3:1  All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.

3:14  Poznal jsem, že vše, co činí Bůh, zůstává navěky; nic k tomu nelze přidat ani z toho ubrat. A Bůh to učinil, aby lidé žili v bázni před ním.

3:14  Vím, že vše, co Bůh dělá, trvá navěky; nic k tomu nelze přidat ani z toho nic odejmout. A proč to Bůh dělá? Aby před ním měli bázeň.

3:14  Poznal jsem, že všechno, co Bůh učiní, to bude pro věčnost; není možné k tomu nic přidat a není možné od toho nic ubrat. Bůh to udělal, aby lidé měli před ním bázeň.

3:16  Dále jsem pod sluncem viděl: na místě práva - svévole, na místě spravedlnosti - svévole.

3:19  Vždyť úděl synů lidských a úděl zvířat je stejný: Jedni jako druzí umírají, jejich duch je stejný, člověk nemá žádnou přednost před zvířaty, neboť všechno pomíjí.

3:19  Lidi i zvířata čeká stejný osud – jeden umírá tak jako druhý, všichni dýchají stejný vzduch. Člověk zvířata ničím nepřevyšuje, všechno je marnost!

3:19  Neboť pokud jde o úděl lidských synů i o úděl zvířete, mají stejný úděl: Jak umírá jeden, tak umírá i druhý, a obojí stejně dýchá. Člověk nemá před zvířetem žádnou přednost, vždyť je to všechno marnost.

3:19  Případnost synů lidských a případnost hovad jest případnost jednostejná. Jakož umírá ono, tak umírá i on, a dýchání jednostejné všickni mají, aniž co napřed má člověk před hovadem; nebo všecko jest marnost.

3:22  Shledal jsem, že není nic lepšího, než když se člověk raduje z toho, co koná, neboť to je jeho podíl. Kdo mu dá nahlédnout, co se stane po něm?

3:22  Vidím tedy, že člověk nemá jiné štěstí než radovat se z díla, které je jeho údělem. Vždyť kdo mu dá nahlédnout, co chystá budoucnost?
