Chapter 3
Hebr Common 3:1  Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
Hebr Common 3:2  He was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.
Hebr Common 3:3  Yet Jesus has been counted worthy of as much more glory than Moses as the builder of a house has more honor than the house.
Hebr Common 3:4  For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
Hebr Common 3:5  Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
Hebr Common 3:6  but Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold fast to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.
Hebr Common 3:7  Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear his voice,
Hebr Common 3:8  do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
Hebr Common 3:9  where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.
Hebr Common 3:10  Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their hearts; and they have not known my ways.’
Hebr Common 3:11  As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’"
Hebr Common 3:12  Take care, brethren, lest there be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
Hebr Common 3:13  But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebr Common 3:14  For we have come to share in Christ if we hold our first confidence firm to the end,
Hebr Common 3:15  while it is said, "Today, if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
Hebr Common 3:16  Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
Hebr Common 3:17  And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
Hebr Common 3:18  And to whom did he swear that they would never enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
Hebr Common 3:19  So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
