15:1  In the seven and twentieth year of Jeroboam, king of Israel, reigned Azarias, son of Amasias, king of Juda.

15:1  Anno vigesimo septimo Jeroboam regis Israël, regnavit Azarias filius Amasiæ regis Juda.

15:1  In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.

15:2  He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Jechelia, of Jerusalem.

15:2  Sedecim annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset, et quinquaginta duobus annis regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Jechelia de Jerusalem.

15:2  Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

15:3  And he did that which was pleasing before the Lord, according to all that his father, Amasias, had done.

15:3  Fecitque quod erat placitum coram Domino, juxta omnia quæ fecit Amasias pater ejus.

15:3  And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done;

15:4  But the high places he did not destroy, for the people sacrificed, and burnt incense in the high places.

15:4  Verumtamen excelsa non est demolitus : adhuc populus sacrificabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis.

15:4  Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.

15:5  And the Lord struck the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and he dwelt in a free house apart: but Joatham, the king's son, governed the palace, and judged the people of the land.

15:5  Percussit autem Dominus regem, et fuit leprosus usque in diem mortis suæ, et habitabat in domo libera seorsum : Joatham vero filius regis gubernabat palatium, et judicabit populum terræ.

15:5  And the Lord smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the house, judging the people of the land.

15:6  And the rest of the acts of Azarias, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?

15:6  Reliqua autem sermonum Azariæ, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda ?

15:6  And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

15:7  And Azarias slept with his fathers: and they buried him with his ancestors in the city of David, and Joatham, his son, reigned in his stead.

15:7  Et dormivit Azarias cum patribus suis : sepelieruntque eum cum majoribus suis in civitate David, et regnavit Joatham filius ejus pro eo.

15:7  So Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

15:8  In the eight and thirtieth year of Azarias, king of Juda, reigned Zacharias, son of Jeroboam, over Israel, in Samaria, six months:

15:8  Anno trigesimo octavo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Zacharias filius Jeroboam super Israël in Samaria sex mensibus.

15:8  In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zachariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.

15:9  And he did that which is evil before the Lord, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin.

15:9  Et fecit quod malum est coram Domino, sicut fecerant patres ejus : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.

15:9  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

15:10  And Sellum, the son of Jabes, conspired against him: and struck him publicly, and killed him, and reigned in his place.

15:10  Conjuravit autem contra eum Sellum filius Jabes : percussitque eum palam, et interfecit, regnavitque pro eo.

15:10  And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and smote him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

15:11  Now the rest of the acts of Zacharias, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

15:11  Reliqua autem verborum Zachariæ, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

15:11  And the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

15:12  This was the word of the Lord, which he spoke to Jehu, saying: Thy children, to the fourth generation, shall sit upon the throne of Israel. And so it came to pass.

15:12  Iste est sermo Domini quem locutus est ad Jehu, dicens : Filii tui usque ad quartam generationem sedebunt super thronum Israël. Factumque est ita.

15:12  This was the word of the Lord which he spake unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.

15:13  Sellum, the son of Jabes, began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Azarias, king of Juda: and reigned one month in Samaria.

15:13  Sellum filius Jabes regnavit trigesimo novo anno Azariæ regis Juda : regnavit autem uno mense in Samaria.

15:13  Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.

15:14  And Manahem, the son of Gadi, went up from Thersa, and he came into Samaria, and struck Sellum, the son of Jabes, in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

15:14  Et ascendit Manahem filius Gadi de Thersa, venitque in Samariam, et percussit Sellum filium Jabes in Samaria, et interfecit eum : regnavitque pro eo.

15:14  For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

15:15  And the rest of the acts of Sellum, and his conspiracy which he made, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

15:15  Reliqua autem verborum Sellum, et conjuratio ejus, per quam tetendit insidias, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

15:15  And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

15:16  Then Manahem destroyed Thapsa and all that were in it, and the borders thereof from Thersa, because they would not open to him: and he slew all the women thereof that were with child, and ripped them up.

15:16  Tunc percussit Manahem Thapsam, et omnes qui erant in ea, et terminos ejus de Thersa : noluerant enim aperire ei : et interfecit omnes prægnantes ejus, et scidit eas.

15:16  Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

15:17  In the nine and thirtieth year of Azarias, king of Juda, reigned Manahem, son of Gadi, over Israel, ten years, in Samaria.

15:17  Anno trigesimo nono Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Manahem filius Gadi super Israël decem annis in Samaria.

15:17  In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria.

15:18  And he did that which was evil before the Lord: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, all his days.

15:18  Fecitque quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël, cunctis diebus ejus.

15:18  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

15:19  And Phul, king of the Assyrians, came into the land, and Manahem gave Phul a thousand talents of silver to aid him and to establish him in the kingdom.

15:19  Veniebat Phul rex Assyriorum in terram, et dabat Manahem Phul mille talenta argenti, ut esset ei in auxilium, et firmaret regnum ejus.

