Chapter 17
Gene DRC 17:1  And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect.
Gene KJV 17:1  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Gene DRC 17:2  And I will make my covenant between me and thee: and I will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gene KJV 17:2  And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gene DRC 17:3  Abram fell flat on his face.
Gene VulgClem 17:3  Cecidit Abram pronus in faciem.
Gene KJV 17:3  And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
Gene DRC 17:4  And God said to him: I am, and my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Gene VulgClem 17:4  Dixitque ei Deus : Ego sum, et pactum meum tecum, erisque pater multarum gentium.
Gene KJV 17:4  As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Gene DRC 17:5  Neither shall thy name be called any more Abram: but thou shalt be called Abraham: because I have made thee a father of many nations.
Gene VulgClem 17:5  Nec ultra vocabitur nomen tuum Abram, sed appellaberis Abraham : quia patrem multarum gentium constitui te.
Gene KJV 17:5  Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
Gene DRC 17:6  And I will make thee increase exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Gene VulgClem 17:6  Faciamque te crescere vehementissime, et ponam te in gentibus, regesque ex te egredientur.
Gene KJV 17:6  And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Gene DRC 17:7  And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and between thy seed after thee in their generations, by a perpetual covenant: to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Gene KJV 17:7  And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Gene DRC 17:8  And I will give to thee, and to thy seed, the land of thy sojournment, all the land of Chanaan, for a perpetual possession, and I will be their God.
Gene VulgClem 17:8  Daboque tibi et semini tuo terram peregrinationis tuæ, omnem terram Chanaan in possessionem æternam, eroque Deus eorum.
Gene KJV 17:8  And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
Gene DRC 17:9  Again God said to Abraham: And thou therefore shalt keep my covenant, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
Gene VulgClem 17:9  Dixit iterum Deus ad Abraham : Et tu ergo custodies pactum meum, et semen tuum post te in generationibus suis.
Gene KJV 17:9  And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
Gene DRC 17:10  This is my covenant which you shall observe between me and you, and thy seed after thee: All the male-kind of you shall be circumcised.
Gene KJV 17:10  This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
Gene DRC 17:11  And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, that it may be for a sign of the covenant between me and you.
Gene KJV 17:11  And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
Gene DRC 17:12  An infant of eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every manchild in your generations: he that is born in the house, as well as the bought servant, shall be circumcised, and whosoever is not of your stock:
Gene VulgClem 17:12  Infans octo dierum circumcidetur in vobis, omne masculinum in generationibus vestris : tam vernaculus, quam emptitius circumcidetur, et quicumque non fuerit de stirpe vestra :
Gene KJV 17:12  And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
Gene DRC 17:13  And my covenant shall be in your flesh for a perpetual covenant.
Gene VulgClem 17:13  eritque pactum meum in carne vestra in fœdus æternum.
Gene KJV 17:13  He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Gene DRC 17:14  The male whose flesh of his foreskin shall not be circumcised, that soul shall be destroyed out of his people: because he hath broken my covenant.
Gene VulgClem 17:14  Masculus, cujus præputii caro circumcisa non fuerit, delebitur anima illa de populo suo : quia pactum meum irritum fecit.
Gene KJV 17:14  And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
Gene DRC 17:15  God said also to Abraham: Sarai thy wife thou shalt not call Sarai, but Sara.
Gene KJV 17:15  And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
Gene DRC 17:16  And I will bless her, and of her I will give thee a son, whom I will bless, and he shall become nations, and kings of people shall spring from him.
Gene KJV 17:16  And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
Gene DRC 17:17  Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, saying in his heart: Shall a son, thinkest thou, be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sara that is ninety years old bring forth?
Gene VulgClem 17:17  Cecidit Abraham in faciem suam, et risit, dicens in corde suo : Putasne centenario nascetur filius ? et Sara nonagenaria pariet ?
Gene KJV 17:17  Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
Gene DRC 17:18  And he said to God: O that Ismael may live before thee.
Gene VulgClem 17:18  Dixitque ad Deum : Utinam Ismaël vivat coram te.
Gene KJV 17:18  And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
Gene DRC 17:19  And God said to Abraham: Sara thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for a perpetual covenant, and with his seed after him.
Gene VulgClem 17:19  Et ait Deus ad Abraham : Sara uxor tua pariet tibi filium, vocabisque nomen ejus Isaac, et constituam pactum meum illi in fœdus sempiternum, et semini ejus post eum.
Gene KJV 17:19  And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
Gene DRC 17:20  And as for Ismael I have also heard thee. Behold, I will bless him, and increase, and multiply him exceedingly: he shall beget twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation.
Gene KJV 17:20  And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
Gene DRC 17:21  But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sara shall bring forth to thee at this time in the next year.
Gene VulgClem 17:21  Pactum vero meum statuam ad Isaac, quem pariet tibi Sara tempore isto in anno altero.
Gene KJV 17:21  But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
Gene DRC 17:22  And when he had left off speaking with him, God went up from Abraham.
Gene KJV 17:22  And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
Gene DRC 17:23  And Abraham took Ismael his son, and all that were born in his house: and all whom he had bought, every male among the men of his house: and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin forthwith the very same day, as God had commanded him.
Gene VulgClem 17:23  Tulit autem Abraham Ismaël filium suum, et omnes vernaculos domus suæ, universosque quos emerat, cunctos mares ex omnibus viris domus suæ : et circumcidit carnem præputii eorum statim in ipsa die, sicut præceperat ei Deus.
Gene KJV 17:23  And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
Gene DRC 17:24  Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin.
Gene VulgClem 17:24  Abraham nonaginta et novem erat annorum quando circumcidit carnem præputii sui.
Gene KJV 17:24  And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Gene DRC 17:25  And Ismael his son was full thirteen years old at the time of his circumcision.
Gene VulgClem 17:25  Et Ismaël filius tredecim annos impleverat tempore circumcisionis suæ.
Gene KJV 17:25  And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Gene DRC 17:26  The self-same day was Abraham circumcised and Ismael his son.
Gene KJV 17:26  In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
Gene DRC 17:27  And all the men of his house, as well they that were born in his house, as the bought servants and strangers, were circumcised with him.
Gene KJV 17:27  And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
