Chapter 4
Nehe DRC 4:1  And it came to pass, that when Sanaballat heard that we were building the wall he was angry: and being moved exceedingly he scoffed at the Jews.
Nehe KJV 4:1  But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Nehe Webster 4:1  But it came to pass that when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Nehe NHEB 4:1  But it happened that when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Nehe AKJV 4:1  But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Nehe DRC 4:2  And said before his brethren, and the multitude of the Samaritans: What are the silly Jews doing? Will the Gentiles let them alone? will they sacrifice and make an end in a day? are they able to raise stones out of the heaps of the rubbish, which are burnt?
Nehe KJV 4:2  And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Nehe CzeBKR 4:2  Nebo mluvil před bratřími svými a před vojskem Samařským, řka: Co ti bídní Židé berou před sebe? Tak-liž mají býti zanecháni? Což budou obětovati? Za jeden-liž den to dodělati mají? Také-liž i kamení z hromad rumu křísiti budou, kteréž spáleno jest?
Nehe Webster 4:2  And he spoke before his brethren, and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Nehe NHEB 4:2  He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burned?"
Nehe AKJV 4:2  And he spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Nehe DRC 4:3  Tobias also the Ammonite who was by him said: Let them build: if a fox go up, he will leap over their stone wall.
Nehe KJV 4:3  Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
Nehe Webster 4:3  Now Tobiah the Ammonite [was] by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox should go up, he would even break down their stone wall.
Nehe NHEB 4:3  Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, "What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall."
Nehe AKJV 4:3  Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
Nehe VulgClem 4:3  Sed et Tobias Ammanites, proximus ejus, ait : Ædificent : si ascenderit vulpes, transiliet murum eorum lapideum.
Nehe DRC 4:4  Hear thou our God, for we are despised: turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them to be despised in a land of captivity.
Nehe KJV 4:4  Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
Nehe Webster 4:4  Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
Nehe NHEB 4:4  "Hear, our God; for we are despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity;
Nehe AKJV 4:4  Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach on their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
Nehe VulgClem 4:4  Audi, Deus noster, quia facti sumus despectui : converte opprobrium super caput eorum, et da eos in despectionem in terra captivitatis.
Nehe DRC 4:5  Cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thy face, because they have mocked thy builders.
Nehe KJV 4:5  And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.
Nehe CzeCEP 4:5  Naši protivníci říkali: „Nic nepoznají a nic nepostřehnout, dokud mezi ně nevtrhneme. Pobijeme je a to dílo překazíme.“
Nehe Webster 4:5  And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked [thee] to anger before the builders.
Nehe NHEB 4:5  do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders."
Nehe AKJV 4:5  And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you: for they have provoked you to anger before the builders.
Nehe VulgClem 4:5  Ne operias iniquitatem eorum, et peccatum eorum coram facie tua non deleatur, quia irriserunt ædificantes.
Nehe DRC 4:6  So we built the wall, and joined it all together unto the half thereof: and the heart of the people was excited to work.
Nehe KJV 4:6  So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
Nehe CzeBKR 4:6  A tak stavěli jsme tu zed, a spojili všecku až do polu, a měl lid srdce k tomu dílu.
Nehe Webster 4:6  So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to the half of it, for the people had a mind to work.
Nehe NHEB 4:6  So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height: for the people had a mind to work.
Nehe AKJV 4:6  So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together to the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
Nehe DRC 4:7  And it came to pass, when Sanaballat, and Tobias, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Azotians heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and the breaches began to be closed, that they were exceedingly angry.
Nehe KJV 4:7  But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
Nehe Webster 4:7  But it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were set up, [and] that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
Nehe NHEB 4:7  But it happened that when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, then they were very angry;
Nehe AKJV 4:7  But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
Nehe DRC 4:8  And they all assembled themselves together, to come, and to fight against Jerusalem, and to prepare ambushes.
Nehe KJV 4:8  And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
Nehe CzeBKR 4:8  Protož spuntovali se všickni společně, aby táhli k boji proti Jeruzalému a aby jemu překážku učinili.
Nehe Webster 4:8  And conspired all of them together to come [and] to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
Nehe NHEB 4:8  and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein.
Nehe AKJV 4:8  And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
Nehe DRC 4:9  And we prayed to our God, and set watchmen upon the wall day and night against them.
