tuam, et omnes thesauros tuos in direptionem dabo ; excelsa tua propter peccata in universis finibus tuis.
Jere KJV 17:3  O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.
Jere DRC 17:4  And thou shalt be left stripped of thy inheritance, which I gave thee: and I will make thee serve thy enemies in a land which thou knowest not: because thou hast kindled a fire in my wrath, it shall burn for ever.
Jere VulgClem 17:4  Et relinqueris sola ab hæreditate tua, quam dedi tibi, et servire te faciam inimicis tuis in terra quam ignoras : quoniam ignem succendisti in furore meo : usque in æternum ardebit.
Jere KJV 17:4  And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.
Jere DRC 17:5  Thus saith the Lord: Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Jere VulgClem 17:5  Hæc dicit Dominus : Maledictus homo qui confidit in homine, et ponit carnem brachium suum, et a Domino recedit cor ejus.
Jere KJV 17:5  Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Jere DRC 17:6  For he shall be like tamaric in the desert, and he shall not see when good shall come: but he shall dwell in dryness in the desert in a salt land, and not inhabited.
Jere KJV 17:6  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
Jere DRC 17:7  Blessed be the man that trusteth in the Lord, and the Lord shall be his confidence.
Jere VulgClem 17:7  Benedictus vir qui confidit in Domino, et erit Dominus fiducia ejus.
Jere KJV 17:7  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
Jere DRC 17:8  And he shall be as a tree that is planted by the waters, that spreadeth out its roots towards moisture: and it shall not fear when the heat cometh. And the leaf thereof shall be green, and in the time of drought it shall not be solicitous, neither shall it cease at any time to bring forth fruit.
Jere KJV 17:8  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jere DRC 17:9  The heart is perverse above all things, and unsearchable, who can know it?
Jere KJV 17:9  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jere DRC 17:10  I am the Lord who search the heart, and prove the reins: who give to every one according to his way, and according to the fruit of his devices.
Jere KJV 17:10  I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jere DRC 17:11  As the partridge hath hatched eggs which she did not lay: so is he that hath gathered riches, and not by right: in the midst of his days he shall leave them, and in his latter end he shall be a fool.
Jere KJV 17:11  As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
Jere DRC 17:12  A high and glorious throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctification.
Jere VulgClem 17:12  Solium gloriæ altitudinis a principio, locus sanctificationis nostræ.
Jere KJV 17:12  A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.
Jere DRC 17:13  O Lord, the hope of Israel: all that forsake thee shall be confounded: they that depart from thee, shall be written in the earth: because they have forsaken the Lord, the vein of living waters.
Jere VulgClem 17:13  Exspectatio Israël, Domine, omnes qui te derelinquunt confundentur : recedentes a te, in terra scribentur, quoniam dereliquerunt venam aquarum viventium Dominum.
Jere KJV 17:13  O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters.
Jere DRC 17:14  Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed: save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Jere VulgClem 17:14  Sana me, Domine, et sanabor : salvum me fac, et salvus ero : quoniam laus mea tu es.
Jere KJV 17:14  Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Jere DRC 17:15  Behold they say to me: Where is the word of the Lord? let it come.
Jere VulgClem 17:15  Ecce ipsi dicunt ad me : Ubi est verbum Domini ? veniat :
Jere KJV 17:15  Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the Lord? let it come now.
Jere DRC 17:16  And I am not troubled, following thee for my pastor, and I have not desired the day of man, thou knowest. That which went out of my lips, hath been right in thy sight.
Jere KJV 17:16  As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.
Jere DRC 17:17  Be not thou a terror unto me, thou art my hope in the day of affliction.
Jere VulgClem 17:17  Non sis tu mihi formidini : spes mea tu in die afflictionis.
Jere KJV 17:17  Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil.
Jere DRC 17:18  Let them be confounded that persecute me, and let not me be confounded: let them be afraid, and let not me be afraid: bring upon them the day of affliction, and with a double destruction, destroy them.
Jere KJV 17:18  Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.
Jere DRC 17:19  Thus saith the Lord to me: Go, and stand in the gate of the children of the people, by which the kings of Juda come in, and go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem:
Jere VulgClem 17:19  Hæc dicit Dominus ad me : Vade, et sta in porta filiorum populi, per quam ingrediuntur reges Juda, et egrediuntur, et in cunctis portis Jerusalem :
Jere KJV 17:19  Thus said the Lord unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem;
Jere DRC 17:20  And thou shalt say to them: Hear the word of the Lord, ye kings of Juda, and al Juda, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates.
Jere KJV 17:20  And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the Lord, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:
Jere DRC 17:21  Thus saith the Lord: Take heed to your souls, and carry no burdens on the sabbath day: and bring them not in by the gates of Jerusalem.
Jere KJV 17:21  Thus saith the Lord; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
Jere DRC 17:22  And do not bring burdens out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work: sanctify the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
Jere KJV 17:22  Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
Jere DRC 17:23  But they did not hear, nor incline their ear: but hardened their neck, that they might not hear me, and might not receive instruction.
Jere KJV 17:23  But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
Jere DRC 17:24  And it shall come to pass: if you will hearken to me, saith the Lord, to bring in no burdens by the gates of this city on the sabbath day: and if you will sanctify the sabbath day, to do no work therein:
Jere VulgClem 17:24  Et erit : si audieritis me, dicit Dominus, ut non inferatis onera per portas civitatis hujus in die sabbati : et si sanctificaveritis diem sabbati, ne faciatis in eo omne opus :
Jere KJV 17:24  And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the Lord, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
Jere DRC 17:25  Then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes, sitting upon the throne of David, and riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Juda, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall be inhabited for ever.
Jere KJV 17:25  Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.
Jere DRC 17:26  And they shall come from the cities of Juda, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plains, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing holocausts, and victims, and sacrifices, and frankincense, and they shall bring in an offering into the house of the Lord.
Jere KJV 17:26  And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the Lord.
Jere DRC 17:27  But if you will not hearken to me, to sanctify the sabbath day, and not to carry burdens, and not to bring them in by the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day: I will kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the houses of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
Jere KJV 17:27  But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
