Chapter 55
Psal DRC 55:1  Unto the end, for a people that is removed at a distance from the sanctuary: for David, for an inscription of a title (or pillar) when the Philistines held him in Geth.
Psal KJV 55:1  Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
Psal VulgClem 55:1  In finem, pro populo qui a sanctis longe factus est. David in tituli inscriptionem, cum tenuerunt eum Allophyli in Geth.
Psal DRC 55:2  Have mercy on me, O God, for man hath trodden me under foot; all the day long he hath afflicted me fighting against me.
Psal KJV 55:2  Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
Psal VulgClem 55:2  Miserere mei, Deus, quoniam conculcavit me homo ; tota die impugnans, tribulavit me.
Psal DRC 55:3  My enemies have trodden on me all the day long; for they are many that make war against me.
Psal KJV 55:3  Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
Psal VulgClem 55:3  Conculcaverunt me inimici mei tota die, quoniam multi bellantes adversum me.
Psal DRC 55:4  From the height of the day I shall fear: but I will trust in thee.
Psal KJV 55:4  My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
Psal VulgClem 55:4  Ab altitudine diei timebo : ego vero in te sperabo.
Psal DRC 55:5  In God I will praise my words, in God I have put my trust: I will not fear what flesh can do against me.
Psal KJV 55:5  Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
Psal VulgClem 55:5  In Deo laudabo sermones meos ; in Deo speravi : non timebo quid faciat mihi caro.
Psal DRC 55:6  All the day long they detested my words: all their thoughts were against me unto evil.
Psal KJV 55:6  And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Psal DRC 55:7  They will dwell and hide themselves: they will watch my heel. As they have waited for my soul,

Psal DRC 55:8  For nothing shalt thou save them: in thy anger thou shalt break the people in pieces. O God,
Psal KJV 55:8  I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

Psal DRC 55:9  I have declared to thee my life: thou hast set me tears in thy sight, As also in thy promise.
Psal KJV 55:9  Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Psal DRC 55:10  Then shall my enemies be turned back. In what day soever I shall call upon thee, behold I know thou art my God.
Psal KJV 55:10  Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
Psal VulgClem 55:10  tunc convertentur inimici mei retrorsum. In quacumque die invocavero te, ecce cognovi quoniam Deus meus es.
Psal DRC 55:11  In God will I praise the word, in the Lord will I praise his speech. In God have I hoped, I will not fear what man can do to me.
Psal KJV 55:11  Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

Psal DRC 55:12  In me, O God, are vows to thee, which I will pay, praises to thee:
Psal KJV 55:12  For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

Psal DRC 55:13  Because thou hast delivered my soul from death, my feet from falling: that I may please in the sight of God, in the light of the living.
Psal KJV 55:13  But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
