9:1  Who will give water to my head, and a fountain of tears to my eyes? and I will weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.

9:3  Střezte se svého druha, na žádného bratra nespoléhejte, neboť každý bratr je samý úskok a každý druh utrhá, kudy chodí.

9:3  Před bližním se měj na pozoru, vlastnímu bratru se nesvěřuj; všichni ti bratři jsou totiž podrazáci, všichni ti bližní roznášejí pomluvy.

9:3  Mějte se každý na pozoru před svým přítelem, nedůvěřujte žádnému bratru, protože všichni bratři podvádějí a všichni přátelé pomlouvají, kudy chodí.

9:3  A natahují jazyka svého ke lži jako lučiště své. Zmocnili se na zemi, ale ne k pravdě; nebo ze zlého ve zlé jdou, a mne neznají, praví Hospodin.

9:4  Kdekdo chce svého druha přelstít a neřekne pravdu. Učí svůj jazyk mluvit jen klam, vyčerpávají se nepravostmi.

9:4  Jeden druhého podvádějí, pravdu už vůbec nemluví; svůj jazyk naučili mluvit lži, pro zvrácenost by se ztrhali.

9:6  Nuže, tak praví Hospodin zástupů: „Hle, budu je přetavovat a tříbit. Co si mám počít, když je můj lid takový?

9:6  Proto takto praví Hospodin zástupů: Hle, já je přečistím a vyzkouším, protože jak jinak bych měl jednat s dcerou svého lidu?

9:6  Tvůj byt jest u prostřed lidu přelstivého; pro lest nechtějí mne poznati, dí Hospodin.

9:7  Šíp, který zabíjí, je jejich jazyk, jejich ústa mluví lstivě. S bližním mluví o pokoji, ale ve svém nitru strojí úklady.

9:8  Což je za to nemám trestat? je výrok Hospodinův. Což takový pronárod nemá postihnout má pomsta?

9:8  Copak je mohu nechat bez trestu? praví Hospodin. Copak je nemám stihnout pomstou, když je ten národ takový?“

9:8  Cožpak je za to nemám navštívit? je Hospodinův výrok. Zdalipak se moje duše nepomstí na národě, jako je tento?

9:8  Střela zabíjející jest jazyk jejich, lest mluví. Ústy svými pokojně s bližním svým mluví, ale v srdci svém skládá úklady své.

9:9  Běduji a pláči nad horami, nad stepními pastvinami pěji žalozpěv, že byly vypáleny; už jimi nikdo neprochází, ani bečení stád není slyšet. Od nebeského ptactva až po dobytek se všechno vyplašilo a odtáhlo.

9:10  For the mountains I will take up weeping and lamentation, and for the beautiful places of the desert, mourning: because they are burnt up, for that there is not a man that passeth through them: and they have not heard the voice of the owner: from the fowl of the air to the beasts they are gone away and departed.

9:10  Pro tyto hory dám se v pláč a v naříkání, a pro pastviště, kteráž jsou na poušti, v kvílení; nebo popálena budou, tak že nebude žádného, kdo by skrze ně šel, aniž bude slyšán hlas dobytka. Od ptactva nebeského až do hovada všecko se odbéře a odejde.

9:11  Kdo je tak moudrý, aby to pochopil a rozhlašoval, co k němu promluvila Hospodinova ústa? Proč přišla nazmar země, je vypálenou stepí, jíž nikdo neprochází?

9:12  Hospodin praví: „Poněvadž opustili můj zákon, který jsem jim předložil, neposlouchali mě a jím se neřídili,

9:23  ale kdo se chlubí, ať se chlubí ⌈tím, že je rozumný a zná mě,⌉ že já, Hospodin, vykonávám na zemi milosrdenství, právo a spravedlnost, ⌈protože v těchto věcech⌉ mám zalíbení, je Hospodinův výrok.

9:23  Takto praví Hospodin: Nechlub se moudrý v moudrosti své, ani se chlub silný v síle své, aniž se chlub bohatý v bohatství svém.
