16:2  And when the Philistines had heard this, and it was noised about among them, that Samson was come into the city, they surrounded him, setting guards at the gate of the city, and watching there all the night in silence, that in the morning they might kill him as he went out.

16:2  And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

16:2  I povědíno obyvatelům Gázy: Samson přišel sem. Kteříž obeslavše se, střáhli na něj v bráně města přes celou noc, a stavěli se tiše té celé noci, řkouce: Až ráno zabijeme jej.

16:2  [And it was told] the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they encompassed [him], and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning when it is day we shall kill him.

16:2  The Gazites were told, "Samson is here!" They surrounded him, and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city, and were quiet all night, saying, "Wait until morning light, then we will kill him."

16:5  And the princes of the Philistines came to her, and said: Deceive him, and learn of him wherein his great strength lieth, and how we may be able to overcome him, to bind and afflict him: which if thou shalt do, we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

16:5  And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

16:5  I přišla k ní pelištejská knížata se žádostí: „Hleď na něm vymámit, v čem spočívá jeho veliká síla, jak bychom ho přemohli a spoutali a zneškodnili. Každý z nás ti dá tisíc sto šekelů stříbra.“

16:5  Vypravili se k ní tedy pelištejští vladaři a řekli jí: Umluv ho a zjisti, v čem spočívá jeho velká síla a čím jej přemůžeme a svážeme, abychom ho pokořili. My ti dáme každý tisíc sto šekelů stříbra.

16:5  I přišli knížata Filistinská k ní a řekli jí: Oklamej ho a zvěz, v čem jest síla jeho tak veliká, a jak bychom přemohli jej, abychom svížíce, skrotili jej; tobě pak jeden každý z nás dáme tisíc a sto lotů stříbra.

16:5  And the lords of the Philistines came to her, and said to her, Entice him, and see in what his great strength [lieth], and by what [means] we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred [pieces] of silver.

16:6  And Dalila said to Samson: Tell me, I beseech thee, wherein thy greatest strength lieth, and what it is, wherewith if thou wert bound, thou couldst not break loose.

16:6  And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

16:6  Delíla tedy naléhala na Samsona: „Prozraď mi přece, v čem spočívá tvá veliká síla a čím tě spoutat, abys byl zneškodněn?“

16:6  Dalila se tedy Samsona vyptávala: „Prozraď mi, prosím, v čem je ta tvoje veliká síla? Čím bys mohl být spoután a zkrocen?“

16:6  A tak Delíla řekla Samsonovi: Pověz mi, prosím, v čem spočívá tvá velká síla a čím můžeš být spoután, abys byl poražen.

16:6  Tedy řekla Dalila Samsonovi: Prosím, oznam mi, v čem jest tak veliká síla tvá, a čím bys svázán a zemdlen býti mohl?

16:6  And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, in what thy great strength [lieth], and with what thou mayest be bound to afflict thee.

16:6  Locuta est ergo Dalila ad Samson : Dic mihi, obsecro, in quo sit tua maxima fortitudo, et quid sit quo ligatus erumpere nequeas ?

16:7  And Samson answered her: If I shall be bound with seven cords, made of sinews not yet dry, but still moist, I shall be weak like other men.

16:7  And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

16:7  Samson jí řekl: „Kdyby mě spoutali sedmi syrovými houžvemi, které ještě nevyschly, zeslábl bych a byl bych jako kterýkoli člověk.“

16:8  And the princes of the Philistines brought unto her seven cords, such as he spoke of, with which she bound him;

16:8  Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

16:9  Men lying privately in wait with her, and in the chamber, expecting the event of the thing, and she cried out to him: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And he broke the bands, as a man would break a thread of tow twined with spittle, when it smelleth the fire: so it was not known wherein his strength lay.

16:9  Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

16:9  Přitom u ní v pokojíku na něj číhali. Pak křikla na Samsona: „Samsone, jdou na tebe Pelištejci!“ Tu zpřetrhal houžve, jako se trhá šňůrka z koudele, když ji sežehne oheň, a nevyšlo najevo, v čem spočívá jeho síla.

16:9  (V pokoji přitom měla ukryté muže.) Vtom na něj zavolala: „Samsone, Filištíni jdou na tebe!“ On ale ty tětivy roztrhal, jako se trhá koudel, když se jí dotkne plamen. Tajemství jeho síly tedy nebylo odhaleno.

