Chapter 22
Deut DRC 22:1  Thou shalt not pass by if thou seest thy brother's ox, or his sheep go astray: but thou shalt bring them back to thy brother.
Deut KJV 22:1  Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother.
Deut VulgClem 22:1  Non videbis bovem fratris tui, aut ovem errantem, et præteribis : sed reduces fratri tuo,
Deut DRC 22:2  And if thy brother be not nigh, or thou know him not: thou shalt bring them to thy house, and they shall be with thee until thy brother seek them, and receive them.
Deut KJV 22:2  And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
Deut VulgClem 22:2  etiamsi non est propinquus frater tuus, nec nosti eum : duces in domum tuam, et erunt apud te quamdiu quærat ea frater tuus, et recipiat.
Deut DRC 22:3  Thou shalt do in like manner with his ass, and with his raiment, and with every thing that is thy brother's, which is lost: if thou find it, neglect it not as pertaining to another.
Deut KJV 22:3  In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother’s, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
Deut VulgClem 22:3  Similiter facies de asino, et de vestimento, et de omni re fratris tui, quæ perierit : si inveneris eam, ne negligas quasi alienam.
Deut DRC 22:4  If thou see thy brother's ass or his ox to be fallen down in the way, thou shalt not slight it, but shalt lift it up with him.
Deut KJV 22:4  Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
Deut VulgClem 22:4  Si videris asinum fratris tui aut bovem cecidisse in via, non despicies, sed sublevabis cum eo.
Deut DRC 22:5  A woman shall not be clothed with man's apparel, neither shall a man use woman's apparel: for he that doth these things is abominable before God.
Deut KJV 22:5  The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Deut VulgClem 22:5  Non induetur mulier veste virili, nec vir utetur veste feminea : abominabilis enim apud Deum est qui facit hæc.
Deut DRC 22:6  If thou find as thou walkest by the way, a bird's nest in a tree, or on the ground, and the dam sitting upon the young or upon the eggs: thou shalt not take her with her young:
Deut KJV 22:6  If a bird’s nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
Deut VulgClem 22:6  Si ambulans per viam, in arbore vel in terra nidum avis inveneris, et matrem pullis vel ovis desuper incubantem : non tenebis eam cum filiis,
Deut DRC 22:7  But shalt let her go, keeping the young which thou hast caught: that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live a long time.
Deut KJV 22:7  But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
Deut VulgClem 22:7  sed abire patieris, captos tenens filios : ut bene sit tibi, et longo vivas tempore.
Deut DRC 22:8  When thou buildest a new house, thou shalt make a battlement to the roof round about: lest blood be shed in thy house, and thou be guilty, if any one slip, and fall down headlong.

Deut DRC 22:9  Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest both the seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of the vineyard, be sanctified together.
Deut KJV 22:9  Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
Deut VulgClem 22:9  Non seres vineam tuam altero semine : ne et sementis quam sevisti, et quæ nascuntur ex vinea, pariter sanctificentur.
Deut DRC 22:10  Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together.

Deut DRC 22:13  If a man marry a wife, and afterwards hate her,
Deut KJV 22:13  If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,

