Chapter 13
Isai DRC 13:1  The burden of Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amos saw.
Isai VulgClem 13:1  Onus Babylonis, quod vidit Isaias, filius Amos.
Isai KJV 13:1  The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
Isai DRC 13:2  Upon the dark mountain lift ye up a banner, exalt the voice, lift up the hand, and let the rulers go into the gates.
Isai VulgClem 13:2  Super montem caliginosum levate signum : exaltate vocem, levate manum, et ingrediantur portas duces.
Isai KJV 13:2  Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
Isai DRC 13:3  I have commanded my sanctified ones, and have called my strong ones in my wrath, them that rejoice in my glory.
Isai VulgClem 13:3  Ego mandavi sanctificatis meis, et vocavi fortes meos in ira mea, exsultantes in gloria mea.
Isai KJV 13:3  I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
Isai DRC 13:4  The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as it were of many people, the noise of the sound of kings, of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts hath given charge to the troops of war.
Isai VulgClem 13:4  Vox multitudinis in montibus, quasi populorum frequentium ; vox sonitus regum, gentium congregatarum. Dominus exercituum præcepit militiæ belli,
Isai KJV 13:4  The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
Isai DRC 13:5  To them that come from a country afar off, from the end of heaven: the Lord and the instruments of his wrath, to destroy the whole land.
Isai KJV 13:5  They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
Isai DRC 13:6  Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is near: it shall come as a destruction from the Lord.
Isai VulgClem 13:6  Ululate, quia prope est dies Domini ; quasi vastitas a Domino veniet.
Isai KJV 13:6  Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
Isai DRC 13:7  Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every heart of man shall melt,
Isai KJV 13:7  Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:
Isai DRC 13:8  And shall be broken. Gripings and pains, shall take hold of them, they shall be in pain as a woman in labour. Every one shall be amazed at his neighbour, their countenances shall be as faces burnt.
Isai VulgClem 13:8  et conteretur. Torsiones et dolores tenebunt ; quasi parturiens dolebunt : unusquisque ad proximum suum stupebit, facies combustæ vultus eorum.
Isai KJV 13:8  And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
Isai DRC 13:9  Behold, the day of the Lord shall come, a cruel day, and full of indignation, and of wrath, and fury, to lay the land desolate, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Isai KJV 13:9  Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Isai DRC 13:10  For the stars of heaven, and their brightness shall not display their light: the sun shall be darkened in his rising, and the moon shall not shine with her light.
Isai KJV 13:10  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Isai DRC 13:11  And I will visit the evils of the world, and against the wicked for their iniquity: and I will make the pride of infidels to cease, and will bring down the arrogancy of the mighty.
Isai VulgClem 13:11  Et visitabo super orbis mala, et contra impios iniquitatem eorum ; et quiescere faciam superbiam infidelium, et arrogantiam fortium humiliabo.
Isai KJV 13:11  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Isai DRC 13:12  A man shall be more precious than gold, yea a man than the finest of gold.
Isai VulgClem 13:12  Pretiosior erit vir auro, et homo mundo obrizo.
Isai KJV 13:12  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
Isai DRC 13:13  For this I will trouble the heaven: and the earth shall be moved out of her place, for the indignation of the Lord of hosts, and for the day of his fierce wrath.
Isai KJV 13:13  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
Isai DRC 13:14  And they shall be as a doe fleeing away, and as a sheep: and there shall be none to gather them together: every man shall turn to his own people, and every one shall flee to his own land.
Isai KJV 13:14  And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
Isai DRC 13:15  Every one that shall be found, shall be slain: and every one that shall come to their aid, shall fall by the sword.
Isai VulgClem 13:15  Omnis qui inventus fuerit occidetur, et omnis qui supervenerit cadet in gladio ;
Isai KJV 13:15  Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
Isai DRC 13:16  Their inhabitants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes: their houses shall be pillaged, and their wives shall be ravished.
Isai VulgClem 13:16  infantes eorum allidentur in oculis eorum, diripientur domus eorum, et uxores eorum violabuntur.
Isai KJV 13:16  Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
Isai DRC 13:17  Behold I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not seek silver, nor desire gold:
Isai VulgClem 13:17  Ecce ego suscitabo super eos Medos, qui argentum non quærant, nec aurum velint ;
Isai KJV 13:17  Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
Isai DRC 13:18  But with their arrows they shall kill the children, and shall have no pity upon the sucklings of the womb, and their eye shall not spare their sons.
Isai KJV 13:18  Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.
Isai DRC 13:19  And that Babylon, glorious among kingdoms, the famous pride of the Chaldeans, shall be even as the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha.
Isai VulgClem 13:19  Et erit Babylon illa gloriosa in regnis, inclyta superbia Chaldæorum, sicut subvertit Dominus Sodomam et Gomorrham.
Isai KJV 13:19  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
Isai DRC 13:20  It shall no more be inhabited for ever, and it shall not be founded unto generation and generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch his tents there, nor shall shepherds rest there.
Isai KJV 13:20  It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
Isai DRC 13:21  But wild beasts shall rest there, and their houses shall be filled with serpents, and ostriches shall dwell there, and the hairy ones shall dance there:
Isai VulgClem 13:21  Sed requiescent ibi bestiæ, et replebuntur domus eorum draconibus, et habitabunt ibi struthiones, et pilosi saltabunt ibi ;
Isai KJV 13:21  But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
Isai DRC 13:22  And owls shall answer one another there, in the houses thereof, and sirens in the temples of pleasure.
Isai VulgClem 13:22  et respondebunt ibi ululæ in ædibus ejus, et sirenes in delubris voluptatis.
Isai KJV 13:22  And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