16:9  Ti, kdo na něj číhali, seděli u ní v pokoji. Řekla mu: Jdou na tebe Pelištejci, Samsone! Zpřetrhal ta lana, jako se přetrhne šňůrka z koudele, když se přiblíží k ohni, a jeho síla nebyla odhalena.

16:9  (V zálohách pak nastrojeni byli někteří u ní v komoře.) I řekla jemu: Filistinští na tě, Samsone. A on roztrhl houžve, jako by přetrhl nit koudelnou, přistrče k ohni, a není poznána síla jeho.

16:9  (Now [there were] men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber.) And she said to him, The Philistines [are] upon thee, Samson. And he broke the withs as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

16:9  Now she had an ambush waiting in the inner room. She said to him, "The Philistines are on you, Samson!" He broke the cords, as a string of tow is broken when it touches the fire. So his strength was not known.

16:9  Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said to him, The Philistines be on you, Samson. And he broke the thongs, as a thread of wick is broken when it touches the fire. So his strength was not known.

16:9  latentibus apud se insidiis, et in cubiculo finem rei expectantibus : clamavitque ad eum : Philisthiim super te, Samson. Qui rupit vincula, quomodo si rumpat quis filum de stuppæ tortum putamine, cum odorem ignis acceperit : et non est cognitum in quo esset fortitudo ejus.

16:10  And Dalila said to him: Behold thou hast mocked me, and hast told me a false thing: but now at least tell me wherewith thou mayest be bound.

16:10  And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

16:10  Delíla naléhala na Samsona: „Vidíš, jak jsi mě obelstil a vykládals mi lži. Teď mi však prozraď, čím bys mohl být spoután.“

16:10  Nato Delíla Samsonovi řekla: Vida, podváděl jsi mě a vykládal jsi mi lži. Nyní mi prosím pověz, čím můžeš být spoután.

16:10  Tedy řekla Dalila Samsonovi: Aj, oklamals mne a lživě jsi mi mluvil. Prosím, oznam mi nyní, čím bys mohl svázán býti?

16:10  And Delilah said to Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, with what thou mayest be bound.

16:11  And he answered her: If I shall be bound with new ropes, that were never in work, I shall be weak and like other men.

16:11  And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

16:11  Odpověděl jí: „Kdyby mě pevně spoutali novými provazy, jichž se dosud nepoužilo, zeslábl bych a byl bych jako kterýkoli člověk.“

16:11  Řekl jí tedy: „Kdyby mě pevně spoutali novými provazy, které se ještě na nic nepoužily, byl bych slabý jako každý jiný.“

16:11  And he said to her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were used, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

16:11  And he said to her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

16:11  Cui ille respondit : Si ligatus fuero novis funibus, qui numquam fuerunt in opere, infirmus ero, et aliorum hominum similis.

16:12  Dalila bound him again with these, and cried out: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson, there being an ambush prepared for him in the chamber. But he broke the bands like threads of webs.

16:12  Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

16:12  I vzala Delíla nové provazy, spoutala ho jimi a křikla na něho: „Samsone, jdou na tebe Pelištejci!“ Přitom v pokojíku na něj číhali. Tu strhal provazy s paží jako nitě.

16:12  Dalila pak vzala nové provazy a spoutala ho jimi. Vtom na něj zavolala: „Samsone, Filištíni jdou na tebe!“ (V pokoji přitom měla ukryté muže.) On si ale ty provazy strhal z paží jako nitě.

16:12  Delíla tedy vzala nové popruhy a svázala ho jimi. Pak mu řekla: Jdou na tebe Pelištejci, Samsone! Ti, kdo na něj číhali, seděli v pokoji. Ale on je na svých pažích zpřetrhal jako šňůry.

16:12  I vzala Dalila provazy nové a svázala ho jimi, a řekla jemu: Filistinští na tě, Samsone. (Zálohy pak nastrojeny byly v komoře.) I roztrhl je na rukou svých jako nitku.

16:12  Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him with them, and said to him, The Philistines [are] upon thee, Samson. (And [there were] liers in wait abiding in the chamber.) And he broke them from off his arms like a thread.