Nehe KJV 4:9  Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
Nehe Webster 4:9  Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
Nehe NHEB 4:9  But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
Nehe AKJV 4:9  Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
Nehe VulgClem 4:9  Et oravimus Deum nostrum, et posuimus custodes super murum die ac nocte contra eos.
Nehe DRC 4:10  And Juda said: The strength of the bearer of burdens is decayed, and the rubbish is very much, and we shall not be able to build the wall.
Nehe KJV 4:10  And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Velitelé s kopími, štíty, luky a pancíři střežili celý rod Judův,
Nehe CzeCSP 4:10  Stalo se, že od onoho dne polovina mých služebníků konala práci a polovina jich držela oštěpy, štíty, luky a pancíře. Knížata stála za celým judským domem,
Nehe CzeBKR 4:10  Nebo řekli Judští: Zemdlelať jest síla nosičů, a rumu ještě mnoho jest, neodolaliť bychom jim, stavějíce zed.)
Nehe Webster 4:10  And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and [there is] much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Nehe NHEB 4:10  Judah said, "The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall."
Nehe AKJV 4:10  And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Nehe DRC 4:11  And our enemies said: Let them not know, nor understand, till we come in the midst of them, and kill them, and cause the work to cease.
Nehe KJV 4:11  And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
Nehe CzeCEP 4:11  Ti, kdo stavěli hradby, nosiči břemen i nakladači, pracovali jednou rukou na díle a v druhé drželi zbraň.
Nehe CzeB21 4:11  který stavěl hradby. Nosiči jednou rukou přenášeli stavební náklad a druhou svírali zbraň.
Nehe CzeCSP 4:11  který stavěl na hradbách. Nosiči břemen nosili takto: Jednou rukou konali práci a jednou drželi oštěp.
Nehe CzeBKR 4:11  Anobrž i řekli nepřátelé naši: Nezvědíť, ani spatří, až vpadneme mezi ně, a pomordujeme je, aneb zastavíme to dílo.
Nehe Webster 4:11  And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

Nehe VulgClem 4:11  Et dixerunt hostes nostri : Nesciant, et ignorent donec veniamus in medium eorum, et interficiamus eos, et cessare faciamus opus.
Nehe DRC 4:12  And it came to pass, that when the Jews that dwelt by them came and told us ten times, out of all the places from whence they came to us,
Nehe KJV 4:12  And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.
Nehe Webster 4:12  And it came to pass, that when the Jews who dwelt by them came, they said to us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return to us [they will be upon you].
Nehe NHEB 4:12  It happened that when the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, "Wherever you turn, they will attack us."
Nehe AKJV 4:12  And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelled by them came, they said to us ten times, From all places from where you shall return to us they will be on you.
Nehe DRC 4:13  I set the people in the place behind the wall round about in order, with their swords, and spears, and bows.
Nehe KJV 4:13  Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Nehe Webster 4:13  Therefore I set in the lower places behind the wall, [and] on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Nehe NHEB 4:13  Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Nehe AKJV 4:13  Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Nehe DRC 4:14  And I looked and rose up: and I said to the chief men and the magistrates, and to the rest of the common people: be not afraid of them. Remember the Lord who is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, and your wives, and your houses.
Nehe KJV 4:14  And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Nehe Webster 4:14  And I looked, and arose, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be ye not afraid of them: remember the Lord [who is] great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Nehe NHEB 4:14  I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, "Do not be afraid of them! Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses."
Nehe AKJV 4:14  And I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not you afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Nehe DRC 4:15  And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that the thing had been told us, that God defeated their counsel. And we returned all of us to the walls, every man to his work.
Nehe KJV 4:15  And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
Nehe CzeCEP 4:15  A pokračovali jsme v díle; polovina mužů držela kopí od svítání až do soumraku.
Nehe CzeB21 4:15  Pracovali jsme tedy na díle a polovina třímala kopí od svítání, až dokud nevyšly hvězdy.
Nehe CzeCSP 4:15  Od východu jitřenky až do vyjití hvězd jsme konali práci, zatímco polovina držela oštěpy.
Nehe Webster 4:15  And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to naught, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one to his work.
Nehe NHEB 4:15  It happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone to his work.
Nehe AKJV 4:15  And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one to his work.
Nehe DRC 4:16  And it came to pass from that day forward, that half of their young men did the work, and half were ready for to fight, with spears, and shields, and bows, and coats of mail, and the rulers were behind them in all the house of Juda.
Nehe KJV 4:16  And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