Deut DRC 22:14  And seek occasions to put her away, laying to her charge a very ill name, and say: I took this woman to wife, and going in to her, I found her not a virgin:
Deut KJV 22:14  And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
Deut VulgClem 22:14  quæsieritque occasiones quibus dimittat eam, objiciens ei nomen pessimum, et dixerit : Uxorem hanc accepi, et ingressus ad eam non inveni virginem :
Deut DRC 22:15  Her father and mother shall take her, and shall bring with them the tokens of her virginity to the ancients of the city that are in the gate:
Deut KJV 22:15  Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Deut VulgClem 22:15  tollent eam pater et mater ejus, et ferent secum signa virginitatis ejus ad seniores urbis qui in porta sunt :
Deut DRC 22:16  And the father shall say: I gave my daughter unto this man to wife: and because he hateth her,
Deut KJV 22:16  And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
Deut VulgClem 22:16  et dicet pater : Filiam meam dedi huic uxorem : quam quia odit,
Deut DRC 22:17  He layeth to her charge a very ill name, so as to say: I found not thy daughter a virgin: and behold these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the ancients of the city:
Deut KJV 22:17  And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
Deut VulgClem 22:17  imponit ei nomen pessimum, ut dicat : Non inveni filiam tuam virginem : et ecce hæc sunt signa virginitatis filiæ meæ. Expandent vestimentum coram senioribus civitatis :
Deut DRC 22:18  And the ancients of that city shall take that man, and beat him,
Deut KJV 22:18  And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
Deut VulgClem 22:18  apprehendentque senes urbis illius virum, et verberabunt illum,
Deut DRC 22:19  Condemning him besides in a hundred sicles of silver, which he shall give to the damsel's father, because he hath defamed by a very ill name a virgin of Israel: and he shall have her to wife, and may not put her away all the days of his life.
Deut KJV 22:19  And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
Deut VulgClem 22:19  condemnantes insuper centum siclis argenti, quos dabit patri puellæ, quoniam diffamavit nomen pessimum super virginem Israël : habebitque eam uxorem, et non poterit dimittere eam omnibus diebus vitæ suæ.
Deut DRC 22:20  But if what he charged her with be true, and virginity be not found in the damsel:
Deut KJV 22:20  But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
Deut VulgClem 22:20  Quod si verum est quod objicit, et non est in puella inventa virginitas,
Deut DRC 22:21  They shall cast her out of the doors of her father's house, and the men of the city shall stone her to death, and she shall die: because she hath done a wicked thing in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: and thou shalt take away the evil out of the midst of thee.
Deut KJV 22:21  Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
Deut VulgClem 22:21  ejicient eam extra fores domus patris sui, et lapidibus obruent viri civitatis illius, et morietur : quoniam fecit nefas in Israël, ut fornicaretur in domo patris sui : et auferes malum de medio tui.
Deut DRC 22:22  If a man lie with another man's wife, they shall both die, that is to say, the adulterer and the adulteress: and thou shalt take away the evil out of Israel.
Deut KJV 22:22  If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
Deut VulgClem 22:22  Si dormierit vir cum uxore alterius, uterque morietur, id est, adulter et adultera : et auferes malum de Israël.
Deut DRC 22:23  If a man have espoused a damsel that is a virgin, and some one find her in the city, and lie with her,
Deut KJV 22:23  If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
Deut VulgClem 22:23  Si puellam virginem desponderit vir, et invenerit eam aliquis in civitate, et concubuerit cum ea,
Deut DRC 22:24  Thou shalt bring them both out to the gate of that city, and they shall be stoned: the damsel, because she cried not out, being in the city: the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife. And thou shalt take away the evil from the midst of thee.
Deut KJV 22:24  Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
Deut VulgClem 22:24  educes utrumque ad portam civitatis illius, et lapidibus obruentur : puella, quia non clamavit, cum esset in civitate : vir, quia humiliavit uxorem proximi sui : et auferes malum de medio tui.
Deut DRC 22:25  But if a man find a damsel that is betrothed, in the field, and taking hold of her, lie with her, he alone shall die:
Deut KJV 22:25  But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
Deut VulgClem 22:25  Sin autem in agro repererit vir puellam, quæ desponsata est, et apprehendens concubuerit cum ea, ipse morietur solus :
Deut DRC 22:26  The damsel shall suffer nothing, neither is she guilty of death: for as a robber riseth against his brother, and taketh away his life, so also did the damsel suffer:
Deut KJV 22:26  But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
Deut VulgClem 22:26  puella nihil patietur, nec est rea mortis : quoniam sicut latro consurgit contra fratrem suum, et occidit animam ejus, ita et puella perpessa est.
Deut DRC 22:27  She was alone in the field: she cried, and there was no man to help her.
Deut KJV 22:27  For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
Deut VulgClem 22:27  Sola erat in agro : clamavit, et nullus affuit qui liberaret eam.
Deut DRC 22:28  If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, who is not espoused, and taking her, lie with her, and the matter come to judgment:
Deut KJV 22:28  If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
Deut VulgClem 22:28  Si invenerit vir puellam virginem, quæ non habet sponsum, et apprehendens concubuerit cum illa, et res ad judicium venerit :
Deut DRC 22:29  He that lay with her shall give to the father of the maid fifty sicles of silver, and shall have her to wife, because he hath humbled her: he may not put her away all the days of his life.
Deut KJV 22:29  Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
Deut VulgClem 22:29  dabit qui dormivit cum ea, patri puellæ quinquaginta siclos argenti, et habebit eam uxorem, quia humiliavit illam : non poterit dimittere eam cunctis diebus vitæ suæ.
Deut DRC 22:30  No man shall take his father's wife, nor remove his covering.
Deut KJV 22:30  A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.