16:12  So Delilah took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said to him, "The Philistines are on you, Samson!" The ambush was waiting in the inner room. He broke them off his arms like a thread.

16:12  Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said to him, The Philistines be on you, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he broke them from off his arms like a thread.

16:12  Quibus rursum Dalila vinxit eum, et clamavit : Philisthiim super te, Samson : in cubiculo insidiis præparatis. Qui ita rupit vincula quasi fila telarum.

16:13  And Dalila said to him again: How long dost thou deceive me, and tell me lies? Shew me wherewith thou mayest be bound. And Samson answered her: If thou plattest the seven locks of my head with a lace, and tying them round about a nail, fastenest it in the ground, I shall be weak.

16:13  And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

16:13  Delíla vyčítala Samsonovi: „I teď jsi mě obelstil a vykládáš mi lži. Prozraď mi, čím bys mohl být spoután!“ Odpověděl jí: „Kdybys vpletla mých sedm pramenů vlasů do osnovy.“

16:13  Dalila pak Samsonovi vyčítala: „Až doteď jsi mě klamal, říkal jsi mi lži! Pověz mi, čím bys mohl být spoután?“ Řekl jí tedy: „Kdybys těch sedm copů, co mám na hlavě, vpletla do osnovy a utáhla kolíkem, byl bych slabý jako každý jiný.“

16:13  Delíla nato Samsonovi řekla: Až doposud jsi mě podváděl a vykládal jsi mi lži. Pověz mi, čím můžeš být spoután. Řekl jí: Stačí, když vetkáš sedm pramenů vlasů mé hlavy do osnovy.

16:13  Tedy řekla Dalila Samsonovi: Až dosavad jsi mne svodil, a mluvils mi lež. Pověziž mi, čím bys svázán býti mohl. Odpověděl jí: Kdybys přivila sedm pramenů z vlasů hlavy mé k vratidlu tkadlcovskému.

16:13  And Delilah said to Samson, hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me with what thou mayest be bound. And he said to her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

16:13  Delilah said to Samson, "Until now, you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me with what you might be bound." He said to her, "If you weave the seven locks of my head with the web."

16:13  And Delilah said to Samson, Till now you have mocked me, and told me lies: tell me with which you might be bound. And he said to her, If you weave the seven locks of my head with the web.

16:13  Dixitque Dalila rursum ad eum : Usquequo decipis me, et falsum loqueris ? ostende quo vinciri debeas. Cui respondit Samson : Si septem crines capitis mei cum licio plexueris, et clavum his circumligatum terræ fixeris, infirmus ero.

16:14  And when Dalila had done this, she said to him: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And awaking out of his sleep, he drew out the nail with the hairs and the lace.

16:14  And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

16:14  Učinila tak, upevnila kolíkem a křikla na něho: „Samsone, jdou na tebe Pelištejci!“ Procitl ze spánku a vytrhl kolík, vratidlo i osnovu.

16:14  Když pak usnul, Dalila vzala sedm copů na jeho hlavě, vpletla je do osnovy a utáhla kolíkem. Vtom na něj zavolala: „Samsone, Filištíni jdou na tebe!“ Probudil se ze spánku a vytrhl kolík i se stavem a osnovou.

16:14  Upevnila osnovu ještě kolíkem a řekla mu: Jdou na tebe Pelištejci, Samsone! On se probral ze spánku a vytrhl ten kolík, člunek i osnovu.

16:14  Což učinivši, zarazila hřebem, a řekla jemu: Filistinští na tě, Samsone. A procítiv ze sna svého, vytrhl hřeb, osnovu i s vratidlem.

16:14  And she fastened [it] with the pin, and said to him, The Philistines [are] upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

16:14  She fastened it with the pin, and said to him, "The Philistines are on you, Samson!" He awakened out of his sleep, and plucked away the pin of the beam, and the web.

16:14  Quod cum fecisset Dalila, dixit ad eum : Philisthiim super te, Samson. Qui consurgens de somno extraxit clavum cum crinibus et licio.

16:15  And Dalila said to him: How dost thou say thou lovest me, when thy mind is not with me? Thou hast told me lies these three times, and wouldst not tell me wherein thy greatest strength lieth.
