76:1  Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.

76:1  In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

76:1  In finem, pro Idithun. Psalmus Asaph.

76:2  I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.

76:2  In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

76:2  Voce mea ad Dominum clamavi ; voce mea ad Deum, et intendit mihi.

76:3  In the days of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:

76:3  There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

76:3  In die tribulationis meæ Deum exquisivi ; manibus meis nocte contra eum, et non sum deceptus. Renuit consolari anima mea ;

76:4  I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.

76:4  Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

76:4  memor fui Dei, et delectatus sum, et exercitatus sum, et defecit spiritus meus.

76:5  My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.

76:5  The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

76:5  Anticipaverunt vigilias oculi mei ; turbatus sum, et non sum locutus.

76:6  I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.

76:6  At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

76:6  Cogitavi dies antiquos, et annos æternos in mente habui.

76:7  And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.

76:7  Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

76:7  Et meditatus sum nocte cum corde meo, et exercitabar, et scopebam spiritum meum.

76:8  Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?

76:8  Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

76:8  Numquid in æternum projiciet Deus ? aut non apponet ut complacitior sit adhuc ?

76:9  Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?

76:9  When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

76:9  aut in finem misericordiam suam abscindet, a generatione in generationem ?

76:10  Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?

76:10  Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

76:10  aut obliviscetur misereri Deus ? aut continebit in ira sua misericordias suas ?

76:11  And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.

76:11  Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

76:11  Et dixi : Nunc cœpi ; hæc mutatio dexteræ Excelsi.

76:12  I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.

76:12  He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

76:12  Memor fui operum Domini, quia memor ero ab initio mirabilium tuorum :

76:13  And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions.

76:13  et meditabor in omnibus operibus tuis, et in adinventionibus tuis exercebor.

76:14  Thy way, O God, is in the holy place: who is the great God like our God?

76:14  Deus, in sancto via tua : quis deus magnus sicut Deus noster ?

76:15  Thou art the God that dost wonders. Thou hast made thy power known among the nations:

76:15  Tu es Deus qui facis mirabilia : notam fecisti in populis virtutem tuam.

76:16  With thy arm thou hast redeemed thy people the children of Jacob and of Joseph.

76:16  Redemisti in brachio tuo populum tuum, filios Jacob et Joseph.

76:17  The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: and they were afraid, and the depths were troubled.

76:17  Viderunt te aquæ, Deus ; viderunt te aquæ, et timuerunt : et turbatæ sunt abyssi.

76:18  Great was the noise of the waters: the clouds sent out a sound. For thy arrows pass:

76:18  Multitudo sonitus aquarum ; vocem dederunt nubes. Etenim sagittæ tuæ transeunt ;

76:19  The voice of thy thunder in a wheel. Thy lightnings enlightened the world: the earth shook and trembled.

76:19  vox tonitrui tui in rota. Illuxerunt coruscationes tuæ orbi terræ ; commota est, et contremuit terra.

76:20  Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters: and thy footsteps shall not be known.

76:20  In mari via tua, et semitæ tuæ in aquis multis, et vestigia tua non cognoscentur.

76:21  Thou hast conducted thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

76:21  Deduxisti sicut oves populum tuum, in manu Moysi et Aaron.