15:19  And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

15:20  And Manahem laid a tax upon Israel, on all that were mighty and rich, to give the king of the Assyrians, each man fifty sicles of silver: so the king of the Assyrians turned back, and did not stay in the land.

15:20  Indixitque Manahem argentum super Israël cunctis potentibus et divitibus, ut daret regi Assyriorum quinquaginta siclos argenti per singulos : reversusque est rex Assyriorum, et non est moratus in terra.

15:20  And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.

15:21  And the rest of the acts of Manahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

15:21  Reliqua autem sermonum Manahem, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

15:21  And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15:22  And Manahem slept with his fathers: and Phaceia, his son, reigned in his stead.

15:22  Et dormivit Manahem cum patribus suis : regnavitque Phaceia filius ejus pro eo.

15:22  And Menahem slept with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his stead.

15:23  In the fiftieth year of Azarias, king of Juda, reigned Phaceia, the son of Manahem, over Israel, in Samaria, two years.

15:23  Anno quinquagesimo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Phaceia filius Manahem super Israël in Samaria biennio.

15:23  In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.

15:24  And he did that which was evil before the Lord: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin.

15:24  Et fecit quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.

15:24  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

15:25  And Phacee the son of Romelia, his captain, conspired against him, and smote him in Samaria, in the tower of the king's house, near Argob, and near Arie, and with him fifty men of the sons of the Galaadites, and he slew him, and reigned in his stead.

15:25  Conjuravit autem adversus eum Phacee filius Romeliæ, dux ejus, et percussit eum in Samaria in turre domus regiæ, juxta Argob et juxta Arie, et cum eo quinquaginta viros de filiis Galaaditarum : et interfecit eum, regnavitque pro eo.

15:25  But Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.

15:26  And the rest of the acts of Phaceia, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

15:26  Reliqua autem sermonum Phaceia, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

15:26  And the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

15:27  In the two and fiftieth year of Azarias, king of Juda, reigned Phacee, the son of Romelia, over Israel, in Samaria, twenty years.

15:27  Anno quinquagesimo secundo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Phacee filius Romeliæ super Israël in Samaria viginti annis.

15:27  In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.

15:28  And he did that which was evil before the Lord: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin.

15:28  Et fecit quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.

15:28  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

15:29  In the days of Phacee, king of Israel, came Theglathphalasar, king of Assyria, and took Aion, and Abel Domum Maacha, and Janoe, and Cedes, and Asor, and Galaad, and Galilee, and all the land of Nephthali: and carried them captives into Assyria.

15:29  In diebus Phacee regis Israël, venit Theglathphalasar rex Assur, et cepit Ajon, et Abel Domum, Maacha et Janoë, et Cedes, et Asor, et Galaad, et Galilæam, et universam terram Nephthali : et transtulit eos in Assyrios.

15:29  In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel–beth–maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

15:30  Now Osee, son of Ela, conspired, and formed a plot against Phacee, the son of Romelia, and struck him, and slew him: and reigned in his stead in the twentieth year of Joatham, the son of Ozias.

15:30  Conjuravit autem et tetendit insidias Osee filius Ela contra Phacee filium Romeliæ, et percussit eum, et interfecit : regnavitque pro eo vigesimo anno Joatham filii Oziæ.

15:30  And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

15:31  But the rest of the acts of Phacee, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

15:31  Reliqua autem sermonum Phacee, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

15:31  And the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

15:32  In the second year of Phacee, the son of Romelia king of Israel, reigned Joatham, son of Ozias, king of Juda.

15:32  Anno secundo Phacee filii Romeliæ regis Israël, regnavit Joatham filius Oziæ regis Juda.

15:32  In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.

15:33  He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Jerusa, the daughter of Sadoc.

15:33  Viginti quinque annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Jerusa filia Sadoc.

15:33  Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

15:34  And he did that which was right before the Lord: according to all that his father Ozias had done, so did he.

15:34  Fecitque quod erat placitum coram Domino : juxta omnia quæ fecerat Ozias pater suus, operatus est.

15:34  And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

15:35  But the high places he took not away: the people still sacrificed, and burnt incense in the high places: he built the highest gate of the house of the Lord.

15:35  Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit : adhuc populus immolabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis. Ipse ædificavit portam domus Domini sublimissimam.

15:35  Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the Lord.

15:36  But the rest of the acts of Joatham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?

15:36  Reliqua autem sermonum Joatham, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda ?

15:36  Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

15:37  In those days the Lord began to send into Juda, Rasin king of Syria, and Phacee the son of Romelia.

15:37  In diebus illis cœpit Dominus mittere in Judam Rasin regem Syriæ, et Phacee filium Romeliæ.

15:37  In those days the Lord began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.

15:38  And Joatham slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David, his father; and Achaz, his son, reigned in his stead.

15:38  Et dormivit Joatham cum patribus suis, sepultusque est cum eis in civitate David patris sui : et regnavit Achaz filius ejus pro eo.

15:38  And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
