144:1  Praise, for David himself. I will extol thee, O God my king: and I will bless thy name for ever; yea, for ever and ever.

144:1  Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

144:1  Laudatio ipsi David. Exaltabo te, Deus meus rex, et benedicam nomini tuo in sæculum, et in sæculum sæculi.

144:2  Every day will I bless thee: and I will praise thy name for ever; yea, for ever and ever.

144:2  My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

144:2  Per singulos dies benedicam tibi, et laudabo nomen tuum in sæculum, et in sæculum sæculi.

144:3  Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: and of his greatness there is no end.

144:3  Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

144:3  Magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis, et magnitudinis ejus non est finis.

144:4  Generation and generation shall praise thy works: and they shall declare thy power.

144:4  Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

144:4  Generatio et generatio laudabit opera tua, et potentiam tuam pronuntiabunt.

144:5  They shall speak of the magnificence of the glory of thy holiness: and shall tell thy wondrous works.

144:5  Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

144:5  Magnificentiam gloriæ sanctitatis tuæ loquentur, et mirabilia tua narrabunt.

144:6  And they shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and shall declare thy greatness.

144:6  Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.

144:6  Et virtutem terribilium tuorum dicent, et magnitudinem tuam narrabunt.

144:7  They shall publish the memory of the abundance of thy sweetness: and shall rejoice in thy justice.

144:7  Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;

144:7  Memoriam abundantiæ suavitatis tuæ eructabunt, et justitia tua exsultabunt.

144:8  The Lord is gracious and merciful: patient and plenteous in mercy.

144:8  Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

144:8  Miserator et misericors Dominus : patiens, et multum misericors.

144:9  The Lord is sweet to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

144:9  I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

144:9  Suavis Dominus universis, et miserationes ejus super omnia opera ejus.

144:10  Let all thy works, O Lord, praise thee: and let thy saints bless thee.

144:10  It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.

144:10  Confiteantur tibi, Domine, omnia opera tua, et sancti tui benedicant tibi.

144:11  They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom: and shall tell of thy power:

144:11  Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

144:11  Gloriam regni tui dicent, et potentiam tuam loquentur :

144:12  To make thy might known to the sons of men: and the glory of the magnificence of thy kingdom.

144:12  That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:

144:12  ut notam faciant filiis hominum potentiam tuam, et gloriam magnificentiæ regni tui.

144:13  Thy kingdom is a kingdom of all ages: and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words: and holy in all his works.

144:13  That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:

144:13  Regnum tuum regnum omnium sæculorum ; et dominatio tua in omni generatione et generationem. Fidelis Dominus in omnibus verbis suis, et sanctus in omnibus operibus suis.

144:14  The Lord lifteth up all that fall: and setteth up all that are cast down.

144:14  That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

144:14  Allevat Dominus omnes qui corruunt, et erigit omnes elisos.

144:15  The eyes of all hope in thee, O Lord: and thou givest them meat in due season.

144:15  Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

144:15  Oculi omnium in te sperant, Domine, et tu das escam illorum in tempore opportuno.

144:16  Thou openest thy hand, and fillest with blessing every living creature.

144:16  Aperis tu manum tuam, et imples omne animal benedictione.

144:17  The Lord is just in all his ways: and holy in all his works.

144:17  Justus Dominus in omnibus viis suis, et sanctus in omnibus operibus suis.

144:18  The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him: to all that call upon him in truth.

144:18  Prope est Dominus omnibus invocantibus eum, omnibus invocantibus eum in veritate.

144:19  He will do the will of them that fear him: and he will hear their prayer, and save them.

144:19  Voluntatem timentium se faciet, et deprecationem eorum exaudiet, et salvos faciet eos.

144:20  The Lord keepeth all them that love him; but all the wicked he will destroy.

144:20  Custodit Dominus omnes diligentes se, et omnes peccatores disperdet.

144:21  My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name forever; yea, for ever and ever.

144:21  Laudationem Domini loquetur os meum ; et benedicat omnis caro nomini sancto ejus in sæculum, et in sæculum sæculi.
