22:1  Men, brethren and fathers, hear ye the account which I now give unto you.

22:2  (And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, they kept the more silence.)

22:3  And he saith: I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the truth of the law of the fathers, zealous for the law, as also all you are this day:

22:3  I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

22:3  „Já jsem Žid a narodil jsem se v Tarsu v Kilikii, ale vychován jsem byl zde v Jeruzalémě. V Gamalielově škole jsem byl přesně vyučen zákonu našich otců. Byl jsem právě tak plný horlivosti pro Boha, jako jste dnes vy všichni,

22:3  „Jsem Žid narozený v kilikijském Tarsu, ale vychovaný zde v tomto městě. Zákonu našich otců jsem byl vyučen v největší přísnosti u nohou Gamalielových a byl jsem horlivcem pro Boha, jako jste dodnes vy všichni.

22:3  „Já jsem Žid narozený v Tarsu v Kilikii, avšak vychovaný v tomto městě. U nohou Gamalielových jsem byl přesně vyučen otcovskému zákonu ⌈a horlil jsem⌉ pro Boha jako dnes vy všichni.

22:3  Já zajisté jsem muž Žid, narozený v Tarsu Cilickém, ale vychován jsem v tomto městě u noh Gamalielových, vyučený s pilností zákonu otcovskému, horlivý jsa milovník Boha, jakož i vy všickni podnes jste.

22:3  I am verily a man [who am] a Jew, born in Tarsus, [a city] in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, [and] taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, being zealous towards God, as ye all are this day.

22:4  Who persecuted this way unto death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,

22:5  As the high priest doth bear me witness and all the ancients. From whom also receiving letters to the brethren, I went to Damascus, that I might bring them bound from thence to Jerusalem to be punished.

22:5  jak mi může dosvědčit velekněz a celý sbor starších. Od nich jsem dostal doporučující dopisy pro židovské souvěrce v Damašku a vydal jsem se tam, abych tamější stoupence nové víry přivedl v poutech do Jeruzaléma a dal je potrestat.

22:5  As also the high priest doth bear me testimony, and all the estate of the elders; from whom also I received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them who were there bound to Jerusalem, to be punished.

22:9  And they that were with me saw indeed the light: but they heard not the voice of him that spoke with me.

22:9  And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spoke to me.

22:10  And I said: What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me: Arise and go to Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things that thou must do.

22:10  And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

22:11  And whereas I did not see for the brightness of that light, being led by the hand by my companions, I came to Damascus,

22:14  And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldst know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldst hear the voice of his mouth.

22:14  At ille dixit : Deus patrum nostrorum præordinavit te, ut cognosceres voluntatem ejus, et videres justum, et audires vocem ex ore ejus :

22:15  For thou shalt be his witness to all men of those things which thou hast seen and heard.

22:16  And now why tarriest thou? Rise up and be baptized and wash away thy sins, invoking his name.

22:17  And it came to pass, when I was come again to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance,

22:19  Já jsem odpověděl: ‚Pane, oni vědí, že jsem dával uvěznit a bičovat v synagógách ty, kdo v tebe věří.
