Chapter 51
Psal DRC 51:1  Unto the end, understanding for David,
Psal VulgClem 51:1  In finem. Intellectus David,
Psal KJV 51:1  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psal DRC 51:2  When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul: David went to the house of Achimelech.
Psal VulgClem 51:2  cum venit Doëg Idumæus, et nuntiavit Sauli : Venit David in domum Achimelech.
Psal KJV 51:2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Psal DRC 51:3  Why dost thou glory in malice, thou that art mighty in iniquity?
Psal VulgClem 51:3  Quid gloriaris in malitia, qui potens es in iniquitate ?
Psal KJV 51:3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Psal DRC 51:4  All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.
Psal VulgClem 51:4  Tota die injustitiam cogitavit lingua tua ; sicut novacula acuta fecisti dolum.
Psal KJV 51:4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Psal DRC 51:5  Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.
Psal VulgClem 51:5  Dilexisti malitiam super benignitatem ; iniquitatem magis quam loqui æquitatem.
Psal KJV 51:5  Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psal DRC 51:6  Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, O deceitful tongue.
Psal VulgClem 51:6  Dilexisti omnia verba præcipitationis ; lingua dolosa.
Psal KJV 51:6  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Psal DRC 51:7  Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.
Psal VulgClem 51:7  Propterea Deus destruet te in finem ; evellet te, et emigrabit te de tabernaculo tuo, et radicem tuam de terra viventium.
Psal KJV 51:7  Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psal DRC 51:8  The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:
Psal VulgClem 51:8  Videbunt justi, et timebunt ; et super eum ridebunt, et dicent :
Psal KJV 51:8  Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Psal DRC 51:9  Behold the man that made not God his helper: But trusted in the abundance of his riches: and prevailed in his vanity.
Psal VulgClem 51:9  Ecce homo qui non posuit Deum adjutorem suum ; sed speravit in multitudine divitiarum suarum, et prævaluit in vanitate sua.
Psal KJV 51:9  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Psal DRC 51:10  But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.
Psal VulgClem 51:10  Ego autem, sicut oliva fructifera in domo Dei ; speravi in misericordia Dei, in æternum et in sæculum sæculi.
Psal KJV 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psal DRC 51:11  I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.
Psal VulgClem 51:11  Confitebor tibi in sæculum, quia fecisti ; et exspectabo nomen tuum, quoniam bonum est in conspectu sanctorum tuorum.
Psal KJV 51:11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Psal KJV 51:12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psal KJV 51:14  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

Psal KJV 51:16  For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

Psal KJV 51:17  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Psal KJV 51:18  Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
